Glowmade developers faced redundancies after King of Meat, the studio’s Amazon-published co-op game, failed to find the audience its publisher hoped for. Industry outlets reported in December 2025 that redundancies were expected to begin in January 2026, but no source found confirms a final number of job losses. Amazon later announced the game’s servers would close on April 9, 2026; that date has now passed.
Why are Glowmade developers facing redundancies?
The reported job cuts followed the poor performance of King of Meat, a new game developed by Glowmade and published by Amazon Games. In its later closure notice, the official site said the game “has unfortunately not found the audience we hoped for” and announced that investment would end. King of Meat’s official site

How many Glowmade employees were affected?
The final number is not confirmed in the available reporting. Insider Gaming reported that several developers had announced they would be made redundant in January 2026. PC Gamer reported that voluntary-redundancy discussions affecting about a dozen people had begun. Those reports describe potential redundancies, not a company-confirmed final headcount. What happened to King of Meat?
Amazon Games’ launch announcement presented King of Meat as a new intellectual property developed by Glowmade. Vice President Christoph Hartmann said the company was “thrilled to launch” the game, calling it “a bold and imaginative new IP.” That was a launch-era promotional statement; the publisher’s later notice acknowledged that the game had not reached its hoped-for audience. PC Gamer reported that leadership had expected at least 100,000 concurrent players and that the Steam peak was 320, citing SteamDB. These are reported figures: the first is an expectation, while the second is a Steam concurrent-player peak. Neither establishes total players across platforms, sales, or revenue. PC Gamer
