GOG announced 27 additions to its Preservation Program on March 20, 2025, featuring Silent Hill 4: The Room and F.E.A.R. Platinum. The longer list includes several bundles and collections, so its number of bullets is smaller than the announced total.
What GOG’s Preservation Program promises
GOG describes the program as “our commitment to preserving gaming history.” It says players should be able to rely on supported games being kept up to date and ready for current and future PC setups. That is GOG’s stated promise, not an independently measured guarantee. Depending on the title, program work may involve manuals, DLC, missing features, technical support, or offline installers; GOG does not say that every element applies to every game. GOG’s March 20, 2025 announcement explains the program and this wave.

Those are historical figures, not a verified current count or confirmation that the target was met. Neowin’s report gives the grouped list and dated figures.

What is notable about Silent Hill 4 on GOG?
GOG’s current store page identifies Silent Hill 4: The Room as a 2004 Team Silent game and labels it part of the Preservation Program. It lists the game as a single-player Windows action-adventure horror title and advertises DRM-free play without activation or an online connection. The page also includes a changelog and maintenance information; availability and store details can change. See GOG’s current product page.
Contemporaneous coverage reported one specific preservation improvement: the GOG PC version restored hauntings absent from the earlier PC release, although they had appeared in the PlayStation 2 version. That detail does not establish that the GOG release is identical to every console edition. For technical changes to other games in the wave, consult the individual title’s preservation log rather than assuming the same work was done across the catalog. Neowin’s March 2025 report describes the restoration.

- Multiplayer - A twist on classic multiplayer modes set inside the Almaverse provide an experience unique to F.E.A.R. 3
What the announcement does—and does not—establish
The announcement is a catalog update and a description of GOG’s preservation aims. It does not provide a wave-wide tally of compatibility fixes or a measured success rate for games running on current or future PCs. The program’s scope and specific changes are title-dependent, so the relevant game page and maintenance log are the useful places to check before choosing a version.
