No—GOG games are not about to become playable on Amazon Luna. GOG and Amazon announced a genuine partnership on March 18, 2024, and supported GOG games did become playable through Luna’s Bring Your Own Library feature. However, Amazon ended third-party game-library support on June 10, 2026. Your GOG purchases remain yours; the Luna streaming route does not.
What GOG and Amazon originally announced
In March 2024, GOG announced a partnership with Amazon Luna that would let users stream supported games they already owned on GOG without buying them again.

The arrangement also worked in the other direction: games purchased through Luna were intended to be added to the customer’s GOG library. It was not, however, a promise that the entire GOG catalog would work on Luna. A game needed to be both owned on GOG and supported and available through Luna.

When did GOG support end on Luna?
Amazon subsequently announced the removal of third-party stores and Bring Your Own Library. Its support notice gave two important dates:
| Date | Change |
|---|---|
| April 10, 2026 | Luna stopped offering game stores, individual game purchases, and third-party subscriptions. |
| June 10, 2026 | Previously purchased third-party titles and games accessed through Bring Your Own Library stopped being playable on Luna. |
GOG confirmed the change on April 10, 2026, saying that external-library support, including access to GOG games, would end after June 10. As of August 18, 2026, the old GOG-on-Luna integration is no longer available.
The original GOG announcement may still use future-tense wording such as “Soon,” but that page is now historical. The later GOG and Amazon notices supersede it.

Do you lose games bought on GOG?
No. The change removed Luna streaming access, not your GOG ownership.
- Lost: the ability to stream affected GOG titles through Luna’s external-library integration.
- Not lost: your GOG account, GOG purchases, and access to games through GOG-supported methods.
Amazon directed affected users to GOG Galaxy for their GOG purchases. You can also use GOG’s website and the normal local-download options associated with your account. GOG Galaxy is primarily a library and game client, though; it is not a replacement for cloud streaming on hardware that cannot run the game.
What happens to Luna save data?
Amazon said affected Luna save data would be available for download for 90 days after June 10, 2026. As of August 18, that stated period is still in progress, so former users should act promptly rather than assume the files will remain available indefinitely.

Use Amazon’s Luna save-data settings page to check for downloadable saves. Amazon warns that compatibility depends on the game and publisher. A downloaded Luna save is not guaranteed to work with a local GOG installation, another storefront, or another cloud service.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

- Open GOG Galaxy or the GOG website. Sign in to the account that owns the games.
- Confirm your library. The affected games should remain associated with the GOG account that purchased them.
- Download any available Luna saves. The download window is time-limited.
- Install the game locally if your computer meets its requirements. Check the game’s current system requirements before downloading.
- Test the save separately. Do not assume that a Luna save will transfer cleanly to the local version.
- Do not repurchase the game because of the Luna shutdown. The original GOG purchase was not cancelled.
Could a GOG game still appear in Luna?
Possibly—but that would not mean GOG-library support has returned.
Amazon may offer a particular game through Luna’s own catalog or subscription arrangements. That is separate from linking an external GOG account and streaming supported games you already own. In other words:

A game being available on Luna is not the same as Luna supporting your GOG library.
Do not treat an individual Luna catalog listing, a Prime Gaming promotion, or a GOG game code as evidence that Bring Your Own Library has been restored.
What Amazon Luna offers now
Amazon’s redesigned Luna is focused on a curated, Prime-centered model rather than external PC storefronts. Its current offering includes:

- Google Play gift codes can be used on the Google Play Store, the official app store for Android, to purchase apps, games, and more.

- a rotating selection of cloud-playable games for Prime members;
- GameNight multiplayer titles, including games that can use a smartphone as a controller;
- a larger paid Luna Premium catalog; and
- access on supported devices and in supported countries.
Amazon says Prime members have access to more than 50 games and has highlighted titles including Hogwarts Legacy, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, and TopSpin 2K25. These are examples reported by Amazon, not permanent lineup guarantees; Luna’s catalog can change.
As of July 23, 2026, Amazon also announced Luna access inside Prime Video on Fire TV in the United States and United Kingdom. That expands how some customers can reach Luna, but it does not restore GOG-library streaming.
Amazon lists cloud-delivered Luna gaming in these countries:

- Luxembourg
Cloud-delivered Luna games should not be confused with the rotating downloadable PC games available through Prime Gaming. Amazon treats those as separate benefits. A downloadable PC game or a GOG code obtained through a Prime promotion does not provide GOG-library streaming on Luna.
Is Luna worth paying for if you own GOG games?
That depends on what you want from it:
- To stream your existing GOG library: No. Luna’s former external GOG-library integration ended on June 10, 2026.
- For Prime’s current included Luna catalog: Possibly, especially if you already value Prime’s delivery and entertainment benefits. Prime does not restore access to your personal GOG library.
- For a broader curated cloud catalog: Luna Premium may be worth considering, but it is a separate subscription catalog—not a replacement for Bring Your Own Library.
- To recover GOG access with a controller: A controller cannot reverse the policy change. Use GOG Galaxy or local installation instead.
Other approaches may suit users who specifically want cloud access to PC games: installing games locally, using a cloud service that explicitly supports the relevant storefront, or remotely accessing a personally owned gaming PC. Storefront, game, publisher, region, and device support vary, so no alternative should be assumed to support every GOG title.
The timeline in brief
- March 18, 2024: GOG announces its Amazon Luna partnership.
- April 10, 2026: Amazon ends Luna game stores, individual purchases, and third-party subscriptions; GOG confirms the coming loss of external-library access.
- June 10, 2026: GOG games accessed through Bring Your Own Library stop being playable on Luna.
- July 23, 2026: Amazon announces Prime Video access to Luna on Fire TV in the United States and United Kingdom.
- August 18, 2026: GOG-on-Luna support is a discontinued feature, not an upcoming one.
Verdict
The headline “GOG games will soon become playable on Amazon Luna” was accurate only as news from March 2024. The partnership became real, but Amazon ended the relevant third-party-library feature on June 10, 2026. Existing GOG games remain in their owners’ GOG libraries, while Luna now centers on Amazon’s own rotating Prime and Premium catalogs.
