In the version range most stat references use for the Chapter 2-era Gold SCAR, a headshot deals 54 damage. That is the Legendary Assault Rifle’s 36 base body damage multiplied by a 1.5x headshot multiplier. A later reference for patch v40.41 lists 57.6 damage for the same weapon, using a 1.6x multiplier. Both numbers are tied to specific versions, so the figure is only meaningful with its patch label attached.
What “Gold SCAR” refers to
“Gold SCAR” is the common name for the Legendary-rarity Assault Rifle in Fortnite. Its stats are not fixed. Epic Games has adjusted Assault Rifle damage and headshot multipliers across patches, so any headshot number should be read alongside the version it describes.
How the headshot figure is calculated
A headshot’s damage is the weapon’s listed body damage multiplied by its headshot multiplier. Applied to the two references discussed here:
- Start with the Legendary Assault Rifle’s base body damage: 36 in both references.
- Apply the headshot multiplier for the version you are checking: 1.5x gives 54; 1.6x gives 57.6.
- Report the result with the patch number, because the same weapon produces different headshot values across versions.
Headshot damage by version reference
| Version reference | Legendary body damage | Headshot multiplier | Calculated headshot damage | Source and status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| v13.00 through v39.51 (Assault Rifle page) | 36 | 1.5x | 54 | Fortnite Wiki stat history; the page does not show a clear publication date for this table |
| v39.51 (high-tier Assault Rifle page) | not stated | 1.75x | not stated | Fortnite Wiki high-tier page; conflicts with the 1.5x shown on the Assault Rifle page for the same patch |
| v40.41 (high-tier Assault Rifle page) | 36 | 1.6x | 57.6 | Fortnite Wiki secondary report; not confirmed in Epic’s official patch notes |
The 54 figure is therefore the best-documented value for the historical range, and 57.6 is the most recent value this article can attribute. Neither has been checked against official patch notes for the current season, so confirm the stats against the latest patch before quoting them as current.

Why the reference pages do not fully agree
The two Fortnite Wiki pages keep separate stat histories. For v39.51 they disagree: the Assault Rifle page lists a 1.5x multiplier, while the high-tier page lists 1.75x for the same patch. Neither page’s version history is confirmed by Epic in the sources available here, so the conflict cannot be resolved from them alone. Use the version label each page gives, and do not merge the entries into a single permanent stat line.
Epic’s official multiplier change
Epic Games’ V.1.10 patch notes record a reduction in the Assault Rifle headshot multiplier from 2.5x to 2.0x. This confirms that the multiplier has changed over time and that Epic documents these changes in its patch notes. It does not establish the 1.5x or 1.6x values above, and it does not give the Legendary body damage used in those calculations.

What headshot damage does not tell you
- Overall weapon strength. Headshot damage is one input; fire rate, accuracy, recoil, and reload speed also matter.
- Time-to-kill. A headshot’s damage value does not show how many shots a target needs, which depends on the target’s health and shield.
- Comparison with other weapons. The references above do not compare the Gold SCAR with other weapons on time-to-kill or accuracy.
- Results in every mode or condition. Damage values from stat pages do not confirm behaviour under special modifiers or in every mode.
How to confirm the number for your version
- Identify the current Fortnite patch number from Epic Games’ official Fortnite patch notes.
- Find the Assault Rifle entry in those notes and check whether the body damage or headshot multiplier has changed since the version you are reading about.
- If the patch notes do not list the values, check a stat reference that gives a version label, and treat any mismatch as a reason to test rather than assume.
- Multiply the body damage by the headshot multiplier and record the patch number next to the result.
When quoting the number, use the form “54 headshot damage on v13.00 through v39.51 per Fortnite Wiki” rather than “a Gold SCAR deals 54 headshot damage.” The shorter version is common in community posts, but it hides the version dependence that determines whether the number is correct for the patch you are playing.
