Good Trouble introduced AbleToPlay as a game-discovery platform that helps players find titles suited to their accessibility needs and preferences. Players can create a private profile and receive a Personal Score for games, alongside feature-by-feature accessibility information and spoiler-free summaries of potentially triggering content. The platform is live; Good Trouble’s February 2025 announcement had planned a full launch for March 10, but the reviewed official pages do not establish the exact public-release date.

What AbleToPlay does

AbleToPlay is designed to help people assess whether a game’s features fit their own needs before they play or purchase it. Rather than treating accessibility as a single yes-or-no label, the service describes game features and compares them with information in a player’s profile. Good Trouble calls the resulting match a Personal Score. The platform’s current pages also describe spoiler-free summaries of potentially triggering content. Good Trouble’s launch announcement introduced the service, while AbleToPlay’s current site describes its present offering.

The idea is to make discovery more specific than searching for a general “accessible” label. A player might need readable text, avoid controls that require difficult simultaneous presses, depend on visual rather than audio cues, or need colorblind options for puzzle mechanics. These are examples Good Trouble gives, not a complete checklist or a guarantee that every game has been assessed for every requirement. The company’s March 2025 article explains the problem the platform is intended to address.

How player profiles and Personal Scores work

Match games to needs and preferences

Players provide information about the content needs and preferences they want the platform to consider. AbleToPlay says it uses those preferences—not health or identity information—to personalize discovery. A Personal Score is intended to indicate how well a particular game fits the profile; it should be read as a personalized match, not a universal accessibility rating.

  • Ultimate configurability and flexibility: Easily configurable to suit your gaming needs, including an assortment of button types and sizes to connect to your AccessTM Controller.

  • Hook-and-loop gaming board: Freely layout buttons and triggers to fit your unique needs or use ties for additional flexibility and stability.
  • PS5 stick-on label system: Label your buttons and triggers with PS5 symbols for seamless gameplay.

Use feature details to make your own judgment

The score is only one part of the decision. Game pages are described as providing accessibility breakdowns, so players can inspect relevant features rather than relying on a single number. That detail matters because the same option can be essential for one player and irrelevant to another, and a game may support some needs while not addressing others. Good Trouble says its information draws on developer input, independent research and testing, and community-submitted feedback. That is the company’s description of its process, not an independently audited assessment of its accuracy or coverage.

Consider content information separately

Accessibility features and potentially triggering content are different questions. AbleToPlay says it includes spoiler-free summaries of potentially triggering content, which can help users decide whether a game’s themes or scenes are right for them without relying only on accessibility controls.

Who can use AbleToPlay, and what does it cost?

Although the launch announcement focused on gamers with disabilities and their families, the current FAQ describes the service as intended for anyone searching by needs and preferences, including people who want to avoid triggering content. Good Trouble’s March 2025 article also mentions parents, therapists, and caregivers as possible users. Personal use is described as free, but an account is required for personalization. Good Trouble describes a separate subscription-based service for businesses and organizations; the current pages reviewed do not state a price. The AbleToPlay FAQ covers the service’s audience and access model.

Privacy and information quality to weigh

Creating a personalized profile means sharing preferences with the service. AbleToPlay says it uses content needs and preferences rather than health or identity information, and that profile information is encrypted in storage and transmission. These are company statements; no independent security audit was reviewed. Players who do not want to create an account should note that personalization requires one.

When using any discovery tool, check whether its game-level details answer your particular question, whether the wording is clear enough to apply to your situation, and whether the information is current for the version or platform you intend to play. The reviewed AbleToPlay pages explain the stated sources of its information but do not establish how often each game entry is updated or independently verify coverage across the catalog.

Launch plan and company context

Good Trouble announced AbleToPlay on February 18, 2025, and said a full launch was planned for March 10 after early access through Discord. That was the company’s announced schedule; it is not confirmation that the public release happened on that exact date. Its launch announcement named Child’s Play Charity, Games For Change, and the World Institute on Disability as supporters.

These statements establish collaboration and intended support, not a referral or affiliate program. AbleToPlay’s current About page says Good Trouble builds and operates the platform and names founders Arman Nobari and Anthony Gibson. The About page provides the company’s current description.

What to make of Good Trouble’s scale claims

Good Trouble used large audience and effort estimates to explain the need for accessible game discovery. Its February 2025 launch announcement said “over 500 million gamers globally”; its March 2025 article cited roughly one in three gamers in North America, around four to five hours spent finding accessible games, and upwards of 90% of gamers using one or more accessibility options. These are figures published by the company, and the reviewed material does not provide underlying study citations or methodology sufficient to treat them as independently verified estimates.

The more useful question for an individual player is whether the platform’s profile and game details make it easier to identify specific features that matter to them. AbleToPlay is built around that task, but the available company descriptions alone do not establish how complete or accurate its listings are across games.
