Golfing Over It with Alva Majo is a single-player climbing game in which you strike a golf ball up a surreal mountain. The objective is to reach the top, but a mistimed hit can send your progress tumbling back down. The game was released on March 28, 2018; Steam lists Majorariatto as its developer and publisher, while the creator’s portfolio credits Alva Majo.
How do you play Golfing Over It with Alva Majo?
You hit a golf ball to climb an increasingly surreal stage. Steam sums up the goal as “Golf your way up to the top.” The central challenge is managing each shot: progress depends on moving upward, while a fall can carry you back toward the beginning. The official store description presents it as a different take on Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy, rather than a conventional golf game.
Why can a fall cost so much progress?
The game is built around the risk of losing ground after a fall. That makes each climb a balance between advancing and avoiding a mistake that sends the ball downward. Alva Majo’s portfolio describes the design intent as keeping the harsh punishment of a similar game to Getting Over It while “losing the frustrating controls.” That is the creator’s stated aim, not an independent assessment of how the controls feel.
What controls and platforms are listed?
On Steam, mouse and XInput gamepad support are listed, and the store identifies Xbox controllers. Steam also marks the game as having full controller support. A controller is optional; the listing does not make one a requirement.
