Both the 2026 Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra appear to clear Pokémon GO’s published Android baseline, but Niantic does not specifically confirm either model and warns that meeting the requirements does not guarantee support. There is not enough model-specific gameplay testing here to say which runs Pokémon GO better, stays cooler, or lasts longer. The most useful known difference is the display: both have a 6.5-inch cover screen, while Samsung lists a larger 8.0-inch inner screen.
“Galaxy Z Fold” can refer to several generations. This comparison uses Samsung’s current Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, not the separate Z Fold8 or an older model. Specifications and availability can vary by market.
Will Pokémon GO work on the Pixel 11 Pro Fold or Galaxy Z Fold?
Niantic’s Pokémon GO supported-devices page lists Android 9 or later, at least 2GB of RAM, GPS and Location Services, and a strong internet connection. It also lists 720 × 1280 as the preferred resolution and says rooted devices are unsupported.
Google’s specifications identify the Pixel 11 Pro Fold as a 2026 device running Tensor G6; Samsung lists Android 17 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy for the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. Their published platform and hardware are well above the general Android and RAM thresholds. That comparison is an inference from manufacturer specifications and Niantic’s requirements—not a model-specific compatibility confirmation.

Niantic explicitly cautions: “We cannot guarantee device support: With many device models and configurations available in different regions, we cannot guarantee that every device that meets the criteria will be able to play the game.” Its requirements page does not name either foldable, so treat compatibility as likely based on the published baseline, not officially certified for these exact models.

Which foldable is better for Pokémon GO?
The available evidence does not establish a gameplay winner. A faster-sounding chip name or a larger display cannot by itself tell you which phone will deliver steadier responsiveness, less heat, longer play time, or a more convenient game layout. No controlled comparison of Pokémon GO on these two exact models is available here.
For screen size, the practical distinction is the larger Samsung inner display; both models list a 6.5-inch cover screen. That makes the Z Fold8 Ultra the clearer option if your priority is having a larger display available when unfolded, but it does not establish that Pokémon GO uses that screen better. The cover displays also differ in aspect ratio and resolution, with no evidence here showing which interface is easier to use.

If gameplay performance is decisive, look for testing on the exact regional models that matches your use: same Pokémon GO version, route, brightness, network conditions, play duration, and cover-versus-inner-screen setup, with heat, battery change, and responsiveness recorded. Without that evidence, compare price, warranty and return terms where you live, and choose the screen format you prefer.
Availability and model names matter
Google announced Pixel 11 Pro Fold preorder availability and an August 20, 2026 shelf date. Samsung said global rollout of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra would begin in August 2026, with sales starting August 7 in select markets. Those dates do not establish current stock, pricing, or configurations in every country; check the manufacturer or authorized retailers in your region. Pokémon GO Plus is optional; it does not change a phone’s game performance or replace the need to run Pokémon GO on the phone. Pokémon Support says the game must be installed, one Plus can connect to one smartphone at a time, and the accessory uses a replaceable CR2032 coin battery rather than being rechargeable. The support page also says it is not water- or damage-resistant. See Pokémon GO Plus frequently asked questions.
