Yes—Google Play Games on PC lets you run games in separate windows. Google’s current help page says you can open up to four game windows, though older or less capable PCs may support fewer. That means you can keep one game open while playing another; it does not mean you can actively control both games at once.
What “simultaneously” means
The feature is for Google Play Games on PC, Google’s Windows platform for compatible mobile games—not a launcher for Windows games from Steam, Epic Games Store, or Xbox. Launch another compatible title while one is open and it appears in a separate window. You can arrange the windows side by side, put one on another monitor, or switch between them.
In practice, the common use is to play one game actively while leaving another open for a timer, farming, crafting, or resource gathering. The original July 24, 2024 GamesBeat report described that sort of use rather than simultaneous hands-on play. Input goes to the selected window, so a single keyboard, mouse, or controller does not independently operate two games at once.
Google’s current support instructions describe a maximum of four game windows. The original “two games” claim remains true, but four is the newer documented ceiling—not a guarantee that every PC can run four smoothly.

How to open two games
- Install and open Google Play Games on a Windows PC, then sign in.
- Launch the first game from the available PC catalog.
- Select a different game and launch it. Google Play Games opens it in another window.
- Resize or arrange the windows, then click the one you want to control.
For installation, visit the Google Play Games on PC page, select Download, open the installer, and follow its setup steps. Google’s installation guide notes that virtualization settings may need attention.
One account or multiple accounts?
| Setup | What Google documents |
|---|---|
| One Google Play Games account | Open a different game in a new window. |
| Multiple accounts | Play the same game with multiple accounts at once, or play multiple games across accounts. |
Multiple accounts can help players who maintain alternate accounts, but the game itself may restrict concurrent logins or account use. Check its rules and save behavior before relying on multiple instances.

Which games work best—and what keeps running?
Idle RPGs, incremental games, farming and crafting titles, resource managers, and turn-based games that tolerate pauses are natural candidates. Pair a low-demand background title with the game you are actively playing. Two fast-action or graphically demanding games are harder to manage and more likely to compete for system resources.
Do not assume an unfocused game will keep progressing. A game may continue running while open, but another may pause when minimized, suspend background updates, disconnect after inactivity, or require an active network connection. Test the specific title before treating its background progress as reliable.

Not every Android game is available or behaves identically in Google Play Games on PC. Check that each title appears in your PC catalog; availability, controls, account behavior, and performance vary by game and compatible device, as Google notes on its service page.
What PC do you need?
Google lists these minimum requirements for Google Play Games on PC. They are requirements for the service, not a promise that multiple demanding games will run well:

- Windows 10, version 2004
- Solid-state drive with at least 10 GB of available storage
- Intel UHD Graphics 630 or comparable GPU
- Four physical CPU cores
- 8 GB of RAM
- Windows administrator account
- Hardware virtualization enabled
There is a meaningful difference between meeting the minimum to install the app and having enough headroom for two, three, or four games. Multiple open titles can raise CPU, GPU, memory, storage, network, and thermal demands. Laptops may be especially constrained by cooling, battery power, integrated graphics, or memory shared with the GPU. Google’s four-window limit is a software ceiling; usable capacity depends on the PC and games.

Google says Windows Hypervisor Platform may need to be enabled during installation, and CPU virtualization may need to be enabled in BIOS or UEFI settings for many games. Menu names vary by computer maker, so consult the PC or motherboard instructions rather than changing firmware settings blindly. Google also warns that other Android emulators may not work properly with Windows Hypervisor Platform enabled.

If a game does not respond, select its window and check that game’s control settings. Google’s troubleshooting guidance also recommends confirming that controllers and other input devices are connected correctly. A controller or keyboard is not automatically a dual-game control system; focus and the title’s own input support matter.
Fixing performance or launch problems
- Close unnecessary applications and one or more game windows to free resources.
- Lower graphics settings, starting with the background game.
- Confirm the PC meets Google’s requirements and that virtualization is configured.
- Restart Google Play Games from the Windows system tray, then restart the PC if needed.
- If installation fails, uninstall Google Play Games through Windows Apps and reinstall it using Google’s installation instructions.
- If the problem persists, use the installer’s feedback option to submit system information.
For a smoother arrangement, keep the actively controlled game in the larger window and test whether the secondary game continues updating before minimizing it. Reducing the background game’s graphics settings first is a practical way to limit its resource use.
Progress, cost, and what to expect
Google says progress can sync between mobile and PC for supported games, and a single purchase unlocks mobile and PC versions for select paid titles. Neither behavior applies universally. Google Play Games itself is free to use; individual games and in-game items may cost money, and a Google Play Pass subscription is not required just to open multiple windows. See Google’s current service information for catalog and account details.
