Square Enix’s SYMBIOGENESIS did not clearly move wholesale to Sony Block Solutions Labs’ Soneium blockchain. Announced on May 8, 2025, the collaboration was a limited-time, cross-game campaign: eligible players could enter a lottery for a commemorative NFT on Soneium, with benefits tied to Evermoon and Sleepagotchi. The campaign deadline was May 31, 2025, so it is no longer an actionable promotion.
What Square Enix and Soneium announced
The announcement connected three games: Square Enix’s narrative NFT game SYMBIOGENESIS, the onchain 5v5 battle game Evermoon, and the habit-oriented collectible mini-app Sleepagotchi. The shared reward was a Soneium commemorative NFT intended to link progress in SYMBIOGENESIS with benefits in the other two games. Soneium’s announcement described this as a joint campaign, not a complete relaunch of the Square Enix game.
How the campaign worked—and why it has ended
Under the historical campaign rules, players had to complete the Main Story epilogues for Chapters 1–4 by May 31, 2025, then enter a lottery for the commemorative NFT. The announcement named symbiogenesis.app as the game entry point. That deadline has passed; completing those chapters now should not be expected to qualify anyone for the NFT.

- Early access to the Evermoon beta and upcoming launches.
- Exclusive community-mission perks and eligibility for future benefits in Evermoon and Sleepagotchi.
These were described as game perks, access, and eligibility—not guaranteed financial returns. The announcement does not fully document how every reward was redeemed, whether the NFT was transferable, or how long each benefit would remain available.

Which blockchain held which assets?
Soneium’s technical notes distinguish the campaign reward from the game’s other blockchain assets:

That separation is why “debuted on Soneium” can mislead if read as a full technical migration. The official announcement establishes a Soneium-hosted campaign NFT; it does not establish that the game’s character NFTs, items, gameplay, or progression all moved to Soneium. In other words, “onchain” here did not mean “on one chain.”

What kind of game was Symbiogenesis?
Soneium described SYMBIOGENESIS as a narrative experience combining interactive storytelling, NFT character ownership, game progression, unlockable episodes, and branching choices. Its announcement attributed to the project 10,000 character NFTs, six chapters, and more than 1.1 million words of interactive storytelling. Those are figures from Soneium’s description, not independently audited measurements.
Why Soneium wanted the collaboration
The campaign demonstrated Soneium’s intended role as infrastructure for connections among games, digital assets, and entertainment properties. A reward earned through one title could offer defined utility in two others, giving players a reason to encounter more of the ecosystem.

That is a narrower claim than broad interoperability. The announcement described benefits across three named games; it does not show that the NFT could circulate freely across unrelated games or establish adoption, retention, or lasting utility at scale. The practical value also depended on whether a player wanted to use multiple Web3 games and whether the listed perks remained useful in each one.
Was this a PlayStation launch or a revival?
No PlayStation console release, console integration, or PlayStation-branded collaboration was established. Soneium is associated with Sony Block Solutions Labs, but Soneium and PlayStation are not interchangeable labels. Contemporary reporting from Decrypt and VentureBeat placed the campaign in the context of the game’s final season and a planned July 2025 discontinuation. The campaign announcement did not promise a permanent reboot or indefinite continuation.

The available authoritative information confirms the 2025 campaign but does not establish a definitive current service status for SYMBIOGENESIS. It is therefore more accurate to call the Soneium announcement an ecosystem collaboration near the end of the game’s planned lifecycle than to describe it as proof that the game was revived or saved.

Soneium’s campaign page listed MetaMask and WalletConnect support, a Discord account and MetaMask wallet as prerequisites, Chrome as the recommended browser, and the latest iOS or Android operating environment. It also listed English and Japanese language support and an 18+ age rating. These were historical campaign details, not evidence that the campaign or game remains available today. Anyone considering an unrelated Web3 promotion should verify its official terms and never install a wallet or connect one just because an expired offer is still described online.
