The digital endless runner ran from September 6 through September 30, 2024, alongside Google’s physical Playground activation at Zedd In The Park in Los Angeles. Players could dodge obstacles, earn promotional Play Points, and use them toward selected Zedd merchandise while supplies and terms applied.
What was Google Play Playground?
Google Play Playground was a Google Play Points marketing activation connected to the Zedd In The Park music festival at LA State Historic Park in Los Angeles. The physical installation was reported to cover approximately 3,600 square feet and included a view of the main stage, glow-in-the-dark games, an interactive dance floor, and a members-only bonus level for Play Points members.

It followed earlier Google Play physical promotions associated with events including Pokémon Go Fest and Comic-Con. For people who could not attend the Los Angeles festival, Google offered a digital version of the experience.

How the digital Playground game worked
The online experience was described as an endless runner set in a virtual Playground inspired by the Zedd In The Park activation. Players navigated the course, avoided obstacles, and scored points. Under the promotion’s terms, those points could be used toward selected Zedd-related merchandise.

This was not evidence that Google Play Points generally awards points simply for playing any game. It was a specific, Google-funded promotional experience. Google’s documentation describes several possible promotion formats, including quests, install promotions, boosts, and stamp cards; the Playground campaign was a gamified marketing activation tied to its own offer terms.
What rewards were offered?
Reported rewards for the 2024 promotion included:
- A signed, exclusive 12-inch vinyl edition of Zedd’s Telos.
- A limited-edition fanny pack from Zedd’s archived merchandise collection.
- A Google Play-exclusive Zedd In The Park bucket hat.
- A custom Zedd In The Park festival poster.
- A festival bundle containing Pixel Buds, a collectible festival bandana, and a pin.
These were promotional rewards reported for the 2024 event—not products that are currently confirmed to be in stock or redeemable. The available reporting did not establish the point cost of each item, the number of points earned per game run, shipping rules, inventory limits, or whether every reward was available in every country.
When did the promotion run?
The digital promotion ran from September 6 to September 30, 2024. The physical Playground was tied to the Zedd In The Park festival weekend in Los Angeles beginning September 6, 2024.

That date range matters because later pages have presented the Playground headline as though it described an active 2026 promotion. The dated original report supports a 2024 event, and there is no reliable evidence in the supplied official documentation that the original game remains live.
Can you still play or redeem the Playground rewards?
Not through the original promotion. Its published window ended on September 30, 2024. As of September 2026, readers should not assume that the game, its Play Points offer, or its Zedd merchandise catalogue can still be claimed.
Google’s current Play Points instructions place active promotions in the Play Store app:

- In the Lonely Hour (Drowning Shadows Edition) includes 14 tracks from the Deluxe Edition of his 2014 debut album, plus an additional 9 tracks featuring new songs, covers, live performances and collaborations
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Tap your profile picture in the upper-right corner.
- Tap Play Points.
- Open Earn.
- Review the promotions shown at the bottom of the page.
Open any listed offer and check its eligibility, activation requirement, start and end dates, qualifying action, point amount, and redemption restrictions. If the Playground offer does not appear there, treat the original campaign as unavailable to that account. Do not enter Google credentials or payment details on third-party pages claiming to restore the event.
Google says promotions can be country-specific, account-specific, time-limited, and sometimes require activation. That makes the Play Points dashboard more authoritative than recycled articles or search-result snippets.
Who could participate?
Play Points availability and promotion terms vary by country. Google’s general requirements include an eligible Google Play country, a compatible device or computer, an unmanaged Google Play account, a valid payment method, and a billing address matching the Play country.
Points belong to the enrolled Google Account. A different account on the same phone may have a different balance or may not see the same offer. School- or parent-managed accounts may also be excluded. Changing a Google Play billing country can cause points and level status to be lost.
For ordinary Play Points activity, points cannot be purchased, converted to cash, or transferred between accounts. Purchases made before joining the program do not earn retroactive points. Those general rules should not be confused with the separate terms of the 2024 Playground game.

- Activation is required before completing the action.
- The offer is restricted to a country, account, or new installation.
- The qualifying action requires a purchase, milestone, install, or a specific amount of activity.
- The promotion has a one-time limit or an end date.
- The reward is Play credit, an in-app item, a coupon, or physical merchandise.
For installation promotions, Google’s general help documentation notes that some offers can require a first-time installation and time spent in the app within a specified period. That does not prove those requirements applied to the Playground campaign.
After completing a current promotion, check Play Points → More → Points history. Credit may not always appear immediately. If points remain missing, confirm that the correct account was used, wait before repeating a one-time action, and contact Google Play support with the promotion details if the problem continues.
What later coverage gets wrong
Some pages published in 2026 appear to repeat the old Playground story as a live promotion without providing a verifiable Google announcement, current point schedule, reward catalogue, or official terms. That is not enough to establish that a new event exists.
The accurate description is narrower: Google ran a Play Points Playground promotion connected to Zedd In The Park in September 2024. A new promotion would need to appear in Google Play with its own dates and terms before it should be treated as active.
Google has previously described Play Points as having millions of members across multiple countries, but promotional membership figures should be treated as Google’s own claims rather than independently verified current totals. Availability is not universal, and the original Playground report did not provide a complete country list.
