There is no confirmed, universal Steam Deck crash fix for Gori: Cuddly Carnage in the available reports. The useful next step depends on what is happening: Proton Experimental was suggested for unresponsive controls, while one review reports that closing and reopening the game helped degraded performance after waking the Deck from sleep. Neither is established as a fix for crashes.
First, identify the symptom
“Crashing” can describe different problems, and the reports available for Gori: Cuddly Carnage do not show that they share one cause. Identify which case fits before changing settings:

If controls are not registering
A respondent in a Steam Community thread dated September 13, 2024 suggested trying Proton Experimental when Steam Deck controls were not registering in the demo. A developer replied, “Perfect advice. A Steam Deck HQ review says the game ran well for most of its evaluation, but sometimes performed worse and drained more battery after the Deck was woken while the game remained open. The reviewer said closing and reopening the game corrected that issue in their instance. If the game still crashes
Steam lists Wired Productions’ support email as [email protected]. Contact the publisher about a persistent game-specific failure. Include what happens, when it happens, and whether the game closes or displays an error so support can distinguish a launch failure from a crash during play.

A Steam Community thread includes fatal-error launch reports and differing suggestions, but those anecdotes do not establish a root cause or a consistently successful fix. The evidence therefore does not support recommending a particular Proton version as a crash remedy, reinstalling, changing storage or DNS settings, factory-resetting the Deck, or replacing hardware.
