How to download the Gran Turismo 7 Spec III update
Spec III is a free game update, separate from the paid Power Pack add-on. Polyphony Digital’s official product information dates its arrival to 4 December 2025. Sony’s announcement identifies it as update 1.65 and says an internet connection is required.

On PS5
- Highlight Gran Turismo 7 on the home screen or in the game library.
- Press the controller’s Options button.
- Select Check for Update.
- If an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install it.
PlayStation says games and apps also update automatically when started, but checking from the game tile lets you request an update manually. See the PlayStation game and app update guide.
On PS4
- Highlight Gran Turismo 7.
- Press the controller’s OPTIONS button.
- Select Check for Update.
- Follow the on-screen instructions if an update is found.
The reviewed official sources establish the launch version as 1.65, but do not establish the current GT7 patch number or the update’s download size. Check from the game tile rather than relying on an old version number or an estimated file size.

What to do if the GT7 update will not download or install
PlayStation’s recommended sequence for a failed game or app update is general console troubleshooting; it is not a Spec III-specific error-code fix. Try these steps in order:
- Test the connection: Open Settings > Network and test the internet connection. Spec III requires an internet connection.
- Restart the console: Restart the PS5 or PS4, then try checking for the update again from the Gran Turismo 7 tile.
- Update system software: Make sure the console’s system software is up to date, then retry the game update.
- Reinstall Gran Turismo 7: Delete the game and reinstall it from your Game Library or game disc. This is a later troubleshooting step because it requires reinstalling the game.
- Use Safe Mode if the problem persists: On PS5, choose Clear Cache and Rebuild Database. On PS4, choose Rebuild Database. Follow PlayStation’s official update troubleshooting guidance for the console steps.
- Contact PlayStation Support if the update still fails.
Spec III and Power Pack are different
Spec III is the free update; Power Pack is separate paid DLC announced for the PS5 version. Sony says update 1.65 is required for Power Pack and that players need to reach Menu Book No. 9 to access its features. The announcement describes the Power Pack launch offer as 50 races across 20 themed categories and 5,000,000 in-game Credits; those figures describe the DLC, not the free update. Check the live PlayStation Store listing for current regional price and availability.
