The Greatsword of Damnation is a Shadow of the Erdtree greatsword obtained by trading Midra’s Remembrance to Finger Reader Enia. It requires 20 Strength, 15 Dexterity, and 20 Faith, and its unique Golden Crux skill combines a leaping skewer with a barbs attack—and a grab against Tarnished opponents.
How to get the Greatsword of Damnation
- Reach Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame. The weapon is tied to his boss Remembrance in the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. The expansion requires Elden Ring’s base game; the official KADOKAWA expansion information says players must progress through the base game to a certain extent, but does not specify the exact threshold.
- Defeat Midra. He awards the Remembrance of the Lord of Frenzied Flame.
- Exchange the Remembrance with Finger Reader Enia. Choose the Greatsword of Damnation from the available Remembrance rewards. The route is also described by Game8’s weapon guide.
A Wandering Mausoleum can instead duplicate the Remembrance, but the item listing says only one copy of the Greatsword of Damnation can be obtained per playthrough through either method. Check Enia’s exchange options before spending the Remembrance on another reward.

Its split physical and holy attack and Faith requirement make it relevant to builds investing in both melee attributes and Faith. Meeting the minimum requirements lets you wield it, but does not by itself establish how much damage it will deal; that depends on character stats and game conditions.

What Golden Crux does
Golden Crux starts with a leap and overhead skewer. Against another Tarnished, a hit triggers the barbs to unfold as a grab. If the initial attack misses, an additional input releases barbs around the impact area. The item listing gives the initial action a cost of 21 FP and the follow-up a cost of 10 FP. How its moveset differs from a typical greatsword
Several attacks use thrusts rather than the more familiar greatsword slam: one- and two-handed heavy attacks, charged heavy attacks, and two-handed rolling and crouching attacks. The item page reports that these thrusting attacks are more compatible with the Spear Talisman. Treat that as a documented interaction, not a controlled comparison of damage or a guarantee that every hit benefits in every situation.

Is it a fit for your build?
- Check all three requirements: 20 Strength, 15 Dexterity, and 20 Faith.
- Consider the attack mix: its listed physical and holy attack values and Pierce-type attacks may suit a build that wants both melee and holy damage, but the figures alone do not prove it outperforms another weapon.
- Consider the skill’s matchup: the grab effect is specifically described for Tarnished targets; the miss follow-up provides a separate area attack.
- Account for its fixed identity: the sources describe a unique skill and do not establish that the weapon’s skill or affinity can be changed.
There is no controlled comparison here establishing the Greatsword of Damnation as categorically best for PvE or PvP. Choose it for its requirements, thrusting attacks, and Golden Crux utility rather than an unsupported universal ranking.
