Green Hell VR is a demanding jungle-survival game, but its editions are not interchangeable. Quest and PS VR2 have official co-op descriptions; the Steam version’s planned update was still scheduled for fall 2026 in Incuvo’s June roadmap. Choose based on your headset and the edition’s current features—not on an assumption that every platform has the same content.
What is Green Hell VR?
Green Hell VR adapts the original Green Hell as a first-person survival game in the Amazon rainforest. You play anthropologist Jake Higgins, who is lost in the jungle and follows a loved one’s voice while trying to survive and return to civilization. The core loop is practical and physical: gather resources, craft tools, build shelter, find food and water, and treat injuries while responding to wildlife and environmental hazards. Incuvo’s official site and the Steam listing describe body inspection, plant identification and treatment, hunting or gathering, changing weather and day-night cycles, combat, and sanity affected by physical and environmental conditions.

That makes this a better fit for players who enjoy managing interconnected survival needs than for those looking for a fast-paced action game. The story gives the struggle a direction, but survival decisions are the main attraction.
Which edition should you choose?
| Edition | Compatibility and play | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Meta Quest | Meta lists Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3, and Quest 3S; sitting, standing, and room-scale modes; single-player and co-op. | Standalone headset edition, suited to players who want untethered play. Incuvo says it is designed to maximize standalone performance; that is not a claim of PC-level visual fidelity. |
| PS VR2 | Requires a PS5, PS VR2 headset, and Sense controllers. The PlayStation listing supports sitting, standing, and room-scale play, and online play for up to four players. | PlayStation says online play requires PS Plus. Incuvo describes reworked lighting, high-resolution textures, and realistic shadows, but those are developer descriptions, not independent comparisons. |
| SteamVR / PCVR | Steam lists SteamVR and Oculus PC support. Its published minimum and recommended PC specifications are below. | The legacy PCVR build had missed updates and co-op, according to Incuvo. A PS VR2-derived Steam port was planned, but the developer’s June 26, 2026 update moved it to fall for further testing; the sources here do not confirm that it has shipped. |
Incuvo says the Quest and PS VR2 editions share a similar codebase, while the older PCVR build was substantially different under the hood. Treat feature availability as edition-specific: a feature described for one store listing should not be assumed to exist in another edition.

Co-op, updates, and included expansion
The Meta Quest and PS VR2 editions have official co-op descriptions for two to four players. Meta advertises play with up to three friends, while PlayStation lists online play for up to four players and requires PS Plus for online play. Incuvo announced co-op for those editions as free to owners of the single-player edition. These details do not establish co-op availability on the legacy Steam PCVR build.
Rank #2
Incuvo’s Steam-port announcement said the planned PS VR2-derived PCVR version aims to bring content updates and co-op to Steam. Its June 26, 2026 roadmap update moved that work to fall for further testing. Until a newer developer confirmation establishes release, do not buy the existing Steam edition on the assumption that the planned port or co-op is already available.
The Meta and PlayStation listings promote Spirits of Amazonia: Part 1 as a free prequel expansion. Meta describes it as adding 10+ hours of gameplay; that is the store’s stated duration, not an independently measured playtime. Check the listing for your specific edition before assuming expansion availability elsewhere.

What do player and critic reviews say?
Available scores differ across platforms and use different rating systems and review pools. They offer a snapshot, not a controlled comparison or a definitive verdict.
| Source and platform | Snapshot |
|---|---|
| Meta Quest Store, accessed 2026 | 4.2/5 from 6.1K ratings; 62% five-star and 8% one-star. |
| PlayStation Store, accessed 2026 | 3.71/5 from 1,025 ratings. |
| Steam, search-result snapshot accessed 2026 | 57% positive from 1,142 reviews, labeled “Mixed.” |
| Metacritic, search-result snapshot accessed 2026 | 83 critic score from six critic reviews; an aggregator figure, not a primary review. |
The figures do not support a simple critics-versus-players verdict: they cover different platforms, populations, and scoring methods. Use the review picture as a reason to consider the survival loop and platform differences, not as proof that one edition is objectively best.
Rank #4
Comfort, accessibility, and space
Meta lists sitting, standing, and room-scale modes and rates the game “Moderate” for comfort. That label is a platform disclosure, not a guarantee that its movement or intensity will suit every player.
The PlayStation listing identifies clear text, volume controls, 3D audio, basic controller remapping, advanced adjustable difficulty, manual saving, and pausing during offline play. It also lists options to play without rapid button presses, controller vibration, or adaptive-trigger effects. The listing says there is no spoken dialogue, so subtitles are not needed for dialogue; subtitles cover the main story and characters. For PS VR2 room-scale play, the listed minimum area is 2 m × 2 m. PlayStation warns that VR games may cause motion sickness.

Verdict: is Green Hell VR worth considering?
If managing food, water, shelter, injuries, and threats in a jungle sounds compelling, Green Hell VR has a clear survival focus and a story framework to support it. Quest is the straightforward choice for compatible-headset owners who want standalone play; PS VR2 is an option for PS5 owners who want that edition’s listed online co-op; PC buyers should distinguish the legacy Steam build from the announced, not-yet-confirmed port. The edition you can play—and the features confirmed for it—matters more than treating “Green Hell VR” as one identical release.
