The game also grew after launch, adding anti-gravity racers and more modes.
What is GRIP: Combat Racing?
Developed by Caged Element and published by Wired Productions, GRIP: Combat Racing combines high-speed arcade racing with weaponized vehicles. Its identity is not simply “racing with power-ups”: combat is central to the contest, alongside steering through demanding tracks at speed.
A 2018 review by MeriStation placed the game in the lineage of Rollcage and POD, and discussed its weapons, track environments and four-player local split-screen. That is useful period context, rather than a claim of new testing. Wired Productions’ game page reproduces Kotaku UK’s assessment: “There’s still nothing else on the grid quite like this”.
Is GRIP: Combat Racing worth playing?
It is worth considering if you want racing with a combative edge and a less conventional feel than cleaner arcade racers. Expect to engage with both vehicle combat and track navigation, rather than treating weapons as incidental extras. The range of event types and the later anti-gravity option broaden the package beyond its original wheeled-racing premise.

The same focus is also the main trade-off: players who prefer straightforward racing without persistent attacks may find the combat-heavy approach less appealing. The available sources establish the game’s design and modes, but do not provide a basis for judging how readable or easy to control its action feels to newcomers, or for claiming a hands-on verdict.
What platforms is GRIP: Combat Racing on?
Wired Productions’ release-era listing names PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, and gives 6 March 2018 as the release date. That is the publisher’s historical platform listing; it does not confirm present-day storefront status or compatibility for a particular edition. Check the relevant store or product listing for your platform before buying.

What changed after launch?
The game’s post-launch package expanded its original offering. A 2019 update added anti-gravity racers, while publisher announcements also described free tracks, team racing and deathmatch. The anti-gravity vehicles give players an alternative to the game’s wheeled racers; team racing and deathmatch add different ways to approach its combat.
Can you play GRIP split-screen?
The publisher announced split-screen multiplayer, tournament creation and online leaderboards. MeriStation’s 2018 review specifically described four-player local split-screen. Those announcements and period review details do not guarantee that every feature works identically on every current platform or version, so check the exact edition if local multiplayer is essential to your purchase.

Is there a physical copy of GRIP: Combat Racing?
Physical editions existed, but the cited Wired Productions shop page is framed as a pre-order and does not establish current stock. A collector’s edition listing described a physical PC copy with a bonus Xbox One digital download; that detail should not be assumed to apply to other editions or regions. Check the exact platform, region and seller’s listing, including what is physically included, before ordering.
