According to that account, development was “falling behind,” and Rockstar leadership was concerned the game might miss the 2025 window announced at the time. Rockstar’s May 2025 statement said the extra time was needed “to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve,” as quoted in the official announcement. A planned date is not a guarantee that no further change will occur.

Is GTA 6 delayed to 2026?
Yes, the release was officially moved out of its previous 2025 window in 2025, when Take-Two announced May 26, 2026. Later reporting gave November 19, 2026 as the planned date. That sequence does not turn the March 2024 anonymous-source report into an official announcement: at the time, it described a possible delay, while the actual schedule changes were announced separately.
