In Dune: Awakening, a guild is a player-created group—not one of the setting’s NPC organizations. Guilds reportedly start neutral, and their leader can later align them with House Atreides or House Harkonnen. That choice affects who can remain in the guild and connects the group to competition for resources and the Landsraad.
Player guilds and NPC guilds are different
A player guild is a group players form to play together. The game also includes organizations called guilds in the Dune universe, such as the Water Shippers, Spice Miner’s Guild, and Spacing Guild. Those are NPC organizations, not player recruitment groups.

How a player guild’s House alignment works
Guilds reportedly begin neutral
The Community Wiki says a newly formed guild starts neutral. Its leader may later align it with Atreides or Harkonnen as they progress. These mechanics are documented by a community-maintained wiki, so confirm the current options in the game before making a decision.
Reported creation cost
The Community Wiki lists a creation cost of 1,000 Solari Credits. Treat that as a reported cost, not a guaranteed current price; check the live in-game requirement before spending.

Alignment affects membership
According to the Community Wiki, neutral players can join a guild aligned with either House, but players aligned with the opposing House cannot. If a guild aligns with a House, existing members aligned with its opponent are reportedly removed immediately.
The same wiki says a guild returns to neutral immediately if its leader betrays their patron House. A player who betrays their faction is reportedly removed automatically from an aligned guild. Because these rules can affect a group’s membership, check the current game’s faction and guild information before changing allegiance.

Why guilds matter for the Landsraad
Funcom’s help page describes forming a guild and pledging allegiance to a House as ways to compete against other players for valuable resources, including spice, in large PvP maps and to gain political advantage in weekly Landsraad disputes. The Community Wiki says House alignment opens Landsraad access to guild members. That does not establish a particular reward or outcome: the Landsraad is a venue for political competition, not a guarantee of a specific benefit.
Funcom’s framing makes the practical choice clearer: a guild can organize friends around a House, resource competition, and political disputes. Since alignment also affects eligibility to stay in the group, coordinate the decision with members before the leader commits.

Finding a guild to join
If you are looking for players rather than creating a group, community directories can help you compare listings. The Community Wiki’s Player Guilds directory includes player-submitted details such as region or server, language, faction, and play style. A separate Dune: Awakening Guild Board also has recruitment listings and explicitly says it is not affiliated with Funcom or the official game. Treat both as changeable community resources, not official endorsements; confirm a listing is active and suits your server and preferences before joining.
Current guild size limits, officer roles, permissions, invitation steps, and disbanding rules are not established here. Check the in-game guild interface or current official help information for those operational details.
