What kind of game is Grounded 2?
Grounded 2 is an online co-op survival adventure from Obsidian Entertainment and Eidos Montréal, published by Xbox Game Studios. Players are shrunk to insect size and explore Brookhollow Park, where familiar park features become part of a dangerous survival environment. Xbox’s June 8, 2025 announcement introduced the setting and development collaboration.
What does the Into the Abyss update add?
Released August 11, 2026, Into the Abyss expands the game beneath the surface of Skunk Pond. Xbox says the update adds underwater exploration, craftable diving equipment, underwater base building, new creatures and the amphibious Toe Biter Buggy. Can you play solo or in co-op?
Grounded 2 supports solo play and online co-op. Obsidian also confirms cross-platform play, so players on supported systems can play together. Its cross-platform setup guide says players need an Xbox account and the relevant online-service subscription for multiplayer across platforms. It also warns that only one Microsoft/Xbox account can be linked.
Does Grounded 2 support cross-play and cross-progression?
Yes to cross-play: Obsidian’s official FAQ says cross-platform play is supported. For cross-progression, the FAQ specifically says progress saves between PC and Xbox; it does not establish cross-progression across every platform, so do not assume a PlayStation save transfers. Follow Obsidian’s account-linking guide before playing across platforms, and use the same linked account as required.

What did the Grounded 2 editions include at launch?
At the July 2025 preview launch, Xbox listed a Standard Edition with the base game and a Founder’s Edition with cosmetic skins and emotes, plus a digital artbook and soundtrack. The Founder’s extras were not gameplay advantages. The historical US launch prices were $29.99 for Standard, $39.99 for Founder’s Edition, and $10 for a Founder’s Pack upgrade during the preview period.
