Garden Coins come from Garden Ascension through Orson in Grow a Garden. Find Orson at the Garden Ascension stall, check the live request and reward, then submit the required Sheckles and fruit if you want to ascend. The exact cost, timing, reward and shop inventory have changed across reported versions, so use Orson’s current interface—not old guide prices—as the authority before committing resources.
How Garden Ascension earns Garden Coins
Garden Ascension is the progression loop tied to Garden Coins: completing Orson’s request awards coins, which can then be spent on in-game upgrades and other shop items. The basic sequence is to locate the Garden Ascension stall, review Orson’s request, provide the specified Sheckles and fruit, and collect the displayed reward.

The mechanic’s reported details differ by version. A 2025 guide and an archived 1.21.0 update describe a launch-era requirement of 1 trillion Sheckles plus one to three requested fruits, a reward of 10 Garden Coins, a 24-hour interval, and a reset of the player’s Sheckles to zero (Thsale’s 2025 guide; archived 1.21.0 update log). Those are historical details, not a dependable statement of today’s requirement.
A later, community-maintained Garden Ascension page instead reports a four-hour interval, a 1 trillion Sheckle base cost that rises by 2 trillion per ascension, and deduction of the required amount rather than a full balance reset (Grow a Garden Wiki: Garden Ascension). Because this account conflicts with the archived launch-era rules and is not official verification, treat it as a report, not a guarantee. The amount, fruit or mutation requirements, reward, and next available time shown by Orson in your game are the rules to follow.

What to check before ascending
- Read the full prompt. Confirm the Sheckle amount and every requested fruit or mutation. Do not assume an earlier ascension’s request will repeat.
- Check the reward and availability. Verify how many Garden Coins the current action awards and whether the interface says you can ascend now.
- Decide whether the resource cost is acceptable. The historical guide says ascension reset Sheckles to zero, while the later community account says only the required amount is deducted. Check the live prompt so you know what will happen to your balance before confirming.
- Confirm the resulting shop options. Look at the current Orson/Ascension shop before deciding how many ascensions you need; item costs and availability are not established by the older price list.
What Garden Coins can buy
Published snapshots associate Garden Coins with capacity upgrades, seed access and cosmetics, but they do not establish a complete current inventory or reliable current prices. The 2025 guide lists these historical examples; its prices should not be treated as live:
| Item or category | Historical price in the 2025 guide | What is established |
|---|---|---|
| Save Slot Upgrade | 50 Garden Coins | Listed by the 2025 guide; current price and availability are not established. |
| Egg Capacity Upgrade | 20 Garden Coins | Listed by the 2025 guide; current price and availability are not established. |
| Pet Inventory Capacity Upgrade | 20 Garden Coins | Listed by the 2025 guide; current price and availability are not established. |
| Cosmetic Inventory Capacity Upgrade | 10 Garden Coins | Listed by the 2025 guide; current price and availability are not established. |
| Plant Inventory Capacity Upgrade | 20 Garden Coins | Listed by the 2025 guide; current price and availability are not established. |
The same guide described special seeds in the Seed Stall’s Friendship tab. A later community reference says seeds that were once bought with coins were replaced by Daily Deals, while another later report mentions fence skins in Orson’s shop (Grow a Garden Wiki: Garden Ascension; Grow a Garden Wiki: Garden Coins). These accounts show that shop contents can shift; they are not a confirmed full list of what is currently purchasable.

How to choose an upgrade
Use the live shop’s displayed cost and limit to compare purchases against your own priorities. More save or plot capacity, egg capacity, or pet, plant and cosmetic storage each serve a different purpose; seeds and fence skins, if offered in your version, are different kinds of unlocks. The 2025 guide mentions purchase limits for several capacity upgrades, but the current limits are not established, so check each item’s entry.
To estimate how many ascensions a purchase would take, divide its live coin cost by the coin reward shown for each ascension, rounding up when the division is not exact. This is only a planning calculation: it does not account for changing rewards, unavailable ascensions, or any other in-game requirements. Do not use the old guide’s prices or reward as current inputs unless Orson’s interface confirms them.
