But the official command-line documentation does not establish a reliable gst-launch-only way to loop a file or playlist while keeping one uninterrupted YouTube ingest session. For dependable repetition, use an application or playout method that handles end-of-stream (EOS) while keeping the output pipeline running, and validate it with your installed plugins and a YouTube test event.
What the pipeline must do
A YouTube feed from a prerecorded file needs four stages: decode the source, convert the decoded streams to formats supported by the selected encoders, encode audio and video, then mux them into FLV for the network sink. GStreamer’s gst-launch-1.0 constructs and runs pipelines from elements; its documentation demonstrates file playback with filesrc and decodebin, including separate audio and video branches. The rtmpsink element sends data to an RTMP server and accepts video/x-flv. That means the output must be suitably FLV-muxed before it reaches the sink. rtmpsink is part of GStreamer Bad Plug-ins, so its presence cannot be assumed in every Windows installation. GStreamer rtmpsink reference.
Check your Windows GStreamer installation first

Inspect the elements your installed distribution provides with
gst-inspect-1.0 filesrc decodebin videoconvert audioconvert x264enc avenc_aac flvmux rtmpsink. Element availability and properties depend on the Windows package and installed plugins; usegst-inspect-1.0 ELEMENTto inspect any element individually. Check that the file can be read and decoded locally before adding the network output. If local display fails with
autovideosink, GStreamer’s Windows FAQ suggests tryingd3dvideosink. That is a local playback sink, not part of the YouTube output branch. GStreamer Windows FAQ. -
Do not assume a generic command works unchanged: confirm every element, property, negotiated caps, and the format of your YouTube ingest URL against the installed build.
Set YouTube’s encoder and ingest options
YouTube’s current encoder guidance supports RTMP or RTMPS ingest, H.264, H.265 (HEVC), or AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio, constant-bitrate (CBR) encoding, and frame rates up to 60 fps. H.264 video with AAC audio is a reasonable compatibility-first starting point from those supported choices, not a tested claim about a particular GStreamer pipeline. YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. Its recommended advanced settings specify stereo AAC audio at 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps. For H.264, YouTube’s published recommended bitrates vary by resolution and frame rate. These are YouTube’s recommendations, not independent performance measurements:

Pick a resolution and frame rate the source and encoder can sustain, then choose the corresponding YouTube recommendation only if your reliable upload capacity can support it. YouTube advises matching quality to dependable upload capacity and testing before an event. Recheck YouTube’s page for current settings because live guidance can change.
Get the stream URL and key, then connect the feed

In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or open the live stream. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown there. YouTube describes the key as the credential that tells the encoder where to send the feed and lets YouTube accept it. YouTube Help: set up a live stream with an encoder and YouTube Help: stream keys.

Keep the key private. Do not expose it in a public command history, logs, screenshots, or a shared configuration. If it is disclosed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before using it again.

Build the pipeline so decoded video and audio are converted and encoded, then muxed to FLV before the network sink. The GStreamer sink reference shows the general RTMP shape
... ! flvmux ! rtmpsink location='rtmp://server/path/to/stream live=1'; this is an illustrative RTMP example, not a ready-made YouTube command. Replace the server and path with the exact URL format YouTube gives your encoder, and do not publish or share a real key. -
YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingest. The cited
rtmpsinkreference documents RTMP behavior, so verify that your specific GStreamer sink build supports the RTMPS endpoint and URL form before relying on it. YouTube Help: encoder settings for live streaming and GStreamer rtmpsink reference. -
Start the encoder or pipeline, wait for the Live Control Room preview, check that picture and sound are correct, then select Go live when you are ready. YouTube Help: set up a live stream with an encoder.
Can gst-launch loop a video without dropping the live stream?
The official gst-launch-1.0 reference documents pipeline construction and file playback, but it does not document a command-line loop or playlist-repeat property. The available documentation therefore does not support promising that a one-line command can repeat a file seamlessly while preserving one uninterrupted YouTube ingest session.

When a source reaches EOS, restarting the whole process may interrupt or reconnect the stream. A production playout design should handle EOS by seeking or reopening the next source while keeping the output pipeline alive. GStreamer distinguishes command-line pipeline launching from application development and recommends gst_parse_launch() for applications that build pipelines programmatically. That makes an application-based loop a reasonable engineering direction, but the EOS behavior and continuity still need validation on your Windows build and YouTube event. Multiple-file playlists add another problem: the official references here do not establish a gst-launch-only playlist method. Do not concatenate arbitrary MP4 files as raw bytes and assume the result is a valid continuous media stream.

Run a short private or unlisted test event with the same file, output settings, plugins, ingest URL type, and loop or playlist logic you intend to use.

Verify the preview before selecting Go live, then observe whether playback reaches EOS, whether the next playback starts, and whether YouTube continues to receive the same ingest session.

Test the actual RTMP or RTMPS endpoint and key format provided in Live Control Room. Do not infer RTMPS support from an RTMP-only example.

Recheck the keyframe interval, CBR mode, selected video bitrate, audio format, resolution, and frame rate in the encoder output against YouTube’s current guidance.

For a playlist, test transitions between files with different codecs, frame rates, dimensions, audio layouts, or durations. The documentation cited here does not guarantee seamless transitions between arbitrary files.
Troubleshooting
