Short answer: XSplit’s current Free/Premium comparison and official FAQ do not state a maximum continuous-stream duration. That means the reviewed materials do not establish a time cap—but they also do not promise unlimited runtime. YouTube has a separate 12-hour archive caveat: streams longer than that may not be captured, even if the live broadcast continues.
Does XSplit limit how long you can stream?
XSplit’s published pricing comparison and Broadcaster FAQ do not specify a maximum length for a continuous stream. The careful answer is that no duration limit is stated in those materials, not that XSplit guarantees unlimited streaming. Check XSplit’s current Free and Premium comparison and Broadcaster FAQ for any terms that may have changed.
The listed Free and Premium differences concern resolution, watermark behavior, scene count, usage rights and production features—not a stated continuous-runtime cap. Nothing in the reviewed comparison establishes that Premium is required to keep a single YouTube output running continuously, or that Premium removes a duration limit.
What changes between XSplit Free and Premium?
XSplit’s comparison lists Free at $0, with streaming up to 720p without a watermark, a four-scene limit and personal use only. Higher resolution and some frame-rate use can add a watermark under Free. Premium includes commercial use, unlimited scenes and unrestricted resolution, alongside other features. These are plan distinctions, not stated stream-duration rules.

XSplit’s English pricing page listed Premium at $14.99/month, $59.99/year or $119.99 lifetime when reviewed in 2026; prices can change, so confirm the current terms on XSplit’s pricing page. Do not buy Premium on the assumption that it guarantees a longer session: the reviewed license materials do not say that.
Can you run XSplit on YouTube for 24 hours?
The reviewed XSplit terms do not answer that with a guarantee either way. A 24-hour broadcast also raises a separate YouTube issue: YouTube says a stream under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup. See YouTube’s archive guidance.

This is an archive warning, not a stated XSplit license limit or a universal YouTube rule that ends every live broadcast at 12 hours. Plan separately for keeping a recording if the footage matters.
Rewind and DVR are a separate consideration
YouTube says DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable for live streams longer than 12 hours. That affects viewers’ ability to rewind; it is distinct from whether XSplit permits the stream or whether YouTube archives it. Details are in YouTube’s DVR guidance.

Prepare an XSplit stream for a long run
Long-session reliability depends on more than license terms: the encoder, local machine, network connection and archive plan all matter. YouTube’s published encoder guidance gives these H.264 examples: 5 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps and 6 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps. These are YouTube recommendations, not XSplit license conditions; consult YouTube’s live encoder settings for the current guidance and other resolutions.
- Test before going live. Confirm the encoder connects and YouTube reports a healthy incoming stream before relying on it for an extended session.
- Leave upload headroom. YouTube recommends sufficient upload bandwidth rather than running the connection at its limit. Review its streaming tips.
- Monitor stream health. Watch for connection or encoding problems during the broadcast; a long stream can be interrupted by a local computer or internet failure even when the license permits streaming.
- Keep a local recording if the archive matters. YouTube specifically recommends a local archive backup, and advises checking that the local file is growing correctly.
