Rockstar’s current release date for GTA VI is November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
What did Johnny Ray Gill say about GTA?
In an interview with Check It TV, Gill discussed earlier performance work in the Grand Theft Auto world, including recording multiple voices while wearing a helmet. Insider Gaming reproduced his subsequent remarks this way:

“Stay on the lookout. I can’t say anything, but there’s another situation happening in that world that may be coming out in 2025, 2026 that I’m really happy about.”
He added, “I mean, I don’t know! I don’t know! Stay tuned.” When pressed, he reportedly said, “We will see, we will see…” Insider Gaming’s December 19, 2024 report reproduced the remarks. The Game Post also reported that Gill did not explicitly identify GTA VI.

Is Johnny Ray Gill in GTA 6?
It is plausible that Gill was hinting at a project related to GTA VI: he spoke about “another situation” in the GTA world and mentioned a possible 2025 or 2026 arrival. But he did not say “GTA VI,” confirm that he had been cast, or identify a character. Contemporary reports associate Gill with performance work in GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2; that earlier work does not establish that he is in the next game.
There is no official Rockstar or Take-Two statement confirming Gill’s possible GTA VI casting, and the available reporting contains no direct confirmation from Gill. The accurate description is that he made an ambiguous, tentative hint—not that he announced or revealed a GTA 6 role.

Is GTA 6 coming in 2025 or 2026?
Rockstar’s current information lists Grand Theft Auto VI for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The date appears on Rockstar’s GTA VI page and in its pre-order announcement, which describes the game as a single-player experience.
Gill’s “2025, 2026” phrasing was not a release-date announcement. It was his uncertain estimate of when an unnamed project or situation in the GTA world might arrive. The dates in older reporting should not be mistaken for Rockstar’s current schedule:

These dates reflect different points in time and different kinds of statements. Gill’s comment was tentative, Take-Two’s pipeline was a dated snapshot, and Rockstar’s current page and announcement give the release date to use now.

Take-Two’s investor presentation reported more than 215 million Grand Theft Auto series units sold, nearly 455 million Rockstar Games franchise units sold, and more than 475 million views in 24 hours for GTA VI Trailer 2’s cross-platform debut. Those figures show the franchise’s scale, but they say nothing about Gill’s casting. Take-Two’s investor materials are the source for those figures.
