You can enter them with platform-specific controller sequences, in-game phone numbers, or (on PC) console commands. Save before using a cheat: activating one can disable trophies or achievements for the current session, and cheat-enabled mission ratings are capped at Bronze.
How to enter GTA 5 cheat codes
Cheats are for Story Mode free roam, outside missions. A new save must reach the open world before cheats can be used. The same codes do not work in GTA Online.

PS5 and PS4
Enter a button sequence during free roam, using the D-pad for directional inputs. A confirmation message appears when the game accepts it. The PS5 and PS4 codes and phone numbers are the same in Vandal’s guide.
To enter a phone number, press Up on the D-pad to open the phone, choose Contacts, press Square to open the dial pad, enter the number, then press Square again to call. Vandal’s PS4 and PS5 guide lists the platform sequences and phone numbers.

Xbox
Enter the Xbox button sequence during Story Mode free roam. The Xbox table below uses Xbox labels—RB, RT, LB, LT, A, B, X, and Y—not PlayStation equivalents. Phone numbers are also an option; use the in-game phone’s dial pad to enter the number and place the call.
PC
On PC, open the in-game command console, type the command in uppercase, and press Enter. On common keyboard layouts, the console opens with the tilde key or the key immediately to the left of 1. You can also use the in-game phone: press Up, then Space to open the dial pad, enter the number, and press Space to call. PC Gamer documents the commands and phone inputs in its GTA 5 cheats guide.

What to know before using cheats
Save and protect trophy or achievement eligibility
Make a manual save before activating cheats. Vandal says gameplay cheats temporarily disable trophies for the current PlayStation session; reloading a save or rebooting restores eligibility. PC Gamer notes that achievements are disabled after a cheat is enabled. Reload your clean save after experimenting if you want to resume progress without cheats active.
Expect limits and side effects
- Invincibility lasts five minutes, according to Vandal’s guide.
- The weapons-and-ammunition cheat gives a fixed selection with limited ammunition, not an unlimited arsenal.
- Wanted-level cheats adjust your stars one at a time.
- Slow-motion aim and slow-motion gameplay cycle through levels rather than switching between only on and off.
- Vehicle cheats need suitable open space. Aircraft and the Buzzard need more room and will not spawn in a tight interior.
Is there a GTA 5 money cheat?
No. PC Gamer states that GTA 5 has no money cheat, including in single-player. A code or phone number claiming to add cash is not one of the Story Mode cheats listed here.
