If your GTA Online character is missing in GTA 5 Enhanced on PC, start by checking that you are signed into the Rockstar Games account linked to the correct PC storefront account. Online profiles and Story Mode saves use different migration procedures: migrate Online from Enhanced, but upload a Story Mode save from Legacy and download it in Enhanced. Rockstar’s February 27, 2025 instructions say Legacy remains playable after migration, but progress no longer syncs between editions.
First, identify what did not carry over
“Missing features” can mean several different things, and each has a different fix. Determine whether the problem is a GTA Online character, a Story Mode save, audio, a setting, or another specific feature. Note the exact error message and whether you launch through Steam, Epic Games, the Xbox app for PC, or Rockstar Games Launcher.

Before retrying a migration, confirm which Rockstar Games account is signed in and which PC platform account it is linked to. Rockstar says PC storefront versions share characters and progress when connected to the same Rockstar Games account. Its account guidance is at Rockstar’s PC account and progress guidance.
Migrate a GTA Online profile to Enhanced
Online profile migration starts in GTA 5 Enhanced. Rockstar’s instructions, last updated February 27, 2025, describe using either the Enhanced Landing Page or the Pause Menu. If you have already played GTA Online in Enhanced, use the Pause Menu route.

- This game will no longer support Windows 7 or 8 operating systems starting January 30, 2024.
- Launch GTA 5 Enhanced on PC and sign in to the intended Rockstar Games account.
- Open the GTA Online Landing Page or, if you have already played Enhanced Online, open the Pause Menu.
- Choose the profile to migrate and confirm the migration.
- Wait for the in-game alert confirming completion. Some migrations may take longer than expected.
Rockstar says Online play in both editions is unavailable while a migration is underway. Migration is from PC Legacy to PC Enhanced only; PC-to-console and console-to-PC transfers are not supported. Suspensions or bans, or illegitimate or insufficient profile progress, can make a profile ineligible. See Rockstar’s GTA Online profile migration instructions.
Move a Story Mode save separately
Story Mode migration is a save upload and download, not the Online profile migration. Start in Legacy, then retrieve the save in Enhanced.

- Check that the Rockstar Games account is linked to the PC platform account you intend to use.
- In Legacy, open Pause Menu → Game → Upload Save Game, select the save, confirm, and wait for the successful-upload message.
- In Enhanced, download the save from the Story tab on the Landing Page or through Pause Menu → Game → Download Save Game. If Enhanced already has Story Mode saves, use the Pause Menu route.
Rockstar allows one uploaded save per account at a time; you can replace it before downloading it in Enhanced. After a successful Enhanced download, Rockstar says no further Story Mode migrations are available on that account. An uploaded save is available for 90 days and may be removed afterward. What happens to Legacy after migration?
Migration does not delete the Legacy Online profile. You can continue playing Legacy and Enhanced, but the two editions progress independently after migration: progress earned in one does not sync to the other. The same applies to later Story Mode progress in Legacy after you have moved a save to Enhanced. Decide which edition you intend to use for ongoing progress before splitting play between them.

If the profile or save is still missing
- Check the account pairing: Verify the signed-in Rockstar account and its link to your Steam, Epic Games, or Xbox app for PC account. A different Rockstar account can make expected progress appear absent.
- Check the migration type: Online migration must be initiated in Enhanced; Story Mode must be uploaded in Legacy before it can be downloaded in Enhanced.
- Read the exact message: An eligibility notice, a migration-in-progress alert, and a missing-save symptom point to different issues. Follow the relevant Rockstar support route with that message and your storefront details.
Do not unlink and relink platform accounts as a routine troubleshooting step. Rockstar says Steam, Epic Games, and Xbox app for PC unlinking must be handled by Rockstar Support, and changing links can affect progress in some circumstances. Review Rockstar’s account unlinking guidance and contact Support about your specific account.

For missing cutscene or other in-game audio, Rockstar’s April 8, 2025 guidance identifies the audio driver, device, or sound configuration as possible causes. Check that your sound hardware is supported and its drivers are supported and up to date. In Windows, set speaker configuration to match the speakers connected—for example, do not choose 5.1 output for a stereo setup. When update notes do—and do not—help
Rockstar’s title update 1.70 notes include fixes for particular Enhanced PC problems, among them driver-related launch messaging, DLSS/VRAM issues, and GTA+ recognition. Those notes cover fixes recorded through May 6, 2025; they do not establish whether an unspecified issue is fixed now. Check the entry that matches your exact symptom in Rockstar’s title update 1.70 notes rather than assuming every missing feature has the same cause.
