IGN’s GTA 5 interactive map is designed to help you locate story missions, side activities, collectibles, services and other points of interest across Los Santos. Its guide description lists a broad set of filters, but a map marker is a navigation aid—not proof that an activity is complete or required for 100% completion.
What the GTA 5 interactive map can show
IGN describes its map as covering Los Santos locations, quests, collectibles and other points of interest. The guide page includes the map, while its description directs readers to the full GTA 5 map page for filters. The captured guide description lists these filter families:

- Locations: barbers, clothing stores, ATMs and automotive shops.
- Activities: parachuting, races, shooting and darts.
- Entertainment: cinemas and strip clubs.
- Services: police stations, hospitals, fire stations and car washes.
- Collectibles: action figures, submarine parts, spaceship parts and hidden packages.
- Places: lookout points, mountain peaks, properties and houses.
- Items: vehicle spawns, weapon pickups, health packs and body armor.
- Quests: missions, gang attacks, Lenny Avery Realty and random events.
- Online categories: apartments, peyote plants, garages and hangars.
- Mysteries and other markers: Easter eggs, skate parks and railway stations.
These are the categories named in the guide description; it does not establish that every marker is available in every game mode or that the list is exhaustive. Check the map itself for the controls and categories currently offered.
How to use map markers without confusing them for progress
- Choose a category first. Filter to the kind of objective you are pursuing—such as a mission, activity or collectible—so unrelated pins do not obscure the route.
- Read the marker’s details. Before traveling, check whether it has a prerequisite and what action completes it. GTADB distinguishes collectible positions, activity entrances and challenge areas; visiting a marked location may not finish the associated activity. See its GTA V 100% checklist.
- Track progress separately. GTADB says its checklist saves in the browser, but does not sync with a Rockstar account or game save. A checklist on a guide site is not your in-game completion record.
- Use coordinates as leads, not guarantees. GTADB says its coordinates draw on game-script and community mapping data, and that not all locations have been independently verified in-game.
Why a full map is not the same as the 100% checklist
An interactive map can include optional discoveries, services and activities alongside objectives that count toward a particular completion goal. GTADB explicitly cautions that not every mapped location is required for 100% completion. Check the condition for the specific category rather than trying to clear every pin.

Spaceship parts: a prerequisite and a follow-up mission
GTADB lists 50 spaceship parts. Its Story Mode notes say Franklin must meet Omega in “Far Out” after “Fame or Shame” to unlock the hunt; any protagonist can collect the parts, but the follow-up mission returns to Franklin. The marker count alone therefore does not tell you when the activity becomes available or who must finish its story.
Challenge totals can differ from trophy goals
GTADB’s category guidance says any 25 of 50 Stunt Jumps and any 25 of 50 Under the Bridge challenges count toward its listed 100% target, while all 50 of each are needed for the stated trophy or achievement goals. For Knife Flights, it lists any 8 of 15 for the completion target and all 15 for the Close Shave requirement. These are GTADB’s guidance; check the relevant in-game tracker for your version if a particular threshold matters.

How many collectible locations are there?
PowerPyx reports “245 Collectible Locations” for GTA V in its collectibles guide (2026). That is a secondary guide’s count, not an official total, and its definition of collectible locations may not match the categories or marker count used by an interactive map. Treat it as a guide-specific scope rather than a target that every player must clear for 100%.
