What is the GTA 5 ray tracing mod?
AdamJensen2029’s Realistic Visual Ray Tracing Simulation GTA V is a visual preset built around ReShade and ENB. It uses shaders and effects to imitate aspects of ray-traced lighting rather than enabling the game’s full hardware ray tracing. The distinction matters: the listing itself describes the result as a simulation, not full-fledged ray tracing.

The Nexus Mods page lists version 12.0 and says it was last updated on 4 February 2024. That date does not establish that the preset works with the newest GTA V build. Check the listing for current compatibility notes and back up your game files before changing them.
How to download and install the preset
The author lists ENB and ReShade (DX11) as requirements and provides the following installation sequence. These are the author’s instructions, not independently verified steps; confirm that the files and directions still match your GTA V edition and build before proceeding.

- Check the current mod page. Read the version and compatibility notes on the Nexus Mods listing before downloading.
- Install ENB. Download ENB, then copy the files from its
WrapperVersionfolder into the GTA V game folder, as the mod author directs. - Install ReShade for DirectX 11. Get ReShade from its official website, as specified by the mod author.
- Copy the preset files. Copy the downloaded mod files into the game folder and allow file replacement when prompted, following the author’s instructions.
- Select the preset in-game. Launch the game, press Home, and select the preset in ReShade.
- Apply the author’s compatibility setting if needed. The listing says to set
GTA5.EXEto Windows 7 compatibility mode. This instruction has not been confirmed for current builds.
Use this setup only in Story Mode. Rockstar lists ReShade among graphics-modification software that may be disabled or cause launch or operating problems under BattlEye. What performance impact should you expect?
The mod author estimates that the preset “takes away 20 – 30 FPS.” The listing provides no test PC, resolution, settings or benchmark method, so treat that as the author’s estimate—not a guaranteed result or an independently measured benchmark. Actual performance will depend on the system and configuration.

Gameplay trailer and 8K support
A DubStepZz video listing published 26 September 2020 is titled “GTA 6 Graphics – RTX 3090 8k Resolution Gameplay! Ray Tracing Ultra Settings GTA 5 PC Mod!” Its description identifies the footage as GTA 5 with NaturalVision Evolved, captured on a GeForce RTX 3090 in 8K. Those are creator-provided details about a separate setup, not evidence that the ReShade/ENB preset above supports native 8K or requires an RTX 3090. The listing does not establish an 8K output feature for this specific preset.

These are distinct projects, not interchangeable versions of the same preset. Check each project’s own edition and build requirements before installing; a visual mod’s mention of ray tracing does not by itself mean it adds the game’s native ray-tracing features.
