Rockstar’s official GTA VI page sets the story in Vice City and the wider state of Leonida. It centers on Jason and Lucia, partners drawn into a conspiracy across the state. Rockstar writes, “Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them.”

Rockstar’s character profiles name the following cast members:
- Jason Duval: A former Army serviceman now working for local drug runners in the Keys.
- Lucia Caminos: Imprisoned in Leonida; her family has a history in Liberty City.
- Cal Hampton
- Boobie Ike
- Dre’Quan Priest
- Real Dimez: Bae-Luxe and Roxy.
- Raul Bautista
- Brian Heder
These are officially named GTA VI characters. Rockstar’s profiles do not describe them as returning characters from earlier games, so their inclusion should not be presented as confirmation of a past-game cameo.

Is Phil Cassidy in GTA 6?
Meristation identifies a figure appearing around 2:09 in Trailer 2 as Phil Cassidy, a character known from GTA III, Vice City, Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories. That identification is the outlet’s reading of the trailer, not a name Rockstar has published in its GTA VI character profiles.
Meristation also notes a continuity complication: the 3D-era and HD-era games have different canons. Its framing is that the apparent appearance is better understood as a possible HD-era reinterpretation or homage than as proof that the earlier version’s history continues unchanged. This is the outlet’s interpretation; the reviewed Rockstar material does not provide a specific canon ruling about Cassidy.

How certain is the apparent cameo?
Keep three levels of certainty separate when discussing GTA VI characters:
- Officially named by Rockstar: Characters listed in Rockstar’s published GTA VI profiles.
- Identified by reporting: The figure Meristation reads as Phil Cassidy in Trailer 2.
- Fan theory or speculation: Unconfirmed identities, connections to earlier events, or claims about a character’s importance to the plot.
A visual resemblance or cameo does not by itself establish that events from another continuity carry over. Meristation says the trailer may suggest an arms shop and television-ad appearances for the figure, but the outlet does not establish how significant the role is to the story. Treat those details as reporting, not as an official Rockstar biography or plot confirmation.

Is GTA 6 connected to Vice City?
Yes: Rockstar places GTA VI in Vice City and Leonida. That confirms the setting, not that every earlier Vice City character or event is part of the same continuity. In particular, the possible Cassidy appearance does not settle whether the 3D-era character’s history is carried into the HD-era game.
What is known about GTA 6’s release?
Rockstar and Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 announcement says GTA VI launches November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The announcement also says the physical version will be available November 12 to support pre-loading, with a download code in the box rather than a disc.
