Its October 2026 update expands the mapped world, adds an interiors layer and refines building locations, while marking which claims come from trailers, screenshots, community analysis or leaks.
What GTA 6 community map Version 17 adds
The clearest dated scale update comes from Leonida Explorer’s October 13, 2026 change log. The community dataset now contains 3,149 mapped points, including 206 newly added places. The update also resolved 72 names to exact districts and repositioned hundreds of existing pins. The mapping community’s dataset, identified there as gtadb.org data under CC BY 4.0, moved forward 21 commits.

Those figures describe the community database, not a Rockstar-published location total. Leonida Explorer separates structures inferred from community work from places identified directly in trailers and screenshots. Pins based on leaks can be hidden by default and are labeled separately, allowing readers to distinguish stronger evidence from unverified claims.

| Version 17 change | Documented figure or detail | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Mapped points | 3,149 | Current community-dataset total reported by Leonida Explorer on October 13, 2026 |
| New places | 206 | Newly added points in that dated dataset |
| Names matched to districts | 72 | Improved geographic labeling, not 72 confirmed new locations |
| Repositioned pins | Hundreds | Corrections and refinements to earlier map work |
| Data revision | 21 commits | Progress in the community mapping dataset, not a game patch |
More detail away from the coast
WikiGTAVI’s October 15, 2026 update says the Version 17 preview adds an interiors layer while giving newly detailed inland areas more attention. That matters because earlier fan maps were often easiest to follow around heavily shown coastal districts. Inland coverage remains an interpretation of available media and community positioning, so a denser-looking area should not be mistaken for an official confirmation of every building.

How many GTA 6 interiors are enterable?
WikiGTAVI counts about 296 confirmed interiors in its community analysis. “Confirmed” in this context means supported by the community’s evidence and counting method; it is not a number published by Rockstar. Rockstar has only said the game will have enterable interiors “in the hundreds,” and no exact official total has been released.
Because the game is unreleased, the community count can change as new footage is examined, pins are corrected and Rockstar changes the final world. Treat 296 as a current working count for the Version 17 analysis rather than a guaranteed launch total.

What the interiors layer shows
The layer is intended to identify structures that the mapping community believes have an accessible interior. Examples visible in footage or map analysis include apartments, a nightclub, a strip club, a diner, airport spaces, gas stations and vehicle garages. These examples demonstrate the range of spaces being tracked; they are not a complete Version 17 inventory.

Do blue buildings mean you can enter them?
In the Version 17 convention, blue buildings indicate a known or inferred interior, while grey buildings have no known interior in the community’s data. On maps that support the feature, approaching a blue building can reveal a 3D floor plan.

Blue is therefore a reading aid, not a final-game access guarantee. The original r/GTA6 post describing Version 17 says blue buildings are enterable, but commenters also warn that community mapping is not perfectly accurate. A blue mark may represent an interior seen in official media, a strong community identification or an inference that could change. It does not establish that every room is freely accessible, that the building will remain unchanged, or that the final release will use the same entrance.
Which GTA 6 regions are represented?
PC Gamer’s guide, updated August 18, 2026, identifies six known regions used in the fan-map framework:
Rank #4
| Region | What its inclusion means |
|---|---|
| Vice City | The principal urban area reconstructed from official media and community analysis |
| Mount Kalaga National Park | A large natural region represented alongside the city |
| Grassrivers | An inland area whose detail has expanded in newer map work |
| Leonida Keys | The island chain included in the broader Leonida reconstruction |
| Ambrosia | One of the named regions tracked by the fan map |
| Port Gellhorn | A separate named region in the current community geography |
GTAMI’s interactive map labels its YANIS V16 basemap “WIP Official media + community positions.” It also states that pins are approximate and have not been verified against a released game. Version 17 should be read in that same pre-release context: geographic coverage is broad, but positional precision and access claims remain provisional.

Not every pin has the same evidentiary weight. Use this hierarchy when deciding whether a newly mapped place is likely to survive into the game:
- Official media: A building, sign, street or interior visible in Rockstar trailers, screenshots or other released material.
- Community identification: A location inferred by matching landmarks, road layouts, architecture or repeated footage across the mapping project.
- Leak-derived claim: A pin based on leaked material, which the map labels separately and can hide by default.
A location can move between categories as new evidence appears. “Mapped” means the community has recorded a point; it does not mean Rockstar has confirmed its name, coordinates or accessibility.
Quick Recap
How to use the interiors information on the map
- Open the Version 17 view or the current community map. Check the update date, because the project changes as contributors add commits and correct pins.
- Turn on the interiors layer. This separates buildings with a known or inferred interior from the general point-of-interest layer.
- Use the color convention. Start with blue buildings for likely interior locations; grey buildings indicate that no interior is currently known in the dataset.
- Inspect the floor plan or evidence notes. A 3D floor plan, trailer frame or screenshot match provides more context than color alone.
- Check provenance before treating a claim as fact. Look for an official-media reference, a community identification or a leak label.
- Allow for changes. Approximate pins, renamed districts and revised interiors are normal for a work-in-progress map of an unreleased game.
What Version 17 still cannot establish
- There is no authoritative, itemized Rockstar changelog naming every new Version 17 building or interior.
- The approximately 296-interior figure is a community count, while Rockstar’s public statement remains only “in the hundreds.”
- The 3,149-point and 206-new-place totals are community-dataset measurements, not an official count of GTA 6 locations.
- A blue building is a useful indicator of a likely interior, but it is not proof of a permanent final-game access rule.
- The map remains pre-release and can change when new trailers, screenshots, commits or corrections become available.
