Rockstar has not published the game’s graphics-mode names, resolution targets, HDR controls or PlayStation 5 Pro behavior. Current secondary reporting says the launch target is 30 frames per second on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles, but that is a reported development status rather than an official Rockstar settings specification.
That means there is no reliable “best GTA 6 settings” list yet. You can prepare your display correctly, understand what the eventual menu needs to disclose and avoid treating GTA V’s graphics options, internet rumors or the PS5 “Plays Best On” slogan as GTA VI specifications.

What is confirmed for GTA 6 on consoles
Rockstar has confirmed PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions. Its official GTA VI site currently lists PlayStation 5 with the wording “Plays Best On”. That is a platform-positioning statement, not a measured promise of a particular resolution, frame rate or visual feature. Rockstar has not published a numerical advantage for PS5 over Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S or any other console tier.

#1 Best Overall
- Quality Visuals: The VG270K 27" IPS monitor with 3840 x 2160 UHD resolution in a 16:9 aspect ratio presents stunning, high-quality images with excellent detail. The zero-frame design does away with the thick frames found on conventional monitors freeing up precious screen space.
- AMD FreeSync Premium Technology: Say “goodbye” to stuttering and tearing. With AMD FreeSync Premium, the monitor’s frames are synced with the graphics card’s frames, which eliminates screen tearing and provides the smoothest gaming experience.
- Quick Refresh Rate: Different content has different refresh rate and resolution requirements. If you are playing an FPS or racing game, you will need a monitor with a high refresh rate. However, if you are doing office work or streaming videos, a higher resolution will be more beneficial. With DFR technology, users can choose a higher resolution, or a higher refresh rate based on what is suitable for them.
- Responsive: Up to 0.5ms GTG (Gray to Gray) response time enhanced gamers’ in-game experience. No matter if the fast-moving action or any dramatic transitions will be rendered smoothly without the annoying effects of smearing or ghosting.
- ZeroFrame Design: With a Nitro VG270K monitor, you’ll want to see as much of the display as possible. Get more real estate with the near bezel-less design, allowing you to see more and do more. The ZeroFrame design lets you place multiple monitors next to each other for a seamless, almost uninterrupted view.

Will GTA 6 run at 60 FPS on PS5 or Xbox?
The best-supported answer today is: do not expect a confirmed 60 FPS mode at launch. GamesRadar reported that Rob Nelson said the game would launch at 30 FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles “for now.” That is a secondary report about the development status, not a graphics specification published by Rockstar. It also leaves open the possibility of future changes without promising them.
A 30 FPS target does not by itself tell you whether the game will hold a consistent frame time, use a quality/performance toggle or change visual features dynamically. Until Rockstar documents the final menu and testing shows behavior in the released build, statements such as “GTA 6 has a 60 FPS performance mode” or “GTA 6 is locked at 30 FPS everywhere” go beyond the available evidence.
Why a reported 30 FPS target matters
Thirty frames per second gives the engine twice as much time to render each frame as 60 FPS. A 30 FPS game can therefore spend more of its budget on world detail, traffic, lighting, animation, simulation and image quality. The trade-off is less immediate motion than 60 FPS, especially during driving, camera rotation and aiming.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhen the game launches, judge smoothness by frame-time consistency rather than the headline number alone. A stable 30 FPS can feel substantially better than a mode that frequently misses its 16.7-millisecond 60 FPS frame budget. Rockstar has not published a frame-time target or a performance-mode table, so those details must be confirmed in the final build.

Is GTA 6 native 4K?
There is no official GTA VI resolution target in the material Rockstar has published. That means you should not describe the game as native 4K, dynamic 4K, checkerboard 4K or 4K/30 until Rockstar identifies the output and internal-rendering behavior.
“4K” can refer to several different things on a television. A console may output a 3840-by-2160 signal while rendering internally at a lower or variable resolution and reconstructing the image. A game may also change its internal resolution during heavy scenes to protect frame rate. The console’s output setting and the game’s render resolution are therefore not interchangeable.
What a useful launch settings table should contain
If Rockstar adds selectable modes, a meaningful comparison should report all of the following rather than only a “4K” label:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- Frame-rate target and observed frame-time stability.
- Output resolution and internal render-resolution behavior, including whether either is dynamic.
- Ray tracing or other lighting features enabled in each mode.
- Texture, shadow, crowd, traffic and draw-distance differences.
- HDR availability, tone-mapping behavior and in-game calibration controls.
- The console tier tested: PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S.
- Whether a 120 Hz display is required for any 40 FPS option.
None of those GTA VI mode names or numerical targets has been published by Rockstar yet. Do not reuse GTA V’s 4K options as evidence for GTA VI; the games have different engines, visual targets and hardware requirements.

How to prepare HDR for GTA 6
Rockstar’s general HDR troubleshooting guidance applies to display setup, not to a confirmed GTA VI-specific menu. Use it as a sensible starting point while waiting for the game’s own instructions.
- Confirm HDR capability. Use a television or monitor that supports HDR and verify HDR is enabled in the console’s display settings.
- Use an HDMI 2.1 connection where available. Connect the console directly to an HDMI 2.1 input on the display, or ensure any receiver, switch or soundbar in the chain supports the same signal.
- Enable Game Mode. Game Mode usually reduces display processing and input delay. The label varies by television manufacturer.
- Disable automatic picture enhancements while troubleshooting. Turn off AI, Smart, Dynamic or Adaptive picture processing if those controls alter brightness, contrast or color from scene to scene.
- Turn off Dynamic Tone Mapping. Rockstar’s guidance recommends disabling it for troubleshooting rather than allowing the television to remap the game’s HDR signal automatically.
- Enable HGIG if the display supports it. HGIG can keep tone mapping under the console/game calibration path, but the option is display-dependent.
- Run the game’s calibration only after the display is configured. If GTA VI includes brightness, paper-white or peak-luminance controls, follow its on-screen pattern and save the result for the display input used by the console.
These steps do not prove that GTA VI will expose a particular HDR slider or use a specific tone-mapping standard. They reduce common causes of a washed-out, too-dark or over-processed HDR image once the game is available.
HDR symptoms and practical fixes
- Image looks gray or flat: check that the console and display both report HDR as active, then disable Dynamic Tone Mapping and competing dynamic picture modes.
- Bright areas clip: redo the game or console HDR calibration and avoid stacking the television’s Dynamic, AI or Adaptive processing on top.
- Dark scenes lose detail: confirm Game Mode has not changed the display’s black-level setting and repeat calibration from the game’s own pattern if one is provided.
- HDR does not activate: test the console directly on an HDR-capable HDMI input and remove an incompatible receiver, switch or cable from the signal path.
What should PS5 Pro owners expect?
There is no official GTA VI performance target or enhancement announcement for PS5 Pro in the available Rockstar material. A PS5 Pro may eventually receive a patch, but no resolution increase, higher frame rate, ray-tracing upgrade or dedicated mode is confirmed.
Do not infer PS5 Pro behavior from the PS5 slogan “Plays Best On.” Rockstar does not define that phrase with a measurable resolution or FPS advantage, and it does not identify PS5 Pro in the wording. A definitive comparison requires Rockstar’s patch notes or an in-game menu that names the console-specific behavior.

Will GTA 6 support a 40 FPS or 120 Hz mode?
No such mode has been announced. If a 40 FPS option appears later, it would normally require a 120 Hz-capable display because 40 frames per second divides evenly into a 120 Hz refresh cycle. That is a general display principle, not evidence that GTA VI will offer 40 FPS.
Until the final menu is documented, leave the console and television on their normal supported settings rather than buying a 120 Hz display specifically for an unannounced mode. A 120 Hz television can still be useful for other games, but it is not a confirmed GTA VI requirement.
Recommended console and display setup before launch
You can prepare without guessing at unpublished graphics options:
- Install the console on a direct, well-ventilated connection and keep system software current.
- Use an HDR-capable 4K display if you want to evaluate the game’s eventual HDR and resolution output, but do not assume the game will render natively at 4K.
- Connect through HDMI 2.1 when the display and console support it.
- Save a separate Game Mode picture profile for the console input.
- Record the television’s default HDR settings before changing them, so you can restore them for other content.
- On launch, check the game’s display menu, patch notes and console-specific labels before changing advanced options.
How to evaluate the final graphics menu
When GTA VI is installed, first note the exact wording Rockstar uses. A menu called “Quality” and “Performance” is not enough by itself; look for the target frame rate, resolution behavior and feature changes attached to each choice.
Best Value
- Improved ComfortView Plus: Reduces harmful blue light emissions to ≤35%, for all-day comfort without sacrificing color accuracy.
- Refresh rate: A smooth, tear-free experience with AMD FreeSync Premium (refresh rate up to 120Hz) and an ultra-low 0.03ms response time create a captivating experience for work and play.
- Vivid colors: Immerse yourself in breathtaking 4K visuals with in-plane switching technology. Enjoy vibrant colors with 99% sRGB. The 1500:1 contrast ratio and HDR readiness deliver excellent depth and detail.
- Re-engineered sound quality: Enjoy more detailed sound with spacious audio featuring greater output power, deeper frequency response and more decibel range than the previous generation.
- Ultra-thin bezel: Designed with a sleek, modern aesthetic and an ash white finish, this display features ultra-thin bezels for a refined, minimalist design.
- Update the game fully and restart it after the update completes.
- Open the in-game display or graphics section and write down every available mode, HDR control and refresh-rate requirement.
- Check whether HDR calibration is separate from the console’s system calibration.
- Test a repeatable route containing driving, dense traffic, interiors and a busy outdoor scene.
- Compare motion and image detail with the same display processing enabled, rather than changing television modes between tests.
- Check for a later patch before treating launch behavior as permanent.
This approach separates a genuine game setting from a television feature. It also prevents an output signal labeled 4K from being mistaken for native 4K rendering.
Physical GTA 6 console edition: disc or download?
Rockstar’s support information says the physical console package contains a download code and that “A disc will not be included in the box.” Physical copies are expected from November 12, 2026 for pre-loading, while the game’s launch remains scheduled for November 19.
That package therefore still requires an internet download and does not provide a disc for offline installation or resale in the traditional sense. Confirm the regional listing and activation requirements before purchase, because availability and packaging can vary by market.

What not to assume from early coverage
- A reported 30 FPS launch target is not an official Rockstar performance-mode table.
- A 4K television output is not proof of native 4K rendering.
- GTA V’s graphics modes do not establish GTA VI’s modes.
- “Plays Best On” PS5 does not quantify a resolution, frame-rate or visual advantage.
- General HDR troubleshooting advice does not confirm a GTA VI HDR slider, calibration value or tone-mapping implementation.
- PS5 Pro hardware does not guarantee a GTA VI enhancement without an official patch or documented mode.
- A 120 Hz display is not a confirmed requirement unless Rockstar announces a 40 FPS or other high-refresh option.
Bottom line on GTA 6 console settings
As of October 18, 2026, the defensible expectation is a PS5 and Xbox Series X|S launch on November 19 with a reported 30 FPS target, while 4K targets, named graphics modes, GTA VI HDR controls and PS5 Pro behavior remain unresolved. Prepare an HDR-capable display with HDMI 2.1 and Game Mode, disable dynamic processing when troubleshooting, and wait for Rockstar’s final menu and launch documentation before calling any mode native 4K, 60 FPS or PS5 Pro enhanced.
