The muralist, who posts on Reddit as u/Omfish, said the team hoped to finish on Friday, October 9, 2026, if the work stayed on plan. That is a target from the artist, not a confirmed completion, and none of the reporting we reviewed shows a finished wall. The artist also says the piece is temporary and will likely be painted over before the game is released.
Where the mural is
The wall is at the corner of Wythe Avenue and North 11th Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The design shows the Grand Theft Auto logo, the characters Jason and Lucia, and palm trees. Notebookcheck reports that the same site was used for GTA V promotion in 2013. That detail comes from the report and has not been checked against separate records.

Who is painting it
The artist describes working as a freelance muralist for Colossal Media and says the crew paints full time. The reporting describes the mural as produced through Colossal based on the artist’s own account. It does not establish the contracting chain between Rockstar, Colossal, and the individual painters, so this article does not say that the artist was hired directly by Rockstar.

- Friday, October 9, 2026: The date the artist hoped to finish, conditional on the work going to plan.
How long the artist says it takes
The artist’s estimate reads: “Takes 1-2 weeks of 8-10hr days.” This is one painter team’s own account of its workload for this wall. It is not measured production data and should not be read as an average for murals in general.
Whether it is finished
The finish date was a plan stated before October 9. As of the most recent report we reviewed, the mural was described as nearly complete, not complete. Readers should treat it as finished only once a newer report or a photo confirms it.

How long it will stay up
The artist was direct about the lifespan: “Oh this is NOT permanent at all. This will be gone probably before the release date tbh. We paint full time so these ads stay up a month or so.” The one-month figure is the artist’s general experience with ads of this kind. It is not a fixed removal date for this wall, and no removal date has been announced.
Colossal’s Rockstar history
GTA BOOM, reporting on October 6, 2026, quoted a public statement from Colossal Media. The statement said: “Twenty-two years ago, we painted our first campaign with our very first client, @rockstargames,” and “Two decades later, we’re back at it for GTA 6. From Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in 2004 to GTA 6 in 2026, tradition continues.” The 22-year gap is Colossal’s own framing of its 2004 and 2026 Rockstar campaigns. It is a company claim and has not been independently verified.
What has and has not been announced
Notebookcheck’s October 8 report says Rockstar had not announced the additional screenshots, gameplay footage, or trailer that fans had speculated might follow the mural. Speculation on social media is not a Rockstar announcement. The reporting also found no official print, replica, or collectible of the mural, so no purchase option for the artwork itself has been confirmed.
