No native Apple Silicon version of The Elder Scrolls Online has been announced. As of October 8, 2026, ESO’s support page says ARM-based Macs are not officially supported, and the game currently runs on them as an Intel app through Apple’s Rosetta translation layer. ZeniMax Online Studios says it is committed to keeping Mac players able to play when macOS 28 arrives in fall 2027, but has not identified the solution or given a release date.
Does ESO run natively on Apple Silicon Macs?
No—not according to the available official statements as of October 8, 2026. ESO currently runs as an Intel-based application through Rosetta on Apple Silicon Macs, according to Jessica Folsom, ZeniMax Online Studios’ Associate Director of Community, in a September 17, 2026 forum post. ESO Support separately says ARM-based Macs are not officially supported. Whether the Intel client happens to run on an individual Mac is different from being an officially supported configuration.
Folsom’s post says the studio is committed to making sure Mac players can keep playing when macOS 28 arrives, but it does not announce a native Apple Silicon client, specify another technical solution, or set a delivery date. What changes when macOS 28 arrives?
Folsom said Apple would end support for Intel-based applications with macOS 28, expected in fall 2027. That creates a future compatibility issue for ESO’s current Rosetta-based Mac path. ZeniMax’s commitment is specifically that Mac players will be able to keep playing; it is not confirmation that ESO will become native, nor a guarantee about performance or the date a solution will arrive.

Can you try ESO on an M-series Mac now?
ESO Support lists several display-related suggestions for players having trouble on ARM-based Macs. The support article says these workarounds are not guaranteed, so treat them as troubleshooting options rather than fixes or evidence of official support.
- Try playing in windowed mode.
- Change the display to a scaled “More Space” resolution.
- Start ESO in windowed mode on an external display, enter the game world, then move the game to the primary monitor.
- Use the Display Menu app to select a fixed resolution.
These steps and the caveat are listed in ESO Support’s ARM-based Mac guidance. If they do not help, the article says you can log into the same account on another PC or Intel-based Mac that meets the game’s requirements.

What are ESO’s listed Mac requirements?
ESO’s published Mac minimums include macOS High Sierra 10.13, a Mid-2017 Mac or newer, at least 4 GB of GPU memory, 105 GB of free disk space, and a persistent broadband internet connection. The support page says requirements may change and directs readers to its ARM Mac guidance. These baseline Mac requirements do not override the separate statement that Apple Silicon Macs are not officially supported.
