Take-Two said Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto VI launch marketing was set to begin in summer 2026. That plan is now historical: as of October 8, Rockstar’s official page features an extended look marked “Now Playing.” The company’s current published release date remains November 19, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S—but it is a scheduled date, not a guarantee against a delay.
When does GTA 6 come out?
Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two’s May 21 release table lists that date and those platforms, and Rockstar’s official game page continues to show them. Take-Two’s fiscal-year 2026 results and Rockstar’s GTA VI page are the current published references.

Take-Two also referred to excitement around the November 19 launch in its August 7 fiscal first-quarter update. These statements describe the company’s schedule and confidence; they do not guarantee that the date cannot change.
When did GTA 6 marketing start?
On Take-Two’s February 3, 2026 fiscal third-quarter earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick said Rockstar’s launch marketing was set to begin in summer. He said: “Our execution throughout Fiscal 2026 has been extraordinary and we are highly confident as we approach Fiscal 2027 – which promises to be groundbreaking for Take-Two and the entire entertainment industry – led by the November 19th release of Grand Theft Auto VI with Rockstar’s launch marketing set to begin this Summer.” That was an investor-facing statement of confidence and a planned campaign start, not independent confirmation of the game’s development status. What campaign material is available now?
Rockstar’s official GTA VI page lists “An Extended Look — Now Playing” and an August 27, 2026 news item. That is concrete campaign material published after the summer kickoff plan; the page does not establish a more precise date for when marketing activity first began. What editions and formats were announced?
Rockstar and Take-Two announced preorders on June 24, 2026, with preorders due to begin June 25 at midnight local time. The announcement gave these prices:

The preorder announcement said digital preloads could begin November 12, 2026, and that the physical box would be available that day to support preloading. This is the announced plan, not confirmation of live retailer stock or availability in a particular location.

Where is GTA 6 set, and who are its leads?
Rockstar’s official description names Jason and Lucia and places their story in Leonida, including Vice City. The cited official material does not support adding further plot details or treating particular trailer claims as confirmed story information. Rockstar’s game page has the official premise.
