Rockstar has confirmed pre-orders for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, while Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 announcement sets the console launch for November 19, 2026. No Windows edition, PC release date, CPU, graphics card, RAM, storage, DirectX or Windows requirement has been published in the authoritative material currently available. You can still audit your computer now, but any online table claiming exact GTA VI specifications is an estimate or rumor until Rockstar publishes a PC listing.
What is officially confirmed about GTA VI
Rockstar’s support page, last updated August 18, 2026, says that players can pre-order Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It does not list Windows, Steam, the Epic Games Store, or any other PC platform. Take-Two’s official announcement dated June 24, 2026, gives November 19, 2026 as the launch date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and also omits a PC version.

Why you cannot quote GTA 6 minimum requirements yet
A genuine minimum or recommended specification needs a defined PC build, operating-system target, graphics settings and performance goal. Rockstar has supplied none of those for GTA VI. Consequently, the following values are unresolved: processor model or core and thread target, graphics processor and video-memory capacity, system RAM, storage capacity and interface, Windows edition or build, DirectX level, ray-tracing support, upscaling requirements, resolution and frame-rate targets.

A page that lists an exact RTX or Radeon model, a precise RAM figure or a fixed installation size is making a prediction. It may be a sensible prediction based on the game’s trailers, engine technology or the requirements of other recent releases, but it is not a Rockstar specification. Labeling such a table as “official” can lead you to buy the wrong component or upgrade before a PC build is even announced.
Rockstar’s broad company strategy has been described by Take-Two chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick as launching over time on platforms with a meaningful audience. PC Gamer reported that statement on September 18, 2026, but it is a general strategy comment, not a GTA VI PC commitment or release window.
Use this six-step audit to record your PC today
The audit does not predict a pass or fail because no GTA VI thresholds exist. It creates an accurate baseline that you can compare field by field when an official PC page appears.
- Record Windows. Open Settings > System > About. Write down the Windows edition and the complete build number, not just “Windows 10” or “Windows 11.” Requirements can distinguish editions or builds, so keep the wording exactly as Windows displays it.
- Record the processor. In the same About page, copy the processor’s full model name. Do not substitute a family label such as “Core i7” or “Ryzen 7”; different generations and power limits can have very different performance.
- Record installed memory. The About page shows installed RAM. Note the total in gigabytes and whether the machine is a desktop or laptop, since laptops can use shared memory or have upgrade limits that a desktop does not.
- Record the graphics card and dedicated VRAM. Open Task Manager > Performance and select the GPU. Copy the exact model and the dedicated GPU-memory figure. If the computer has more than one adapter, record each one and identify which drives the display or the game. A vendor control panel can provide a second confirmation of the model and VRAM.
- Check the intended drive. In File Explorer, find the drive where you would install the game. Record its free space and whether it is an SSD or an HDD. Check the actual destination rather than the total capacity of another drive; a large secondary HDD does not provide free space on a nearly full system SSD.
- Set a performance target. Write down the resolution and frame rate you want, such as 1920×1080 at 60 frames per second or 2560×1440 at 60 frames per second. A future requirement table is meaningful only when paired with a target like this. “Can it run?” could mean merely starting the game, maintaining 30 frames per second, or sustaining 60 frames per second at a particular image quality.
Save the results in a note or spreadsheet with the date. Hardware drivers and Windows builds can change, and a dated snapshot makes later comparisons less error-prone.

What each recorded specification tells you
CPU model
The processor entry is more useful than a broad brand tier. Once Rockstar publishes requirements, compare the complete model and generation, then check any stated core or thread expectation. Open-world simulation can stress the CPU even when the graphics card appears fast enough, so do not use GPU performance alone as a verdict.
GPU model and VRAM
Record the exact desktop or laptop GPU and its dedicated VRAM. Two cards with similar names can differ substantially between mobile and desktop versions. If an official list includes a ray-tracing tier or an upscaling requirement, match those details rather than comparing only the marketing series name.
System RAM
Installed RAM is not the same as free RAM. The audit records capacity; when troubleshooting later, also check whether background applications leave enough memory for the game. Compare the official minimum and recommended figures separately if Rockstar publishes both.

Free space and drive type are separate checks. An SSD may satisfy a storage-type requirement while still lacking enough free capacity. Conversely, a drive with adequate capacity may be an HDD that does not meet a future requirement. Keep both facts in your record.

Windows edition and build
Do not assume that a computer capable of running another game automatically meets GTA VI’s operating-system requirement. Copy the edition and build shown in Settings, then compare them with Rockstar’s wording when it becomes available.
Do not reuse GTA V Enhanced requirements as GTA VI requirements
Rockstar’s official GTA V Enhanced page demonstrates the kind of checklist a future GTA VI page might use, but its numbers apply only to GTA V Enhanced. They are a historical comparison, not a compatibility test for GTA VI.
| GTA V Enhanced tier | Windows | System RAM | Graphics card examples | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | Windows 10 | 8GB | GeForce GTX 1630 or Radeon RX 6400 | 105GB SSD |
| Recommended | Windows 11 | 16GB | GeForce RTX 3060 or Radeon RX 6600 XT | 105GB DirectStorage-compatible storage |
The GTA V figures can help you understand the difference between a minimum and a recommended tier, but they cannot establish a GTA VI floor. A PC that meets the GTA V Enhanced recommended row might still fail a future GTA VI requirement, while a newer low-power system might differ in ways that the old table does not capture.
How to compare your PC when an official GTA VI page arrives
- Confirm the page is official. Use Rockstar’s support or news pages, or an official store listing that names the publisher. A screenshot reposted on social media is not enough.
- Check the platform first. Make sure the listing is for Windows and identifies the edition or launcher you intend to use. Console specifications cannot be converted into PC requirements.
- Match the minimum tier. Compare your Windows build, CPU model, GPU model and VRAM, RAM and storage against every minimum field. A stronger GPU does not compensate for an unsupported operating system or insufficient RAM.
- Match the recommended tier to your goal. If Rockstar provides separate targets, use the recommended row for a smoother experience and relate it to the resolution and frame rate you want. Do not interpret “recommended” as a guaranteed frame-rate promise unless Rockstar states the test conditions.
- Check special technologies. Look for separate notes about ray tracing, upscaling, DirectStorage, SSD interface or laptop graphics. These requirements can change the answer even when the headline GPU model looks adequate.
- Allow installation headroom. Compare the listed capacity with free space on the actual destination drive. Updates, shader caches and the operating system also consume space, so do not plan to fill an SSD to its last few gigabytes.
Keep a copy of the official wording and publication date. Requirements can be revised before launch, and a later update may split one tier into several graphics or ray-tracing targets.

Do you need an SSD for GTA 6?
There is no official GTA VI storage requirement yet, so nobody can state that an SSD is mandatory for the PC version. An SSD is nevertheless one of the fields to check because Rockstar specifies storage type for some PC releases, and the GTA V Enhanced minimum already calls for a 105GB SSD while its recommended row calls for 105GB DirectStorage-compatible storage. Those GTA V values do not transfer to GTA VI.
For your readiness record, identify the drive type and available capacity separately. If your intended installation drive is an HDD, do not “pass” it based on free gigabytes alone; wait for Rockstar to state whether an SSD or a particular interface is required. If it is an SSD, still reserve enough free space for the official installation size and future updates.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to treat leaked or predicted requirement tables
- Look for a primary source. A table should be traceable to a Rockstar support page, official store listing or another publisher-controlled announcement.
- Check the date and platform. Requirements for a console version, a different game, a trailer demo or an internal development build do not establish PC requirements.
- Reject false precision. Exact model numbers, storage sizes and Windows builds presented without an official citation are estimates, even when they look plausible.
- Wait for corroboration. Independent reports can become more credible when an official listing repeats the same fields, but repetition among rumor accounts is not confirmation.
Until Rockstar publishes a PC page, use predictions only for general planning and do not make an expensive purchase solely to meet a leaked table.
Should you upgrade before the PC version is announced?
For GTA VI specifically, an upgrade today cannot be matched to a verified threshold. If you need a new computer for other games or applications, choose components for those confirmed workloads and treat future GTA VI performance as uncertain. Keep your purchase flexible rather than paying a premium for a rumored model number.

Before buying, write down the result you need: resolution, target frame rate and whether you value ray tracing or a high-refresh display. Then compare the complete system, including CPU, GPU and VRAM, RAM, Windows support and SSD capacity. A balanced machine is safer than spending the entire budget on a graphics card while leaving an older processor, insufficient RAM or a nearly full drive.
When Rockstar announces a PC edition, reassess the system using the six recorded fields. If your PC falls below minimum in one category, address that category first; replacing unrelated hardware may not solve the limiting condition.
Checklist to revisit before buying the PC version
- Rockstar has published a Windows listing and a dated requirements page.
- Your Windows edition and build match the supported version.
- Your full CPU model meets the stated minimum or recommended tier.
- Your GPU model and dedicated VRAM meet the stated graphics tier.
- Your installed RAM meets the corresponding tier.
- Your intended installation drive has the required type and enough free space.
- Your planned resolution and frame rate match the tier you selected.
- Any ray-tracing, upscaling or DirectStorage notes apply to your configuration.
- You have checked for updates to the requirements since the original announcement.
The Bottom Line
Rockstar has not announced GTA VI PC requirements or a PC edition. The November 19, 2026 date applies to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Record your CPU, GPU and VRAM, RAM, Windows build, SSD capacity and performance target now, then compare them with Rockstar’s official Windows requirements rather than relying on leaked tables.
