Rockstar has announced Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, launching November 19, 2026, but it has not listed a PC edition or published PC minimum or recommended requirements. That means there is no confirmed CPU, graphics card, RAM, VRAM, storage, operating-system, resolution, or frame-rate target to use for a purchase decision.
The useful move today is to document your hardware, keep the system maintained, and wait for an official Rockstar PC store page or support article. Treat every pre-release requirements table online as an estimate unless Rockstar publishes the specification itself.

Why you should distrust early GTA 6 requirements lists
Unofficial tables often present a named processor, a particular graphics card, a RAM figure, a large download size or an SSD requirement as if it were settled. None of those figures appears in Rockstar’s official material currently available. They may be predictions based on graphics demonstrations, other games or assumed console hardware, but a prediction cannot tell you whether Rockstar will support a given Windows version, how its PC renderer will scale, or what frame rate its developers will define as acceptable.
A table can be useful only when its author labels every value as an estimate and explains the assumptions. It is not a purchasing specification. Buying a component solely because an unverified article calls it “GTA 6 ready” can leave you with the wrong balance of CPU performance, graphics memory, cooling, power delivery or storage.
- Confirmed: a statement published by Rockstar identifying a platform, date or requirement.
- Unconfirmed: a forum post, retailer listing, leak, prediction or table without a Rockstar source.
- Not yet knowable: the exact PC settings, shader compilation behavior, ray-tracing requirement, loading-space requirement and performance targets.
What “Can my PC run GTA 6?” means right now
There is no honest yes-or-no answer for a PC because there is no announced PC build to benchmark or requirements list to compare. You can answer a narrower question: “What hardware do I own, and is it in good working order?” That inventory will let you make a direct comparison when Rockstar publishes specifications.
Do not convert the absence of requirements into a guarantee. A modern gaming computer may be powerful, but performance depends on the eventual PC port, graphics settings, resolution, frame-rate target, driver support and optimization. Conversely, an older computer could become viable if the port scales well, but there is no evidence to promise that outcome.
Make a complete hardware inventory
Record the following in a note or spreadsheet. Include the exact model name rather than a marketing family name, because different models in one family can have very different performance and memory.

- Processor model and core/thread information.
- Graphics-card model, dedicated VRAM and driver version.
- Installed system RAM and the amount available to Windows.
- Windows edition, version and build number.
- Each game drive’s type, capacity and free space.
- Power-supply wattage and model, if you may upgrade the graphics card.
- Monitor resolution and refresh rate, if you have a target for future play.
Use Windows Settings for the basic record
- Open Settings > System > About. Copy the processor name, installed RAM, device specifications and Windows edition.
- Open Settings > System > About > Windows specifications and record the version and OS build.
- Open Settings > System > Display > Advanced display to record the monitor’s resolution and refresh rate.
- Open Settings > System > Storage. Expand each drive and note its total and available space. Identify which drive is an SSD and which is a hard disk if both are installed.
Confirm graphics details with DirectX Diagnostic Tool
- Press Windows key + R, type
dxdiag, and press Enter. - On the System tab, record the operating-system version, processor and memory.
- Open each Display tab. Record the card name, display memory, driver date and driver version. If your computer has integrated and discrete graphics, record both.
- Select Save All Information to create a text copy for your records. Do not publish serial numbers or other identifying data if you share the file.
Capture the same information in PowerShell
On Windows 10 or Windows 11, open PowerShell and run these read-only commands:
Get-CimInstance Win32_Processor | Select-Object Name,NumberOfCores,NumberOfLogicalProcessors
Get-CimInstance Win32_VideoController | Select-Object Name,AdapterRAM,DriverVersion
Get-CimInstance Win32_ComputerSystem | Select-Object TotalPhysicalMemory
Get-ComputerInfo | Select-Object WindowsProductName,WindowsVersion,OsBuildNumber
Get-PhysicalDisk | Select-Object FriendlyName,MediaType,Size
AdapterRAM is reported in bytes and can be converted to GiB by dividing by 1,073,741,824. Use the value shown in DirectX Diagnostic Tool or the graphics-card software as a cross-check, because Windows may report shared or reserved memory differently from dedicated VRAM.
Check the power supply before considering a GPU upgrade
Shut the computer down, disconnect it from power and read the wattage and model on the power-supply label through the case window or after removing the side panel according to the case manufacturer’s instructions. Record the connector types as well. Do not infer safe capacity from a graphics-card name alone: a future requirement could depend on sustained power, transient behavior, case airflow and the rest of the system. Never open the power-supply housing itself.
Keep the PC ready without buying GTA 6 hardware
Install stable operating-system and driver updates
Use Settings > Windows Update to apply current Windows updates, then check the graphics-card manufacturer’s official driver channel for a stable release. Keep a restore point or backup before a major driver change if your system is used for work. A current driver can resolve existing game problems, but it is not proof that the eventual GTA 6 PC build will run.
Maintain storage headroom
Keep meaningful free space on the drive used for games and Windows so updates, shader caches and temporary files are not forced into a nearly full volume. Rockstar has not published GTA 6’s installation size, required free space or whether an SSD will be mandatory. Do not repeat a guessed capacity as an official requirement. If your game drive is a hard disk, note that fact in your inventory; whether the PC version requires an SSD will be known only when Rockstar lists it.

Check temperatures and stability
Dust-clogged filters, a failing fan or dried thermal compound can make a computer throttle before a demanding game reaches its intended performance. Monitor CPU and GPU temperatures while running games you already own, clean the case using the manufacturer’s guidance, and investigate crashes or clock-speed drops now. These steps improve reliability generally; they do not establish GTA 6 compatibility.

Back up saves and important files
Before replacing a drive or reinstalling Windows, back up documents and game saves to a separate location. Verify that the backup can be opened. A hardware upgrade is not a substitute for a recovery plan, and a future PC release may require a fresh installation or a large update.

When Rockstar publishes a PC store page or support article, copy its minimum and recommended specifications exactly, including any footnotes. Then compare each line with your inventory rather than relying on a single “equivalent” label.
| Comparison field | What to look for in Rockstar’s listing | What to compare in your inventory |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | Model, generation, core or thread notes and whether the entry is minimum or recommended. | Your exact processor model and its core/thread information. |
| GPU | Model, architecture, driver notes and any ray-tracing condition. | Your exact graphics-card model and driver version. |
| VRAM | Dedicated video-memory amount, if specified. | Dedicated VRAM, not merely total shared graphics memory. |
| System memory | Minimum and recommended RAM. | Installed RAM and the amount available after Windows and background software. |
| Operating system | Required Windows edition, version or build. | Your Windows edition, version and build number. |
| Storage | Installation size, required free space, medium and whether an SSD is mandatory. | Free space and whether the target drive is an SSD or hard disk. |
| Resolution and frame rate | The settings, resolution and frame-rate target attached to each tier. | Your monitor’s resolution and refresh rate, plus the performance you want. |
| Upscaling or ray tracing | Whether a feature is optional, recommended or required for a listed target. | Whether your GPU supports the specified feature and driver level. |
Separate minimum from recommended
A minimum specification normally describes the lowest supported configuration, not a promise of high settings or a particular frame rate. A recommended specification is meaningful only when Rockstar states the target resolution, preset and frame rate beside it. If those conditions are missing, record the omission rather than assuming a target.
Check every component, not just the GPU
A graphics card that meets a listed line cannot compensate for a processor below minimum, insufficient system memory, an unsupported operating system or inadequate storage. Compare the weakest line first. If Rockstar provides separate requirements for ray tracing, treat that as a distinct configuration rather than folding it into the ordinary recommended tier.

Use the published date and version
Requirements can change between an initial PC launch and later patches. Save a copy of the official page with its publication date and check for revisions. Compare your inventory against the current listing, not an undated screenshot or repost.
Should you upgrade before Rockstar announces PC requirements?
Wait when GTA 6 is the only reason for the purchase
If your computer runs your existing games and applications acceptably, postponing a GTA 6-specific purchase is the least risky choice. No component can be called a confirmed requirement today, and a guessed upgrade may miss the eventual bottleneck.
Upgrade for an existing, measurable problem
An upgrade can still make sense when it solves a problem you can observe now: insufficient storage for your current library, repeated crashes, thermal throttling, inadequate power capacity or a graphics card that already fails to meet the games you play. Document the problem and the improvement you expect. Do not describe that general-purpose upgrade as a GTA 6 guarantee.
Consider the whole platform if you replace a major part
Replacing a processor may require a new motherboard and memory; replacing a graphics card may require a stronger power supply, more case clearance or better cooling. Price and plan those dependencies together. Until official requirements exist, a balanced system that serves your present games is a more defensible goal than chasing an unnamed future model.
When could a GTA 6 PC version be announced?
Rockstar has not provided a PC announcement or PC release date in the official information currently available. The confirmed November 19, 2026 date applies to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Do not turn historical release patterns, retailer pages or rumors into a date. The reliable trigger for PC planning will be an official Rockstar announcement followed by a requirements page or store listing.
A practical checklist for October 2026
- Write down the exact CPU, GPU, dedicated VRAM, RAM, Windows build, drive type and free space.
- Save a
dxdiagreport and keep the power-supply model with your records. - Install current Windows and stable graphics-driver updates.
- Resolve existing crashes, overheating, fan failures and storage errors.
- Keep backups before changing drives, memory, firmware or the operating system.
- Ignore any table that labels guessed GTA 6 figures as official.
- After Rockstar publishes PC specifications, compare minimum and recommended rows component by component, including target resolution, frame rate, ray tracing, VRAM and SSD conditions.
For now, the only confirmed way to play Grand Theft Auto VI at launch is on the announced PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms. A prepared PC inventory will let you make a fast, evidence-based decision if and when Rockstar publishes a Windows version and its real requirements.
