Rockstar has not published Windows system requirements for Grand Theft Auto VI as of 18 October 2026. Any online list naming a required CPU, GPU, RAM amount, VRAM capacity, storage size, ray-tracing mode or frame-rate target is an estimate, not an official specification. The confirmed launch on 19 November 2026 is for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. You can still prepare intelligently by inventorying your PC, using Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced as a cautious reference point and planning storage without claiming that any particular component is required for GTA 6.
What is officially confirmed about GTA 6 on PC?
There is no official GTA 6 PC requirement table yet. Rockstar Games’ support information says Grand Theft Auto VI can be pre-ordered for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and the product page gives the release date as 19 November 2026 for those platforms. The Take-Two and Rockstar pre-order announcement also lists the same console platforms. None of those official materials provides a Windows edition, minimum specification or recommended specification.

That distinction matters when you search for “GTA 6 PC requirements” or ask “can my PC run GTA 6?” A specification copied between websites does not become official through repetition. Until Rockstar publishes a Windows table, the following details remain unresolved:
- Supported Windows version and build
- Minimum and recommended CPU models
- Graphics-card models and VRAM requirements
- System-memory capacity and channel configuration
- Storage capacity, drive type and interface
- DirectX or other graphics-API requirements
- Ray-tracing options and their hardware targets
- Resolution, quality preset and frame-rate targets
These are not minor omissions. A game can run at 1080p on one configuration and need substantially more graphics memory for 1440p, 4K or ray-traced effects. Without Rockstar’s test conditions, a single “GTA 6 minimum” number would be misleading.

Why GTA V Enhanced is the only useful official reference
Rockstar’s current PC specification page for Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced supplies a real, published baseline. It describes GTA V Enhanced, not GTA VI, and should be treated as context rather than a prediction. The published figures are:

Rockstar lists the storage figure as “105GB SSD — Rockstar Games, 2025” and the recommended memory as “16GB dual-channel RAM — Rockstar Games, 2025.” Those qualifications belong to GTA V Enhanced. They do not establish a 105GB GTA 6 installation, an RTX 3060 requirement or any other GTA VI threshold.
What this baseline can and cannot tell you
It shows the class of hardware Rockstar currently supports for a modern PC version of its open-world engine. It also shows that an SSD and 16GB of memory are already normal recommendations for the enhanced edition of the previous game. It cannot reveal how much of GTA VI’s larger world, simulation, streaming system or visual effects will be enabled on PC, nor can it predict the eventual installer size.

What hardware will GTA 6 likely need?
A responsible forecast is directional rather than a fake requirements table. GTA VI launches first on current-generation consoles, and GTA V Enhanced’s recommended specification already targets Windows 11-era processors, 16GB memory, 8GB graphics memory and fast storage. A later PC port will likely be designed around contemporary hardware, but the exact performance target remains unknown.
Processor: modern cores and strong simulation performance
Grand Theft Auto games place substantial work on world simulation, traffic, pedestrians, physics, streaming and background tasks. A future PC version is therefore likely to favor a recent desktop or laptop CPU with strong per-core performance and several modern cores. That is an inference from the game’s generation and the progression from the older GTA V minimum CPU to its newer recommended processors; it is not a Rockstar requirement. An older processor may become the limiting part even when its graphics card appears adequate, particularly in dense cities or at high frame rates.
Graphics card: DirectX 12-era capability, not a named model yet
Expect a contemporary graphics stack and a card with enough VRAM for high-resolution textures and world streaming. Whether the PC port requires hardware ray tracing, merely supports it, or offers it as an optional quality setting is unknown. Raster performance, ray-tracing performance and VRAM capacity are separate considerations: a card can be fast in conventional rendering yet struggle when ray tracing is enabled or when a large texture set exceeds its memory.

Memory: 16GB is a sensible floor for planning, not an announcement
GTA V Enhanced recommends 16GB of dual-channel RAM, so 16GB is a reasonable preparation baseline for a current gaming PC. It is not proof that GTA VI will start there. A higher capacity could be useful for the game alongside a browser, recording software or other background applications, but Rockstar has not stated a GTA 6 RAM requirement. Avoid buying a particular kit solely because a rumor assigns it to GTA VI.
Storage: SSD is the practical expectation
Rockstar already requires an SSD for GTA V Enhanced and recommends a DirectStorage-compatible drive. A modern GTA VI installation will likely benefit from fast solid-state storage for asset streaming, but neither capacity nor interface has been announced. Do not treat 105GB as a GTA VI figure. It is the published GTA V Enhanced requirement only.
Resolution and frame rate change the answer
“Will GTA 6 run on an RTX 3060?” cannot be answered honestly until Rockstar identifies its preset, resolution and frame-rate targets. A requirement table may distinguish 1080p at 30 frames per second from 1440p at 60, or list separate raster and ray-tracing recommendations. When those figures arrive, compare your hardware against the matching target rather than against one universal label such as “recommended.”

How to check your current PC before requirements arrive
Rockstar’s compatibility guidance recommends Microsoft’s DxDiag utility. Run it now and keep the report so you can compare the same fields with the eventual GTA VI table.
- Press Windows key + R, type
dxdiag, and press Enter. Allow the diagnostic tool to finish collecting information. - On the System tab, record the Windows edition and build, processor model and installed memory.
- Select the Display tab. Record the GPU name, manufacturer, chip type and approximate total video memory.
- Note the graphics-driver version and driver date. These can matter when a new game requires a later driver branch.
- Use “Save All Information” to create a text report. Store it with the drive model and free-space figures from File Explorer, because DxDiag does not replace a full storage inventory.
Also check whether your memory operates in dual-channel mode, how much free space remains on the intended game drive and whether that drive is an SSD. Those details will let you evaluate Rockstar’s eventual table without relying on a retailer’s simplified “gaming PC” label.
Which upgrades make sense now?
Do not buy a GPU, CPU or RAM kit advertised as “required for GTA 6” while no official numbers exist. The safest preparation is an upgrade that improves general PC use and leaves room for a large future library.

A 2TB NVMe SSD is a defensible preparation upgrade
Because GTA V Enhanced already requires 105GB on an SSD and recommends DirectStorage-compatible storage, a 2TB NVMe SSD is a sensible capacity and speed upgrade for a modern gaming PC. It provides room for the operating system, current games, updates and future installations. It is preparation for storage pressure, not evidence that GTA VI will require 2TB or NVMe specifically.
Upgrade according to the eventual bottleneck

This framework prevents a common mistake: replacing a component before knowing which target it must meet.
What the console launch means for PC players
The confirmed launch platform list is PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar’s physical console edition contains a download code rather than a disc, with pre-loading scheduled to begin on 12 November 2026. That edition is useful context for deciding whether to play at launch, but it does not substitute for Windows hardware guidance. Console hardware is a fixed target; a PC release must support many combinations of processors, graphics cards, memory configurations and storage devices.

Buying around an unverified requirement list risks paying for the wrong bottleneck.
How to read the eventual GTA 6 requirement table
When Rockstar publishes Windows specifications, check the conditions attached to every number. A useful table should identify the Windows version, CPU and GPU models, VRAM, system RAM, storage type and capacity, DirectX or graphics API, driver expectations and the performance target for each tier. Look for separate rows for minimum, recommended and any 1440p, 4K or ray-tracing modes.
- Match your operating-system edition and build first.
- Compare the exact CPU model, not just its brand or advertised clock speed.
- Compare the GPU model and VRAM against the same rendering mode.
- Confirm that installed RAM meets both capacity and channel requirements.
- Reserve the listed storage plus additional free space for patches and temporary files.
- Update graphics drivers only through the manufacturer’s normal channel and retest after installation.
Until that document exists, any answer to “what GPU will GTA 6 need,” “how much RAM for GTA 6” or “GTA 6 SSD requirement” must be labeled an estimate. The only confirmed Windows figures currently available are for GTA V Enhanced, and they should remain clearly separated from GTA VI in every buying decision.
