As of 18 October 2026, Rockstar has announced Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but it has not announced a PC edition or published PC requirements. That means there is no confirmed minimum or recommended graphics card, processor, memory amount, storage requirement, installation size, benchmark, frame-rate target or hardware checker.
Any RTX, Radeon or other component list presented as a GTA 6 requirement is an estimate. You can plan an upgrade around games and applications you use today, but buying a graphics card specifically for GTA 6 is not evidence-based until Rockstar publishes a PC version and specifications.

Will GTA 6 come to PC?
There is no official PC announcement to rely on. TechRadar reported on 13 October 2026 that GamesBeat had cited four anonymous industry sources claiming a PC release in the first quarter of 2027. The same report cautioned that Rockstar had not announced a PC version. Treat Q1 2027 as unconfirmed reporting, not a release date, preorder window or upgrade deadline.
Take-Two chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick offered a broad platform-strategy comment at the company’s September 2026 annual meeting: “The strategy of the company is over time, generally speaking, to launch for any platforms for which there’s a meaningful audience. But that isn’t always the case, and certainly if platforms were no longer viable, we would change that strategy. And I would note that the PC platform is becoming more and more important to our company over time.”
That statement describes the company’s general approach. It does not confirm GTA 6 for PC, specify timing, or imply any particular GPU, CPU or memory threshold.
Why a GTA 6 GPU list would be guesswork today
PC requirements are produced for a specific build, graphics API, feature set and performance target. Until Rockstar identifies those details, there is no reliable way to convert the console announcement into a PC graphics-card recommendation.
- No PC build has been specified. A console release and a future PC release can use different settings, pipelines and performance targets.
- No resolution or frame-rate target has been published. A card suitable for 1080p at one frame rate is not automatically suitable for 1440p or 4K, and a requirement depends on the target.
- No ray-tracing or upscaling policy is known. Whether a feature is required, optional or absent changes the hardware needed for a given image quality.
- Memory and storage figures are unavailable. System RAM, graphics memory, installation size and streaming-speed guidance cannot be inferred responsibly from a title or trailer.
- No benchmark or checker exists. Without an official test scene or tool, claims that a particular card “runs GTA 6” have no standardized meaning.
Lists circulating online that name a minimum GPU, recommended GPU, processor, RAM amount, storage capacity or expected frame rate should therefore be labeled as predictions. They are not Rockstar specifications.
Should you upgrade your graphics card now?
Base the decision on software you can run and measure today, not on an unannounced requirement. A sensible upgrade plan has four parts.
1. Record your current system
Write down the exact graphics-card model, processor model, installed system memory, power-supply capacity, case clearance and monitor resolution. Include the games or creative applications that matter to you and the settings you actually use. Two PCs with similarly named cards can behave differently if one has less graphics memory, a slower processor or inadequate cooling.
2. Set a real performance target
Define whether you want 1080p, 1440p or 4K, and whether your goal is a stable 60 frames per second, a higher refresh rate or simply acceptable image quality. Use current games with similar demands to decide whether your present card is limiting resolution, frame rate, texture quality or ray-tracing settings. Upgrade for that measurable problem.

- Axial-tech fans now feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal heat transfer, lowering GPU temperatures for enhanced performance and reliability
- 2.5-slot design allows for greater build compatibility while maintaining cooling performance
- Dual-ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as standard conventional sleeve bearings designs
- 0dB technology lets you enjoy light gaming in relative silence
3. Check the whole platform, not only the GPU
A faster graphics card may expose a processor limit in a dense open world, while a strong processor cannot compensate for insufficient graphics memory at a high resolution. Confirm that your power supply has the required connectors and capacity, that the card fits the case, and that your cooling solution can sustain the load. Also check whether your system has enough free storage for the games you play now; an eventual GTA 6 size is not published.
4. Keep a GTA 6 decision separate
When Rockstar eventually publishes PC requirements, compare them with your system and your chosen resolution and frame rate. Until then, avoid paying a premium for a component solely because a seller or article labels it “GTA 6 ready.” That phrase has no official definition.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesHow to evaluate the eventual official requirements
When a PC announcement arrives, read the complete specification page rather than focusing on one model number. The useful comparison is not simply minimum versus recommended; it is the combination of hardware, visual settings and performance target.
| Comparison point | What to look for | Why it affects your choice |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum and recommended tiers | The exact component models and the settings or frame rate attached to each tier | A “recommended” label without a target does not tell you how the game is expected to look or perform. |
| Rasterized performance | GPU performance without ray-traced effects | This establishes the baseline for ordinary lighting and shading workloads. |
| Ray tracing | Whether ray tracing is optional or required, and which tier supports it | Ray-traced effects can materially change GPU demand. |
| Resolution and frame rate | 1080p, 1440p or 4K targets and the stated frame-rate goal | Higher resolution and higher frame rate require more rendering headroom. |
| Graphics memory | The stated VRAM amount and texture-setting assumptions | Texture quality and resolution can be constrained by available VRAM even when raw GPU speed is adequate. |
| Upscaling | Supported technologies and whether they are optional or expected | Rendered resolution and output resolution may differ when an upscaler is used. |
| CPU and world simulation | Processor model, core or thread guidance and any separate high-end tier | Open-world traffic, crowds and physics can make the processor a limiting factor. |
| System RAM | Minimum and recommended memory, plus background-app assumptions | Insufficient RAM can cause stutter or force other applications to close. |
| Storage | Required capacity, free-space requirement and any SSD or streaming guidance | The installation may need more temporary space than the final installed size. |
| Power and physical fit | Recommended power supply, connectors and card dimensions | A compatible GPU must also fit and be safely powered by the system. |
None of these GTA 6 thresholds is official at present. They are the categories to check once Rockstar publishes a PC specification, not current requirements.
What a trustworthy announcement should contain
A useful PC announcement should identify the platform, release timing and supported operating-system version, then provide component models for minimum and recommended configurations. Ideally, it will tie those configurations to resolution, graphical preset, ray-tracing state, upscaling mode and target frame rate. It should also state system RAM, graphics memory, storage capacity, whether an SSD is required, and any launcher or account prerequisites.
Look for the information on Rockstar’s own game or support pages and in a formal publisher announcement. A retailer description, social-media graphic or anonymous report can be a lead, but it is not a substitute for the developer’s specification.
Common mistakes when searching for GTA 6 requirements
Confusing a console date with a PC date
The announced 19 November 2026 date applies to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It does not set a PC launch date. The reported Q1 2027 window remains unconfirmed.
Treating a shopping example as a requirement
Hardware articles may mention cards such as the GIGABYTE Radeon RX 9070 XT Gaming OC 16G, ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 3050 6GB or ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 5080 16GB as products to consider for general use. Those are shopping examples, not GTA 6 minimum or recommended hardware. Buying one does not establish compatibility with an unannounced PC build.
Assuming a new card solves every limitation
Frame-time problems can come from the processor, memory, storage or software configuration. Check which component is saturated during the games you play before replacing anything.

Trusting a single “can it run?” label
Such labels often omit resolution, settings, frame-rate target and whether upscaling is enabled. Without those conditions, the label cannot answer whether your experience will be smooth or visually acceptable.

A practical checklist for the eventual PC release
- Confirm that Rockstar has announced a PC edition and a release date.
- Download requirements from Rockstar’s official game or support pages.
- Record your own GPU, CPU, RAM, storage and operating-system details.
- Match your hardware against the requirement tier for your intended resolution and frame rate.
- Check VRAM, power-supply connectors, case clearance and free storage, not only the model name.
- Review any official benchmark, graphics presets and upscaling guidance.
- If your system falls short, identify the limiting component and upgrade for the stated target rather than buying the most expensive card by default.
Bottom line on GTA 6 PC hardware
As of 18 October 2026, no graphics card can honestly be called the GTA 6 minimum or recommended GPU. Rockstar has announced the console game for 19 November 2026, but not a PC edition or PC specifications. The Q1 2027 PC report is unconfirmed, and Take-Two’s comments about the importance of PC are strategic context rather than a GTA 6 announcement.
Use your current games, applications, monitor and measurable performance goals to guide an upgrade now. Reassess when Rockstar publishes the PC version, requirements and testing details.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can my PC run GTA 6 right now?
There is no official PC build or hardware checker to test. Until Rockstar publishes requirements, any compatibility answer is an estimate rather than a verified result.
What graphics card is the minimum for GTA 6?
Rockstar has not stated a minimum GPU. Model lists online should be treated as predictions or shopping examples, not requirements.
Is GTA 6 launching on PC in Q1 2027?
A 13 October 2026 report cited anonymous sources for a first-quarter 2027 PC release, but Rockstar has not confirmed that window.
Does the 19 November 2026 release date apply to PC?
No. Rockstar has announced that date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The physical console download-code edition has a 12 November preload date.
Should I buy a new GPU before the requirements are announced?
Upgrade for current games or applications and a defined resolution and frame-rate target. A purchase made solely for GTA 6 cannot be justified by official evidence yet.
