Short answer: Rockstar has not announced a PC edition of Grand Theft Auto VI or published PC system requirements. No CPU, graphics card, RAM amount, SSD capacity, Windows version or performance target can honestly be called “required” for GTA 6 today. The currently announced launch platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
You can prepare intelligently by documenting your current hardware, keeping Windows and drivers maintained, and reserving an upgrade budget. Do not buy a component because a retailer, video or forum calls it “GTA 6-ready”; there is no official PC specification against which that claim can be checked.

What Rockstar has actually announced
Rockstar’s public GTA VI information confirms a console release, not a PC release. The announced platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a listed release date of November 19, 2026. That date belongs to the announced console version. It is not a confirmed PC launch date, and it should not be used to infer when a Windows edition will arrive.
Rockstar’s support information describes both digital and physical console versions. The physical package contains a code for a digital download; Rockstar states that a disc is not included in the box. This detail confirms the distribution format for the announced consoles, but it says nothing about PC hardware requirements.

As of October 18, 2026, Rockstar has not published a PC CPU, GPU, VRAM, system-memory, storage, operating-system, DirectX or other graphics-API requirement for GTA VI. It has also not supplied a PC installation-size figure, resolution target, frame-rate target, ray-tracing requirement or upscaling recommendation. A current analysis dated October 16, 2026, likewise states that Rockstar has published no GTA 6 PC system requirements and that no minimum or recommended PC build can be presented as confirmed until a PC version and specifications are announced.
Why the internet is full of “GTA 6 requirements” tables
Unofficial tables usually combine guesses about the game’s visual ambition with hardware from another title, a retailer’s search keywords or a fabricated “minimum/recommended” format. They can look precise because they list familiar fields—Core i5, Ryzen 5, RTX graphics, 16 GB of RAM and a large SSD—but precision is not evidence. Without a Rockstar-published performance target, there is no way to know whether a listed part is intended for 1080p at 30 frames per second, 1440p at 60, a ray-traced mode or something else.
Do not treat a leaked-looking screenshot, a YouTube description, a benchmark thumbnail or a component seller’s compatibility badge as an official specification. A genuine requirement sheet should identify the PC edition, minimum and recommended rows, operating-system build, storage conditions and the performance assumption behind each row. None of those GTA VI PC details has been released.

GTA V Enhanced requirements: useful context, not a GTA 6 forecast
The closest official reference is Rockstar’s requirements page for Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced. Those specifications describe GTA V Enhanced on Windows. They are historical context for how Rockstar presented a PC requirement sheet, not a prediction or certification for GTA VI.
| GTA V Enhanced tier | Operating system | CPU | Memory | GPU and VRAM | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | Windows 10, build 1909 or above | Intel Core i7-4770 or AMD FX-9590 | 8 GB RAM | NVIDIA GTX 1630 4 GB or AMD RX 6400 4 GB | 105 GB SSD |
| Recommended | Windows 11 | Intel Core i5-9600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 | 16 GB dual-channel RAM | NVIDIA RTX 3060 8 GB or AMD RX 6600 XT 8 GB | 105 GB DirectStorage-compatible drive |
These rows illustrate an important distinction: a minimum specification is tied to a particular game edition and its expected settings, not to a publisher’s entire series. GTA V Enhanced’s 105 GB SSD figure cannot be converted into a GTA VI estimate by adding a percentage. Its CPUs and graphics cards cannot be called GTA VI-compatible on that basis either.
Rockstar also notes on the GTA V Enhanced page that downloadable content and programming changes can alter requirements over time. That warning is another reason not to treat an older requirement list as a permanent hardware guarantee.

Should you upgrade your PC now?
Upgrade only for a need you can verify today—such as an existing game that runs poorly, insufficient storage for your current library, or a workflow that benefits from more memory. A purchase made solely on the promise that it will be “GTA 6-ready” has no official compatibility basis.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWhen an upgrade can make sense
- Replace a failing drive or add capacity if your present storage is routinely full.
- Add memory when your current workload regularly exhausts installed RAM and causes paging.
- Upgrade a graphics card for games whose published requirements and tested settings you can evaluate now.
- Replace a processor when your current games or applications are demonstrably CPU-limited.
- Upgrade the power supply, cooling or case airflow when a current, documented hardware change requires it.
When to wait
- Do not choose a particular GPU tier because an unofficial article labels it the minimum.
- Do not buy a high-capacity SSD based on a circulating GTA VI install-size number.
- Do not replace Windows 10 with Windows 11 solely because someone claims GTA VI will require it.
- Do not assume that a PC running GTA V, GTA V Enhanced or another demanding game will run GTA VI at the same settings.
A practical preparation checklist
You can make a useful baseline without guessing the eventual game specification. Record the following information in a note or spreadsheet.
- Identify the processor: write down the exact CPU model, not just “Core i7” or “Ryzen 5.” The generation and model suffix matter.
- Identify the graphics card: record the exact GPU model and its dedicated VRAM. Integrated graphics should be marked as such.
- Record installed memory: note total RAM, number of populated slots and, if available, whether it is operating in dual-channel mode.
- Record Windows details: include the edition, version and build number. This lets you check any future requirement against the system you actually use.
- Measure free storage: list each drive, its type (SSD or hard drive), total capacity and available space. Keep the drive where a future installation would go in mind.
- Check supporting hardware: note the power-supply wattage, display resolution and refresh rate, and whether your case has room and cooling for a larger card.
Keep Windows and your graphics drivers current for general PC gaming and security. Maintenance improves reliability, but it does not establish that your computer will meet an unpublished GTA VI specification.

What to check when Rockstar announces a PC version
When Rockstar publishes PC information, read the complete official table rather than copying a single component name. Use this order to evaluate it:
- Confirm the edition and date: make sure the page refers to GTA VI for Windows and note whether the requirements are launch requirements or have been updated.
- Separate minimum from recommended: these rows normally represent different visual settings or performance expectations. Neither row is meaningful without its stated target.
- Match the CPU: compare the exact model and generation, then check whether your processor has the required instruction-set and core characteristics stated by Rockstar.
- Match the GPU and VRAM: compare the named model, dedicated memory and any ray-tracing requirement. A similar product name does not guarantee equivalent performance.
- Check system RAM: verify both capacity and configuration if the table specifies dual-channel memory.
- Check Windows and graphics API: confirm the required edition/build and whether DirectX or another API is required.
- Check storage correctly: distinguish required free space from drive capacity, and note whether an SSD, DirectStorage-compatible drive or another feature is specified.
- Read the target: record the resolution, frame rate, quality preset, ray-tracing mode and upscaling technology associated with each row.
- Compare your complete system: a computer is not “above minimum” if its GPU passes but its CPU, RAM, operating system, storage or power delivery fails another requirement.
Only after this comparison should you decide whether an upgrade is necessary. If your system falls short in one area, address that bottleneck first rather than replacing every component pre-emptively.

Can a PC that runs GTA V run GTA 6?
There is no official yes-or-no answer. “Runs GTA V” covers too many different situations: the original PC release, GTA V Enhanced, low settings at 30 frames per second, or a high-refresh-rate configuration. GTA V Enhanced’s published requirements provide a reference point for that edition only. They do not establish GTA VI compatibility or performance.

Once GTA VI PC requirements exist, compare the exact GTA V machine against the new minimum and recommended rows. Check the processor, graphics card and VRAM, RAM, Windows build, storage type and free space separately. A system may launch a game while still missing the hardware needed for the quality or frame rate you want.
What if you must play at launch?
The currently confirmed route is a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S. If playing on November 19, 2026 is essential, those are the announced platforms. Building or upgrading a Windows PC cannot guarantee access on that date because Rockstar has not announced a PC edition or PC release schedule.
If you prefer PC, wait for Rockstar’s platform announcement and specification page before committing to a GTA VI-specific build. Prices, component generations and available models can all change before a PC version is revealed, so buying early can leave you with an expensive part that does not match the eventual target.

- Look for a named source: an official Rockstar page is different from an article repeating an unnamed leak.
- Look for performance context: “recommended” has no useful meaning without resolution, frame rate and quality settings.
- Check the date and version: requirements may be revised after patches, downloadable content or driver changes.
- Check every row: CPU, GPU, VRAM, RAM, operating system, storage and API all matter together.
- Reject false precision: an exact install-size number or component list published before Rockstar’s specification is still an estimate, regardless of how confidently it is written.
For now, the accurate answer is deliberately narrower than the viral tables: GTA VI has confirmed console platforms and a November 19, 2026 console date, but no official PC requirements or PC date. Prepare by measuring the system you own and maintaining it, then make a GTA VI upgrade decision only from Rockstar’s eventual, performance-qualified PC specifications.
