What performance information is confirmed?
Rockstar’s official GTA VI page lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a release date of November 19, 2026. The official Xbox listing gives the same date and platform family. These listings confirm availability plans, not resolution, frame rate, or graphics modes.
As of October 8, 2026, the official pages reviewed do not provide final console performance specifications. They do not establish a launch frame-rate cap, a 60fps mode, resolution targets, or separate settings for Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS5, or PS5 Pro.
Is GTA 6 targeting 30fps on PS5 and Xbox?
A 30fps figure has been reported, but its source and timing matter. In an August 28, 2026 report, TechRadar attributed the statement to content creator Davy Jones, who had visited Rockstar North. Jones reportedly said Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson described the consoles as running the game at 30fps during development.

That is a reported development-period observation, not a published Rockstar launch specification. TechRadar also relayed reporting that the technical team still had to determine whether a 60fps option would be available at launch or later. The available account does not settle whether the final game will have a 60fps mode.
What the 30fps report does—and does not—tell you
- It does: provide a reported snapshot of console performance during development.
- It does not: confirm that the retail game will be locked to 30fps, or that PS5 and Xbox will have identical frame rates or modes.
- It does not establish: a specific resolution, graphics preset, or performance difference between Series S and Series X.
Can footage confirm the frame rate?
Not conclusively. GamesRadar’s account of Digital Foundry’s analysis says the official Extended Look footage appeared relatively stable and well-paced at 30fps, with occasional single-frame drops. It also notes that the uploaded video did not allow a full frame-rate analysis.

That is an interpretation of compressed video, not a benchmark of a playable or retail build. It cannot establish how the game performs on a particular console at launch.
What is known about PS5 features?
In a June 24, 2026 PlayStation.Blog post, Mary Yee, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s senior vice president of marketing, described PS5 features planned for the game: DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, sound through the controller’s integrated speaker, Tempest 3D AudioTech, and the PS5 SSD.

PlayStation says the game “will play best on PS5,” citing those immersive features. That is the platform holder’s positioning; the post does not give comparative frame-rate or resolution results, nor does it specify a technical advantage over Xbox.

Because the official sources do not publish final performance settings, neither “PS5 is faster” nor “Xbox runs at the same frame rate” is established. The reported 30fps remark concerns consoles during development and does not provide a platform-by-platform breakdown.

Rockstar’s current game page lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, but not PC. The sources reviewed establish no PC release date, system requirements, or optimization plan.
