Is there a GTA 6 PC release date?

Why does the delay feel so frustrating?
For players whose main gaming machine is a PC, the announced launch leaves a practical choice: wait without a confirmed date or buy a supported console to play at launch. Some people in public discussions say they would rather wait than purchase a console for one game; others weigh that purchase against the PC they already own. Those comments show the kind of frustration behind the “heartbroken” reaction, but they are anecdotes, not a measure of how PC players overall feel. The “39%” in one Reddit post headline comes from a community poll, not a verified representative survey.
Relevant examples of those conversations appear in discussions on how long players expect to wait for a PC version and whether they would wait rather than buy a console.

What Take-Two has said about PC
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has spoken about the company’s broader platform strategy, telling PC Gamer in September 2026: “The strategy of the company is over time, generally speaking, to launch for any platforms for which there’s a meaningful audience. But that isn’t always the case, and certainly if platforms were no longer viable, we would change that strategy. And I would note that the PC platform is becoming more and more important to our company over time.”
That is strategic context, not a GTA VI PC announcement, a promise of a port, or a release estimate. PC Gamer’s report of his comments does not supply a game-specific date.

Can past Rockstar PC release gaps predict GTA 6?
Past releases offer context, but not a reliable timetable for this one. PC Gamer’s 2026 comparison says the console-to-PC gaps across the last three major Rockstar releases it considered ranged from seven months for Grand Theft Auto IV to 19 months for Grand Theft Auto V. It notes that the original plan for GTA V was about 14 months before delays, and that the PC release of Red Dead Redemption 2 was confirmed about a year after its console launch.
Based on those examples, PC Gamer’s suggestion that a GTA VI PC version is “likely” not to arrive before November 2027 is the publication’s estimate—not Rockstar’s. What can you buy and play at launch?
Rockstar currently lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as the launch platforms. Its support page describes digital and physical versions, but “physical” does not mean a disc: the boxed edition is a download code, with no disc in the box. Rockstar says retail shipping and pickup are expected to begin November 12, 2026, to support preload. Digital preload is scheduled to begin at local midnight on November 12.
If you choose a boxed copy, check that its code region matches your platform account’s region. Regional conditions vary, and Rockstar states a specific expiry rule for Japan codes; that rule should not be assumed to apply everywhere. Check Rockstar’s current platform, edition, and version details for the applicable terms.

There is no universally right choice while a PC date is unannounced. Consider these factors before spending money:
- Do you already own a listed platform? If you have a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, Rockstar’s announced November 19 launch is available to you there.
- Would you buy a console for other games? If not, the cost and hassle of buying one solely for GTA VI may make waiting a better fit.
- How important is playing at launch? A console is the only currently announced route to the November 2026 release; waiting for PC means accepting an unknown date.
- Are you comfortable with uncertainty? Historical port timing can inform expectations, but it cannot guarantee whether or when a PC version will arrive.
There is a physical PS5 Standard Edition listed for retail, as well as an Xbox Series X|S edition, but Rockstar’s boxed PS5 version is a download code rather than a disc. Retail stock, pricing, and availability can change; confirm the details with the seller before ordering.
