GamingBible reported that a $100 PlayStation gift card cost $79.99 at Costco, while the PS5 Ultimate Edition was listed at $99.99. That leaves a $20 difference against the stated game price, but the deal depends on the card offer being available and eligible for the purchase.
How the reported 20% saving is calculated
In a report published October 6, 2026, GamingBible’s Kate Harrold described a US Costco offer for a $100 PlayStation gift card priced at $79.99 and compared it with a reported $99.99 price for the PS5 Ultimate Edition. The calculation is straightforward:
- Reported card price: $79.99 for $100 in PlayStation Store credit.
- Reported PS5 Ultimate Edition price: $99.99.
- Difference: $20, or about 20% of the stated $99.99 game price.
This is a comparison of the effective cost of credit with the stated game price. It does not mean the game is marked down by 20% at checkout, nor does it establish that the $100 card alone covers the entire purchase. Check the live game price, applicable tax, card terms, and remaining balance required before ordering.
Where and when the deal was reported
GamingBible said the Costco promotion was expected to run through October 11, 2026, unless it sold out earlier. That was the expected end date reported in the October 6 article, not confirmation that the offer is still available. Costco stock, current pricing, and terms are not established here, so verify them directly before buying.

- This product contains a download code inside the box — no disc is included. Customer shipments will begin arriving November 12 for pre-load; game is playable starting November 19. Code can only be used by users holding an account for PlayStation registered to the US or Canada.
- Pre-order to receive the Vintage Vice City Pack.
- Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience.
The same article gave UK examples: a reported 10% discount on a £100 PlayStation Store gift card at Loaded and 7% off a £90 Xbox gift card. These are separate examples in a different market; they do not establish general availability across UK retailers or the same savings for every platform.
What to check before buying gift-card credit
A discounted card only helps if it can be redeemed for the platform, region, and transaction you intend to use. Before purchasing, check:

- Platform: PlayStation credit is for PlayStation purchases; do not assume it can pay for an Xbox preorder.
- Country and account region: Confirm that the card works with the region of your platform account.
- Offer terms and stock: Check the seller’s current price, expiration, redemption rules, and availability.
- Full purchase cost: Compare the current edition price and any applicable tax with the credit you will have available.
- Edition: Make sure the card can be used for the specific edition and preorder listing you want.
What the report says is included in the Ultimate Edition
GamingBible described the Ultimate Edition as including the base game plus cosmetics, vehicles, and stores. Named examples in its article include the ’95 Grotti Cheetah, Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers, Vice City Style Cosmetics, Jason’s Safehouse Vehicles, Shitzu Squalo, and a Classic Car Collection. These are details reported by GamingBible, rather than independently verified product terms; check current official listing details before choosing an edition.
The article also said Standard Edition buyers would be able to upgrade after launch for a fee, but that the fee had not been confirmed. Do not treat the “free upgrade” framing associated with the effective-savings comparison as a free upgrade provided by Rockstar.

PlayStation and Xbox savings are not interchangeable
The $79.99 gift-card calculation is specifically a US PlayStation-credit example paired with a stated PS5 Ultimate Edition price. GamingBible also mentioned an Xbox gift-card discount in the UK, but it did not provide the same Xbox preorder price or enough information to calculate equivalent savings. Do not transfer the PS5 arithmetic to an Xbox Series X/S purchase.

GamingBible reported a November 19, 2026 launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and said preorder customers could preload on November 12.
