To avoid being charged for the GTA+ month included with a GTA 6 pre-order, turn off GTA+ auto-renewal in the storefront where that membership was purchased or redeemed. Cancelling GTA+ does not cancel your Grand Theft Auto VI order. If you want to cancel or refund the game as well, use the separate support route for the platform, retailer, Rockstar Store, or Xsolla that handled the game purchase.
First decide which action you need: stop the recurring GTA+ subscription, cancel the GTA VI pre-order, or do both. They are separate transactions with separate cancellation systems.

What the free GTA+ month actually does
Rockstar’s promotion gives qualifying digital Standard or Ultimate Edition purchases of Grand Theft Auto VI made before November 20, 2026 one month of GTA+ at no extra charge. The free period is not a permanently free subscription: after that month, GTA+ renews every month at the regular price until you cancel auto-renewal. - It applies to eligible digital Standard or Ultimate Edition pre-orders purchased before November 20, 2026.
- On PlayStation, the included month must be redeemed by March 31, 2027.
- On Microsoft Store, redemption is required within 180 days of the game purchase.

Those dates govern eligibility for the promotional month; they do not create a universal refund deadline for the game. Refund rights and deadlines depend on the platform, seller, region, and purchase type.

GTA+ cancellation and GTA 6 cancellation are different
Stopping the subscription prevents the next GTA+ renewal. It leaves the game order alone. Cancelling or refunding the GTA VI pre-order affects the game transaction and does not automatically switch off GTA+.

How to stop the GTA+ renewal
Use the account that received the promotional month. The relevant account is the one attached to the GTA+ subscription, which may not be the same account you use for another platform or for a different Rockstar login.
- Identify the original storefront. Check the purchase receipt, subscription email, or the account’s active-services page. The possible management routes listed by Rockstar are PlayStation, Microsoft, Rockstar Games/Epic Games, and Steam.
- Sign in to that storefront account. Do not manage the subscription from a different console profile or a second Rockstar account.
- Open the account’s subscriptions or services area. Select GTA+ and look for the control labelled Cancel, Turn off auto-renew, or an equivalent option. Store labels and menus can change, so follow the current route linked from Rockstar’s cancellation article.
- Confirm the cancellation. Continue through the final confirmation screen. Closing the page or removing a payment method is not the same as cancelling auto-renewal.
- Record the termination date and confirmation. Save the confirmation email or take a screenshot showing that renewal is off and note the next billing date displayed by the storefront.
- Check the subscription again later. Return to the same account’s subscription page and verify that it says the membership will end rather than renew. If the status still shows an upcoming renewal, repeat the process or contact that storefront’s support team.
PlayStation
Manage the membership from the PlayStation account that redeemed or purchased GTA+. Use the PlayStation subscription-management route linked in Rockstar’s How to cancel GTA+ instructions. Confirm that auto-renewal is disabled and retain the displayed end date.
Microsoft Store
Use the Microsoft account that redeemed the promotional month. Open its recurring-services or subscription settings, select GTA+, and confirm cancellation. The 180-day redemption rule for the free month is separate from the renewal setting; turning off renewal does not undo the original redemption.
Rockstar Games or Epic Games
If the membership was obtained through Rockstar Games or Epic Games, use the subscription controls for the account that made that purchase. Rockstar’s support article provides the current management link for this route. A Rockstar Social Club login used for gameplay may not be the billing account, so verify the account shown in the receipt before changing anything.
Steam
For a GTA+ membership purchased through Steam, manage it from the Steam account’s subscriptions or recurring-payment settings. Select GTA+, complete the cancellation confirmation, and verify the next charge is no longer scheduled. If GTA+ is not listed, check other Steam accounts before contacting support.

Cancellation normally stops the next renewal rather than ending access immediately. Rockstar says that after cancellation, “your GTA+ Membership and access to its related benefits will remain active until the subscription terminates in accordance with the applicable store’s cancellation terms.” The exact cutoff is therefore the date shown by your storefront, not a universal number of hours or days.
Use the remaining active period to claim any benefits you want. Rockstar distinguishes between benefits already claimed and benefits still waiting to be claimed:
- Claimed properties, vehicles, cosmetic items, bonuses, and deals are retained after the membership ends.
- Ongoing benefits and rewards that you have not claimed before termination are lost.

Digital PlayStation or Xbox purchase
Send purchase, delivery, and refund questions to the platform that took payment. Use that platform’s order history or support form, select the GTA VI pre-order, and request cancellation or a refund. The platform decides whether the request qualifies under its current policy and your region; Rockstar does not set one refund rule for every storefront.
Physical purchase from a retailer
Contact the retailer that accepted the pre-order. Physical-order cancellation is handled by the seller, not by GTA+ support. Provide the order number, account email, and the exact edition so the retailer can locate the transaction.
Physical Rockstar Store purchase

Why cancelling the game may not undo GTA+
The free month is a subscription redemption attached to an account, while the game pre-order is a separate order. Cancelling the order does not reliably cancel the subscription, so turn off GTA+ auto-renewal in its original storefront even if the game refund is approved.

Common mistakes and how to fix them
Removing the payment card instead of cancelling
A deleted card, expired card, or blocked payment can create a failed renewal, but it is not a confirmed cancellation. Turn off auto-renewal through the subscription controls and save the confirmation.
Using the wrong account
GTA+ may be attached to a platform account different from the one currently signed in. Compare the receipt’s account identifier with the account shown in subscription settings. Check each platform account you own before opening a support case.
Expecting access to end immediately
Access can continue until the storefront’s termination date. That continued access is not evidence that cancellation failed; check whether the status says it will end rather than renew.
Assuming every benefit survives
Claimed items remain, but unclaimed ongoing benefits and rewards disappear when the membership terminates. Claim eligible items during the active period if you want them.
Expecting a second free month after a refund
Rockstar says a player who refunds GTA VI and pre-orders it again will not receive another free GTA+ month. A refund and a repeat pre-order therefore cannot be used to reset the promotion.

Subscription support cannot decide a retailer’s refund. Digital purchase issues go to the platform; physical issues go to the retailer; Rockstar Store physical orders use the Xsolla route.
Offer details that affect timing
The promotion is tied to digital Standard and Ultimate Edition purchases made before November 20, 2026. The physical Standard Edition is a retailer product for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S; Rockstar describes the box as containing a download code rather than a disc. Physical-order cancellation therefore follows the retailer or Xsolla path, not the digital subscription path. Edition, platform, geography, and account eligibility should be checked against the seller’s listing and Rockstar’s current terms.
Redemption windows are not cancellation windows. PlayStation requires redemption by March 31, 2027, while Microsoft Store requires redemption within 180 days after purchase. If you have not redeemed the month, the relevant store may show different status information from a membership that is already active. Once redeemed, the recurring-subscription controls belong to the storefront where that redemption was processed.

The offer gives you one month at no extra charge, but Rockstar does not publish one universal renewal hour or cutoff for every country and storefront. Your account’s subscription page is the practical authority for the next billing date and the date access ends. Cancel before the displayed renewal date, then confirm that the status has changed from renewing to ending.
If a charge appears after you cancelled, gather the cancellation confirmation, the transaction receipt, the account email, and the time and date shown on both records. Contact the storefront that billed you first, because it controls the subscription and payment. Explain that auto-renewal was cancelled and ask what review or refund process applies. Do not assume Rockstar can reverse a platform charge, and do not assume a failed payment attempt proves the membership was cancelled.
A cancellation confirmation is more useful than simply deleting a card. Keep screenshots until the subscription has terminated and the final billing history is clear. If you use more than one platform, save which account and storefront handled the promotional redemption so you do not accidentally cancel an unrelated subscription.
When accounts, consoles and stores do not match
Moving between consoles can make this offer confusing. A game may be associated with one Rockstar login while the recurring payment is controlled by a PlayStation, Microsoft, Epic, Steam, or Rockstar Games account. The account that owns the game is not automatically the account that can turn off billing. Follow the receipt and subscription record, not the console currently connected to your television.
The one-redemption limit is also tied to a platform account. Redeeming on one account and later signing into another does not create a second free month. If GTA+ is missing from the subscriptions page, check alternate accounts and archived receipts before creating a new subscription or contacting support. Give support the platform, order number, purchase date, edition, and account email so the agent can trace the correct transaction.

Have the original order or redemption email, the storefront account name, the GTA VI edition, the platform, and any cancellation confirmation ready. For a physical order, include the retailer order number and shipping email. For a Rockstar Store order, use the Xsolla process Rockstar specifies rather than submitting the request to a random retailer. Clear records reduce the risk of cancelling the wrong order or discussing the game purchase when the problem is actually GTA+ billing.
