GTA 6 preorders opened on June 25, 2026, and the game launches November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. In the United States, the Standard Edition costs $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition costs $99.99. Both include the Vintage Vice City Pack when ordered or purchased before November 20, 2026. Digital preorders also include one month of GTA+, while the physical product is a download code in a box rather than a disc.
For most players, Standard is the sensible default because it contains the complete game and the same preorder pack. Ultimate is worth the extra $20 only if its listed vehicles, weapons, locations, shops and cosmetic extras matter to you. Choose digital for account convenience and preload; choose the Standard code-in-box version only if you want a physical case and understand that there is no disc inside.

GTA 6 preorder and launch dates
Take-Two Interactive Software announced the current schedule on June 24, 2026. Preorders opened at midnight local time on June 25, 2026. Grand Theft Auto VI launches November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The preorder promotion has a separate cutoff. Take-Two says every preorder and every purchase made before November 20, 2026, includes the Vintage Vice City Pack. That means the pack is still available for a purchase made on launch day and during the following day, subject to the publisher’s stated cutoff.
#1 Best Overall
Digital preload begins at local midnight on November 12, 2026. The physical Standard product is expected to ship or become available for pickup from November 12 so its code can be redeemed in time for preload. Retailer delivery schedules remain the retailer’s responsibility, so a November 12 availability date is not a guarantee that every order will arrive that day.

Standard vs. Ultimate: what each edition costs and includes
| Edition | US list price | Formats | Included content |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | $79.99 | Digital or physical code-in-box | Grand Theft Auto VI and the applicable preorder bonuses, including the Vintage Vice City Pack when bought before November 20, 2026 |

These are United States list prices announced by Take-Two. Taxes, currency conversion, regional pricing and retailer-specific charges can change the amount shown at checkout. Store prices, inventory, sellers and delivery dates are volatile; verify the live PlayStation or Microsoft listing before paying.
Standard Edition
Standard is the baseline purchase. It includes the game and the preorder bonuses, and it is sold either as a digital license or as a physical box containing a download code. The Standard Edition does not include the Ultimate Edition Upgrade automatically.

The physical package is not a traditional disc release. Rockstar Support says, “A disc will not be included in the box.” The code must be redeemed through the platform account that will play the game, then the console downloads the software. A box can therefore satisfy a preference for a tangible package, but it does not provide an installable Blu-ray or a disc that can be inserted into another console.
Ultimate Edition
Ultimate costs $20 more than Standard in the United States. It includes the base game plus the Ultimate Edition Upgrade, which bundles additional vehicles, weapons, locations, shops, clothing and cosmetic content. Rockstar’s listed items are:
- ’95 Grotti Cheetah
- Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers
- Personalized weapon variants
- Vice City Styles
- Jason’s Safehouse Vehicles
- Ganado Retro Build
- Rideout Customs Mod Shop
- Sara’s Unisex Salon
- Shitzu Squalo
- Stock 305 Clothing Store
- ’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy and Garage
- Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor
- One-Eyed Willie’s Mod Shop
- Goodtime Gear
- PTT Youngin$ Compound
- Classic Car Collection
The list describes the entitlements; it does not establish that every item is available immediately at the first minute of the campaign or that any item changes gameplay balance. Buy Ultimate for the specific extras you value, not because the name implies a different core game.
What the preorder bonuses contain
Vintage Vice City Pack
Every Grand Theft Auto VI preorder and every purchase made before November 20, 2026, includes the Vintage Vice City Pack. The pack contains a ’55 Vapid Stanier Sedan and Garage, outfits and hairstyles, and an exclusive weapon pattern.

The cutoff is easy to misread. It is not limited only to orders placed before launch; Take-Two’s wording covers purchases made before November 20. A transaction after that cutoff should not be treated as eligible unless the store explicitly shows the pack as included.
One free month of GTA+ with digital preorders
Digital preorders include one free month of GTA+. On PlayStation, the listing says the subscription continues and auto-renews every month at the regular monthly price until canceled. The offer is limited to one redemption per account and must be redeemed by March 31, 2027. Redemption is tied to the account used for the preorder, so buying on one account and expecting the promotional month to move to another can leave you ineligible.
Treat the month as a trial period, not as a permanently free subscription. If you do not want a paid renewal, cancel the subscription before the promotional month ends through the account’s subscription-management controls. Check the confirmation screen for the next billing date and the regular price shown for your region.

Digital or physical Standard: which format fits?
Choose digital when you want the simplest preload
- The license is attached directly to your PlayStation or Xbox account.
- You can begin the digital preload at local midnight on November 12, 2026, without waiting for a package.
- There is no code card or physical box to store.
- The digital preorder includes the free month of GTA+ described above.
Digital is the lower-friction option for a player who shares a console account, changes storage drives or simply wants the game ready for launch. The trade-off is that the purchase remains an account license rather than a physical item.
Choose the physical Standard code-in-box version when the case matters
- You receive a retail box and a code rather than a disc.
- The code can be redeemed for preload when the product becomes available, expected from November 12.
- You must verify the retailer’s delivery or pickup timing if playing at launch is important.
- Because there is no disc, the package should not be evaluated like a used-disc release or a traditional resale product.
Before ordering, read the product description carefully. A listing that says “physical” can still mean code-in-box, and Rockstar has confirmed that no disc is included.
Can Standard be upgraded to Ultimate?
Yes. After redeeming a physical or digital Standard code, the owner can purchase the Ultimate Edition Upgrade digitally through the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store. The upgrade path is therefore available to Standard buyers who decide later that the additional content is worth the difference.
There is no physical Ultimate Edition. A retailer advertising a boxed Ultimate product should be checked against the platform listing and Rockstar’s support information before you pay a premium. The legitimate upgrade is a digital entitlement added after the Standard game has been redeemed.
How to preorder GTA 6 safely
PlayStation 5 digital preorder
- Open the PlayStation Store on the account that will play the game.
- Search for Grand Theft Auto VI and confirm that the listing is for PlayStation 5.
- Compare the Standard and Ultimate prices shown for your country, then select the edition.
- Review the preorder bonuses, the GTA+ promotional terms and the account displayed for the purchase.
- Complete checkout and keep the order confirmation.
- On or after November 12 at local midnight, check the game library for the preload option.
Xbox Series X|S digital preorder
- Open the Microsoft Store on the Microsoft account that will use the game.
- Search for Grand Theft Auto VI and verify the Xbox Series X|S platform listing.
- Select Standard or Ultimate, check the price and review the included content.
- Complete checkout, then confirm that the title appears in the owned-games library.
- Start the preload when it becomes available on November 12 at local midnight.
Physical Standard preorder
- Choose a retailer that clearly identifies the product as Grand Theft Auto VI Standard Edition for your console.
- Confirm that the description says download code in a box, not disc, and check the expected November 12 availability or delivery date.
- Verify the retailer country against the platform account region, especially for PlayStation.
- Keep the code sealed until you are ready to redeem it; once redeemed, the entitlement is attached to the account used.
- Redeem the code through the platform store and begin the preload when the console offers it.
Region and account rules
PlayStation codes
PlayStation codes are region-associated. Rockstar recommends buying from a retailer in the country that matches the country of the platform account. A code purchased for one country can fail to activate on an account registered in another, even if the console hardware is identical. Check the account country and the retailer’s region before checkout; changing the account later is not a dependable fix for a mismatched code.

Rockstar Support states that Xbox codes are not region-locked. That removes the specific PlayStation-style country restriction, but you should still confirm the store listing, currency and account eligibility shown at purchase. A code that is genuine but intended for a different platform cannot be converted into a PlayStation license.

Assuming the box contains a disc
It does not. The physical Standard package contains a download code. If you need a disc-based installation or a disc you can lend, this product will not meet that requirement.
Buying a PlayStation code from the wrong country
Match the retailer country to the PlayStation account country. Do not rely on the console’s physical location alone; the account region controls code compatibility.
Calling the GTA+ month permanently free
The PlayStation offer auto-renews at the regular monthly price unless canceled. Note the renewal date when redeeming and cancel before that date if you do not want an ongoing subscription.

Trusting stale price or stock claims
The confirmed US list prices are $79.99 for Standard and $99.99 for Ultimate. A retailer can display a different amount because of tax, currency, seller, promotion or inventory status. Check the live page immediately before purchase rather than relying on an old search result or a marketplace headline.
Which edition should you buy?
Standard is the value choice for most players
Standard delivers the complete game and the same Vintage Vice City Pack available to Ultimate buyers who purchase before the cutoff. It is the right choice when the Ultimate list does not contain anything you specifically want. You can still add the Ultimate Edition Upgrade digitally later after redeeming Standard.
Ultimate is for players who want its named extras
Pay the additional $20 when the ’95 Grotti Cheetah, Morgan Revolvers, personalized weapon variants, Vice City Styles, safehouse vehicles, custom shops, clothing, tattoo parlor, compound or classic car collection justify the premium. The decision is about those listed entitlements, not access to a separate launch date or a different base game.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDigital is best for convenience
Choose digital if immediate account delivery, preload and the digital-preorder GTA+ month matter more than owning a box. Choose the code-in-box Standard version if the case has value to you and you accept that it contains no disc and depends on code redemption.
Pre-purchase checklist
- Confirm your console is a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S.
- Check whether you want Standard or the digital-only Ultimate route.
- Compare the live US price or your local store price at checkout; $79.99 and $99.99 are US list prices.
- Verify the Vintage Vice City Pack is shown when purchasing before November 20, 2026.
- If preordering digitally, read the GTA+ auto-renewal terms and note the March 31, 2027 PlayStation redemption deadline.
- If buying PlayStation code-in-box, match the retailer country to the platform account country.
- If buying physical, confirm the listing says download code in a box and does not imply a disc.
- For launch-day play, plan around the November 12 preload window and your retailer’s actual delivery or pickup estimate.
- Keep the order receipt and code details until the game appears in your account and the bonuses are confirmed.
Bottom line for the November 2026 launch
Preorder Standard for $79.99 if you want the game and the Vintage Vice City Pack without paying for extras. Choose Ultimate for $99.99 only when its specific vehicles, weapons, locations, shops and cosmetic items are worth the $20 difference. Digital is the easiest path to preload and includes one month of GTA+ with a digital preorder; the physical Standard product is a code-in-box with no disc. The safest purchase is one made through the correct platform account and, for PlayStation codes, the correct country.
