Rockstar has not announced a GTA 6 review-embargo date or time. As of October 18, 2026, no official schedule says when critics may publish scores, written reviews, videos or livestreams. Grand Theft Auto VI is officially scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026. Any suggestion that reviews will appear roughly one day before launch is a prediction based on Rockstar’s past practice, not a confirmed appointment.
What is confirmed about GTA 6 reviews?
Rockstar’s official Grand Theft Auto VI page lists November 19, 2026 as the game’s launch date. That is the only firm date currently relevant to the review question. Rockstar has not publicly posted a review-score embargo date or a time when critics can publish their verdicts.

Independent tracking has likewise found no available critic reviews, while reporting that expects a pre-launch review window describes it as a possibility rather than an announcement. The distinction matters: a publication may receive advance access under a confidential agreement, but the public cannot treat that access as permission to publish until the publisher’s embargo expires.
There is also no confirmed public timetable for reviewer gameplay videos or livestreams. Rockstar could allow written reviews, edited clips, screenshots and live broadcasts under different conditions. Until Rockstar or Take-Two publishes those terms, an exact stream date, release hour, footage allowance or spoiler rule would be speculation.

Rockstar’s synopsis describes protagonists caught in “a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida” after an easy score goes wrong. That story information does not reveal anything about review access or publication timing; it is included on the official game page as a description of the game, not as an embargo notice.
When can reviewers publish GTA 6 scores?
No one can give a confirmed time yet. A score can be published only after the review embargo expires, and Rockstar has not announced that expiry. Websites may publish countdowns or cite a reported preliminary date, but a preliminary report can change before launch and is not a binding public schedule.
The most defensible expectation is that reviews could arrive shortly before November 19, 2026, because that timing has appeared in coverage based on Rockstar’s previous releases. Treat it as a planning assumption, not a promise. The publisher could choose an earlier window, a launch-day window or another arrangement entirely.

A useful official announcement would identify the calendar date, the time zone and the exact material covered. “Reviews live before launch” is incomplete without a time. A global release might use one UTC time, while a regional arrangement could use different local times. Until those details are published, any countdown that omits the source and time zone is only an estimate.
Why a reported date can move
Publishers sometimes provide access in stages, revise embargo agreements, or adjust the date as launch plans change. A reporter can accurately describe a preliminary term while warning that it is subject to change. Repeating the date without that qualification turns a provisional report into a false certainty. For GTA 6, no preliminary date should be presented as the current official embargo.

Are GTA 6 gameplay videos and livestreams covered by the same embargo?
Not necessarily. A written review embargo and a footage policy are separate permissions. An outlet might be allowed to publish a score and analysis while being restricted from showing missions, characters, locations or cutscenes. Another agreement might permit short edited clips but prohibit livestreaming, or allow streams only after a separate time.
As of October 18, 2026, Rockstar has not published an authoritative public rule for GTA 6 reviewer streams or gameplay footage. That means there is no confirmed answer to questions such as “Can reviewers stream before release?”, “How many minutes can a review show?” or “What time do gameplay videos go live?”
Terms that may appear in a future policy
- Written-review release: when outlets may publish text, scores and critic summaries.
- Video permission: whether edited gameplay, trailers or review footage may be uploaded.
- Livestream permission: whether a reviewer may broadcast play sessions before launch.
- Footage limits: restrictions on duration, mission sections, characters or locations.
- Spoiler rules: prohibited story details, endings or late-game material.
- Platform and region limits: rules that differ by platform, territory or access build.
These categories are examples of how embargoes are commonly structured; they are not GTA 6 terms. Do not infer permission from a reviewer receiving a code or from another outlet uploading a clip. The outlet may have a different agreement, or the footage may be from an officially released trailer rather than review access.
What is the difference between an official announcement and a prediction?
| Information | Status on October 18, 2026 | What a reader can conclude |
|---|---|---|
| Grand Theft Auto VI launch date | November 19, 2026, listed by Rockstar | This is the confirmed release date currently published by the developer. |
| Review-score embargo date and time | Not officially posted by Rockstar | No exact moment for critic scores can be stated as fact. |
| Expectation of reviews shortly before launch | Based on historical Rockstar practice and reported expectations | Reviews may arrive before launch, but the timing remains unconfirmed. |
| Reviewer gameplay-video schedule | No authoritative public schedule | Do not rely on an exact upload hour or footage allowance. |
| Reviewer livestream permission | No authoritative public rule | A review code does not by itself prove that pre-release streaming is allowed. |
This distinction is the key to reading future headlines. “Sources expect reviews tomorrow” describes an expectation. “Rockstar confirms reviews at 9 a.m. UTC” would describe an official term. Only the second establishes a dependable publication time.
How should you track the embargo without being misled?
- Check Rockstar’s official channels first. Look for a Newswire announcement or an update to the official Grand Theft Auto VI information. An official post should identify the date, time and scope of the permission.
- Separate launch information from review information. The November 19 launch date does not automatically establish when reviews can appear. Treat those as two different calendar events.
- Read the qualification in every report. Words such as “preliminary,” “expected,” “reportedly” and “subject to change” indicate that a date is not confirmed.
- Check the time zone. A date without a time zone can produce a misleading countdown, especially for readers outside the publisher’s home region.
- Identify the content covered. Confirm whether a report concerns written scores, video reviews, livestreams or only official marketing footage.
- Watch for a revised agreement. If Rockstar changes access terms, the newest official statement supersedes an earlier report.
Because embargo information can change quickly, check Rockstar’s Newswire and support pages again close to publication and before making a purchase decision. A page that was accurate weeks earlier may no longer describe the current arrangement.

Will GTA 6 reviews be out before November 19?
They might be, but there is no confirmation that they will. Historical Rockstar release patterns are the basis for the expectation that reviews could appear shortly before launch. That pattern is useful context, not evidence of a scheduled GTA 6 embargo.

- Pre-launch reviews: Rockstar could permit scores and written reviews during a window before November 19.
- Launch-day reviews: Rockstar could keep the embargo until the game is publicly available.
- Staggered coverage: Written reviews, videos and streams could receive different release times.
Until Rockstar identifies which outcome applies, a retailer countdown or a critic’s social-media post cannot settle the question. The first reliable signal will be an official embargo term or coordinated publication by outlets that clearly identify the same permitted time.
What does the embargo mean for preordering?
Preordering before reviews is a trade-off between securing a purchase option and accepting incomplete information. Waiting preserves the ability to read launch-period criticism, but it may affect delivery timing, stock or any preorder terms offered by a retailer. The right choice depends on how much uncertainty you are willing to accept, not on an embargo date that has not been announced.
Preorder now if your priority is certainty of access
- You already know you want the game regardless of review scores.
- You have checked the retailer’s cancellation, refund and delivery terms.
- You are comfortable making the decision without confirmed critic coverage.
Wait for reviews if your priority is informed evaluation
- You want to assess performance, pacing, technical stability or campaign quality before paying.
- You are deciding between editions or are unsure whether the game suits your preferences.
- You can buy after launch without losing an important benefit.
Use a middle path
Read the retailer’s cancellation policy before placing an order, then monitor the official embargo announcement. If the order can be cancelled without a fee before dispatch, that policy may reduce—but not eliminate—the risk of ordering early. Do not assume every region or retailer offers the same terms.

What is known about the physical PS5 edition?
Rockstar customer support states that the physical version of Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 includes a code redeemable for the digital download. That fact concerns how the product is supplied; it does not provide a review date, a stream permission or a current price.
Before ordering, verify the specific retailer listing for your region. Price, stock, delivery timing and regional availability can change, and the support description alone does not establish those commercial details. A physical package containing a download code should not be confused with a disc-based licence unless the listing explicitly explains what is in the box.
What should reviewers and viewers expect from launch-week coverage?
Even after a written embargo lifts, coverage may not all appear at once. Outlets can choose different publication times, and a review may be updated after additional play or a launch patch. A score is one editorial judgement, not a substitute for checking whether the review discusses the aspects that matter to you.
For video coverage, look for an explicit statement that the footage is permitted under the outlet’s access terms. A trailer, developer showcase or officially released clip follows different rules from captured review gameplay. If a video avoids missions or story details, that may reflect a spoiler policy rather than a technical limitation.

A practical way to read the first reviews
- Confirm that the outlet reviewed the released version or clearly identifies the preview build.
- Check the review’s publication time against the announced embargo, including the time zone.
- Read the methodology and scope: campaign hours played, multiplayer access if relevant, and whether a day-one update was available.
- Look for concrete discussion of performance, bugs, controls, accessibility and save systems instead of relying only on the numerical score.
- Separate launch criticism from later patches or post-launch content that was not available to the reviewer.
These checks help you interpret coverage without treating one number as a universal answer.

Why the exact time matters to readers in different regions
An embargo announced for a single global moment can fall on different calendar dates locally. For example, an evening release in one region may be the following morning elsewhere. A reliable announcement should state the time zone or provide a conversion that readers can verify. Without that information, “reviews on November 18” may be true for one audience and false for another.
The same issue applies to gameplay videos. A platform may process uploads at a scheduled time, while a livestream can begin only when the outlet and publisher’s agreement permits it. Do not infer a universal local hour from a countdown designed for another market.
What would change this answer?
This article’s status changes when Rockstar or Take-Two publishes an official review-access notice, when the official game page lists a different launch date, or when an authoritative support or Newswire update sets rules for video and livestream coverage. A future announcement could establish separate times for scores, edited footage and live broadcasts.

Until then, the accurate answer is deliberately limited: GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026; no official review-score embargo time has been announced; and no public gameplay-streaming schedule has been confirmed. Historical timing can guide expectations, but it cannot replace a publisher’s release term.
