GTA 6 is set in Vice City and the wider fictional state of Leonida. Rockstar describes Leonida as encompassing Vice City and places including the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, and Ambrosia. The story’s criminal plot reaches across the state, rather than being limited to the city. Rockstar’s game page and its character profiles establish the setting.
What is the story of GTA 6?
Rockstar’s official premise is that Jason and Lucia have always faced difficult circumstances. An easy score goes wrong, leaving them caught in a criminal conspiracy stretching across Leonida. To survive, they must rely on each other. That is the announced setup—not a full account of the plot, its missions, or the conspiracy’s nature. Rockstar’s synopsis is the clearest source; Take-Two’s Trailer 2 announcement also reproduces it.
Who are Jason and Lucia?
Lucia Caminos
Lucia is one of the two leads, with motives of her own. Rockstar says her father taught her to fight when she was young, and that fighting for her family led to her imprisonment at Leonida Penitentiary. Luck got her out. She wants the good life her mother has dreamed of since their time in Liberty City, and she is prepared to take matters into her own hands. Rockstar’s official bio presents her as an active protagonist, not merely Jason’s companion.

Jason Duval
Jason grew up around grifters and crooks. He spent time in the Army trying to leave his troubled teenage years behind, then worked for local drug runners in the Keys. Rockstar sums up his outlook this way: “Jason wants an easy life, but things just keep getting harder.” His official bio gives background, but does not settle whether his choices are driven mainly by circumstance or temperament.
What is known about their relationship?
The official premise says Jason and Lucia are forced to depend on each other. Rockstar describes their meeting as potentially the best or worst thing to happen to Jason, while leaving the result uncertain. They are partners at the center of the story; Rockstar has not confirmed their final relationship status or whether either reaches a happy ending.

Who are the other main characters?
Rockstar’s bios introduce people from several circles around Jason and Lucia. These descriptions establish their connections and outlooks, not their precise roles in the missions or the ending.
- Cal Hampton is Jason’s friend and an associate of Brian Heder. He is most comfortable at home, listening in on Coast Guard communications and indulging his paranoia.
- Brian Heder is a veteran drug runner in the Keys. He continues moving product through his boat yard with his wife, Lori, and lets Jason stay at one of his properties in exchange for help with local shakedowns.
- Boobie Ike is a Vice City local with legitimate businesses in real estate, a strip club, and a recording studio. He partners with aspiring music mogul Dre’Quan Priest on Only Raw Records.
- Dre’Quan Priest started as a street hustler hoping to enter the music business. He has signed Real Dimez, the rap duo Bae-Luxe and Roxy.
- Real Dimez turned an early musical success into visibility. After years of trouble, the duo is trying to score another hit.
- Raul Bautista is a seasoned bank robber looking to recruit people willing to take risks for larger rewards.
All of these introductions come from Rockstar’s character profiles. A PC Gamer character guide provides a secondary cast cross-check, but predictions about what characters will do should not be mistaken for confirmed plot.

What has Rockstar not revealed?
The released official material establishes the setting, the protagonists’ backgrounds, and the opening criminal setup. It does not disclose the full conspiracy, mission sequence, ending, or final outcomes for the cast. Treat claims about those details as speculation unless Rockstar confirms them; this guide avoids leaks and unverified plot claims.
There is some commentary on how to read Jason’s past, but it is not a plot revelation. In an interview reported by GamesRadar on October 5, 2026, Rockstar senior vice president of narrative Rupert Humphries said: “We didn’t want to make any kind of statement with Jason’s backstory. It needs to be understood that he takes the measures he does – drug trafficking and becoming a bank robber, etc. – because of his material circumstances. But a lot of this is up to the player to decide whether he needs to do that, or if it’s a choice he makes because he’s wired differently from other people.” That is Humphries’ explanation of the intended ambiguity around Jason’s motivation, not a promise about the story’s conclusion. When does GTA 6 release, and what platforms are listed?
As of October 7, 2026, Rockstar’s store lists GTA 6 for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S; Xbox’s listing shows the same date for its platform. These are current announced details and may change. Rockstar’s store also describes a physical “code-in-box” option and explicitly says it contains no disc, so “physical” does not mean a disc edition. Check the Rockstar Store listing and Xbox listing for current availability and format. Take-Two’s May 6, 2025 announcement remains useful for the official synopsis, but its earlier May 26, 2026 date has been superseded.
