December 5, 2023 was the scheduled date for the first Grand Theft Auto VI trailer—but Rockstar released it a day early, on December 4, after the trailer leaked. The date in the original headline is historical, not an upcoming trailer announcement.
Was GTA 6 Trailer 1 released on December 5?
No. Rockstar had scheduled the trailer for Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 9 a.m. ET (6 a.m. PT). After it leaked on Monday, December 4, Rockstar published the official trailer early that day, according to BGR’s December 4, 2023 account.

That distinction matters: December 5 was the announced release time, while December 4 was when the official trailer actually went live. The “mark calendars” wording no longer describes a future event.
How the trailer date was announced
Rockstar co-founder Sam Houser first said the company would release the next Grand Theft Auto trailer in “early December.” His statement, quoted in BGR’s November 8, 2023 coverage, did not specify a day. Rockstar later set the December 5 schedule; the leak then prompted the early publication.
