Why Liberty City makes the theory interesting
New Guernsey is presented in the original game as a setting geographically connected to New Jersey. Current reporting places Lucia’s background in neighboring Liberty City. That proximity gives fans a logical reason to connect Jason’s North Fort Law reference with Lucia’s past.
The proposed timeline is straightforward: Jason may have trained in New Guernsey during or around his Army period; Lucia may have been living in nearby Liberty City; and the two could therefore have crossed paths before GTA 6 begins. Every link after the shirt’s wording is an inference. No cited material proves Jason grew up in New Guernsey, that he trained there, or that Lucia met him in either location.

This interpretation combines the North Fort Law reference with Lucia’s Liberty City background. The geography makes an earlier encounter possible, but it adds assumptions about where Jason lived, when he trained and how Lucia’s life intersected with his. The evidence supports possibility, not probability measured by any published statistic.

The shirt is only a franchise callback
Rockstar frequently hides visual references for longtime players. Under this reading, North Fort Law rewards series knowledge without changing Jason and Lucia’s established history. Until the game supplies dialogue or a mission that ties the shirt to their past, this remains at least as defensible as the relationship theory.
What the hint could mean for Jason and Lucia
GTA 6’s marketing centers Jason and Lucia as a paired crime story rather than two unrelated protagonists who happen to share missions. Secondary preview coverage also describes relationship dynamics in which players can remain a couple or continue as accomplices, with investment in the relationship affecting how events play out. Those details are reported preview information, not a final Rockstar systems explanation.

If the North Fort Law reference eventually connects to Jason’s Army years, it could give the duo an emotional history that predates their criminal partnership. Lucia might know a version of Jason from before his military experience, or Jason’s past could explain why the reference matters to her. Alternatively, the game may never revisit the shirt, leaving it as environmental storytelling with no plot consequence.
What players should expect at launch
Current secondary reporting lists Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with a November 19, 2026 release date. Retailer listings and platform details can change before launch, so those details should be treated as current reported information rather than a substitute for Rockstar’s final announcement.
