On a Cayo Perico Gather Intel visit, some access points unlock automatically, while most useful facilities, equipment and loot clues require scouting. Airstrip and Halo Jump appear automatically on your first island visit, West Beach unlocks after you reach the party, and swimming to the underwater drainage tunnel records it without a photo. Equipment such as bolt cutters, guard clothing, grappling gear and the supply truck can spawn in different places, so use location maps as search areas—not guarantees.
What counts as a Cayo Perico point of interest?
Scope-out discoveries help you plan how to enter the island, reach the compound, leave the island and find loot or useful equipment. These are distinct route decisions: an island infiltration point gets you onto Cayo Perico, while a compound entry point gets you inside El Rubio’s compound. Rockstar describes the heist as an infiltration of the island compound to escape with important files: Rockstar’s Cayo Perico Heist overview.
The main categories to look for are access routes, fixed facilities, pickup gear and secondary targets. The Kosatka planning screen displays scoped locations, and the scope-out guide’s maps show their search areas: GTA BOOM’s Cayo Perico scope-out and POI location guide.
Which access points are automatic, and which do you need to scout?
Island infiltration points
The scope-out guide lists eight infiltration points. Airstrip and Halo Jump are added automatically on the first island visit, and West Beach is automatically unlocked after you reach the party. North Dock is included in the introductory scope-out instructions; other approaches need to be found by scouting. The drainage tunnel is a special case: swim to its underwater location behind the compound and it is recorded automatically, without taking a photo.

| Infiltration point | How it is discovered |
|---|---|
| Airstrip | Added automatically on the first island visit. |
| Halo Jump | Added automatically on the first island visit. |
| West Beach | Added automatically after reaching the party. |
| Main Dock | Scout the location; use the guide’s map for the approach. |
| North Dock | Part of the introductory scope-out instructions. |
| North Drop Zone | Scout the location. |
| South Drop Zone | Scout the location. |
| Drainage Tunnel | Swim to the underwater entrance behind the compound; it records automatically. |
Escape points and compound entries are different lists
The guide lists Airstrip, Kosatka, Main Dock and North Dock as escape points. It separately lists six compound entry points: Main Gate, North Wall, North Gate, South Wall, South Gate and Drainage Tunnel. A plan may combine an island infiltration point with a different compound entry and escape route; discovering one does not mean you have discovered them all.
What useful facilities and equipment should you scout?
Control Tower
Scout the Control Tower if you want the island’s air-defense control opportunity. It is a fixed facility; use the guide’s map image to locate it rather than looking for a movable pickup.
Power Station
The Power Station is another fixed facility with security and utility relevance. Its location is shown on the guide’s map.

Bolt cutters
Look for a red toolbox or equipment near work areas, boats and containers. Possible search areas include the Airstrip and Power Station, the wrecked boat at North Drop Zone, North Dock boats and buildings, a central drug-processing shack, the eastern weed-farm area and tower bases. These are candidate spawn areas, not a promise that every spot will contain cutters in your run.

The scope-out guide says four bolt-cutter discoveries are needed to complete this POI entry. Check the actual island rather than assuming an earlier location still applies.
Guard clothing
Look for a green basket containing red-and-white clothing. Possible areas include the Airstrip, dock ends, North Dock sheds and containers, central security areas, the communications tower and areas near sniper towers. Four discoveries are needed to complete the corresponding POI entry, according to the scope-out guide.
The disguise can give you more time around enemies, but it is not invisibility: Rockstar warns that guards eventually see through it. See Rockstar’s Cayo Perico Heist tips and tricks.
Grappling equipment
Identify a black bag with a silver grappling hook. Possible locations include the end of the Airstrip runway, roads near solar panels and the shore, plus other mapped sites. The scope-out guide says four discoveries are needed to complete this POI entry.
Supply truck
Scout the supply truck because it can enable a useful route. Its possible positions are variable; use the current map images as a guide to candidate locations instead of treating one coordinate as universal.

How do you identify map clues during intel gathering?
Match each clue to what it is for, then use the map to narrow your search. Fixed facilities such as the Control Tower and Power Station have stable map locations; equipment and vehicles have multiple possible spawns. The guide’s maps and images help orient the search, but the on-island clue is what confirms a pickup on your current run.
- Red toolbox or work-area equipment: check for bolt cutters.
- Green basket with red-and-white clothing: check for guard clothing.
- Black bag with a silver hook: check for grappling equipment.
- Storage areas and compound CCTV feeds: inspect for secondary targets and loot clues.
- Underwater behind the compound: swim to the drainage tunnel to record that entry point; a photo is not required.
Secondary target locations and their contents can vary by run. Rockstar encourages exploring guarded areas for potential loot, but the cited guidance does not establish a universal value ranking for targets. The CCTV feeds inside the compound are another way to inspect for secondary targets.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which secondary loot locations should solo players check first?
Start with storage and loot areas that fit the route you are considering, then inspect the compound CCTV feeds for additional targets. The sources do not establish one best loot stop or a fixed value order for solo players; actual contents and the route you can use are run-dependent. A useful scouting decision is therefore to compare the loot you can reach with the island entry, compound access and exit you intend to use, rather than following a universal ranked list.

How do you choose an infiltration and scouting route?
There is no source-backed route that is fastest for every player or setup. Compare the options against your intended approach and the clues visible on your current island.
| Planning question | What to compare |
|---|---|
| How will you reach the island and leave? | Available infiltration and escape points, such as the Airstrip, docks, drop zones or Kosatka. |
| How will you enter the compound? | Compound entries are a separate set of discoveries; the Drainage Tunnel is one available compound-access option. |
| Where is the secondary loot you want? | Check storage areas and CCTV, then weigh their locations against the route you can take. |
| What equipment would help? | Consider the utility and stealth trade-offs of guard clothing or grappling gear; neither is a guarantee of an effortless route. |
| What extra preparation is needed? | Account for scouting still required and the equipment or access points available in this run. |
For a practical scouting visit, first register the automatically added points, then follow the in-game map and the guide’s images to inspect relevant facilities, loot areas and candidate gear spawns. Swim to the drainage tunnel if you want that compound entry recorded. Prioritize discoveries that support the approach you are considering instead of trying to sweep every possible gear coordinate in one fixed order.
Do you have to scout every point of interest again for each heist?
No. Rockstar says some scoped information remains after a completed heist, while some locations must be found again. Its tips do not provide a complete item-by-item persistence list, so check the Kosatka planning screen before assuming a discovery is still available. Rockstar also says you can return to scope the island before prep or the finale, and that scoped item locations may differ between runs.
