GameFly is a mail-based rental service for physical video game and movie discs—not a cloud gaming tool. Choose titles in an online queue; when a title is available, GameFly mails it to you. You can return it by mail or, if you want to keep it, buy an available title. GameFly says there are no late fees and no shipping charge for receiving or returning discs.
What is GameFly?
GameFly lets members rent physical discs through a queue managed on GameFly’s website or mobile app. Its support page says discs ship by USPS First Class mail from Pittsburgh. Because the service depends on mailed discs, it is different from downloading a game or streaming it from the cloud.
GameFly lists support for platforms including PS5, PS4, PS3, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch, Wii U, Wii, 3DS, DS, and PS Vita. That list does not guarantee that a particular game is currently available for every listed console; check the individual title listing before joining for a specific game. How does GameFly work?
- Build your queue. Add the games or movies you want to rent through the website or app. Put higher-priority choices near the top, but availability can affect which queued title ships.
- Wait for an available title to ship. GameFly sends an available item by mail. Its support materials do not promise a particular delivery time or that a high-demand game will ship immediately.
- Play, then return the disc. Send the disc back by mail when you are finished. GameFly says it charges no shipping fee to receive or return discs and imposes no late fees or penalties.
- Buy a title you want to keep, if available. Members can purchase an available game or movie from their queue. GameFly’s purchase guide says active members receive free standard shipping on used titles; nonmembers may also buy, but standard shipping charges apply. GameFly Support: What is GameFly? How does the free trial work?
GameFly’s support page describes a 30-day free trial and requires a valid credit or debit card to sign up. GameFly recommends adding at least 10 released titles to your queue, since some titles are in high demand and may not be readily available. That recommendation can give the service more options to ship; it does not guarantee a specific game.

GameFly is most useful if you have a compatible console with a disc drive, are comfortable receiving and returning games by mail, and want to try several physical games without buying each one outright. A multi-disc plan lets you keep more than one disc out at a time, while the queue helps you set preferences for what ships next.
