Before entering a code, identify your version. PC text cheats, PlayStation button codes, Xbox button codes, Nintendo Switch button codes, classic mobile ports, and Definitive Edition mobile do not share the same entry method. The Definitive Edition also removed or changed some classic cheats.
This guide separates official cheats from legitimate unlockables, collectibles, easter eggs, and glitches so you can use the sandbox freely without confusing it with a 100% completion run.
GTA: San Andreas Cheats, Cheat Codes and Secrets Guide
Choose your version first

The current mobile Definitive Edition and Netflix version launched on December 14, 2023. Rockstar lists the Definitive Edition for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch in its availability announcement. Classic PC and remastered PC versions can look similar in a code list, but their compatibility is not identical.
How to enter GTA: San Andreas cheats
PC and classic PC
- Load a save and wait until CJ is in active gameplay.
- Do not open the pause menu.
- Type the phrase or code on the keyboard. You do not need to open a text box.
- Look for the on-screen confirmation message.
- If nothing appears, click the game window to restore keyboard focus and check the spelling.
The classic PC versions accept both the memorable phrase and the shorter code shown in the tables below. This is also the text format used by Definitive Edition mobile’s cheat menu. The PC Gamer reference list is useful for checking the phrase/code pairs.

PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch
- Resume active gameplay; button combinations entered in the pause menu will not work.
- Use the D-pad rather than the analog stick for directional inputs.
- Enter the sequence steadily and without long pauses.
- Wait for the confirmation message before trying another code.
The tables below deliberately keep PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch symbols separate. An Xbox B is not interchangeable with a PlayStation Circle, and Nintendo’s button positions differ from both.
Definitive Edition mobile and Netflix
- Tap the mini-map.
- Open Options.
- Select Accessibility.
- Choose Enter Cheat Code.
- Enter the PC-style phrase, such as
HESOYAMorROCKETMAN. - Confirm the entry.
This menu path is documented for the Definitive Edition mobile release by Destructoid’s Netflix mobile guide. It should not be assumed to exist in every older mobile port.
Classic mobile
Older Android and iOS builds do not necessarily expose the Definitive Edition’s Accessibility menu. Depending on the port, cheat entry may require a physical keyboard or another supported keyboard input method. Do not assume that a Bluetooth controller, touchscreen overlay, or keyboard will work on every classic mobile build.

These are the most useful codes for a sandbox session. They are presented in PC format because the same phrases are also used by Definitive Edition mobile. On consoles, use the platform-specific tables below.

Important: the almost-invulnerable effect is not the same thing as guaranteed immunity to every source of damage. Different lists call it infinite health, but its behavior and availability vary by release.

Infinite ammunition does not mean that every weapon has an infinite magazine. The legitimate 100% reward still requires magazine reloads; the cheat’s behavior depends on the version and weapon.

PlayStation cheat codes
These are the classic PlayStation sequences, expressed with PlayStation symbols. They are useful for PS2 and many backward-compatible releases, but the Definitive Edition can disable individual legacy codes. Enter them during gameplay, not while paused.

For Xbox One and Xbox Series releases, confirm the exact game edition before using a classic sequence. The Definitive Edition retains many classic codes but not all of them.
Nintendo Switch cheat codes
Switch uses the button labels according to their physical positions: PlayStation Circle maps to Switch A, Square to Y, Triangle to X, and X to B. PlayStation L1/L2 become L/ZL, while R1/R2 become R/ZR.

Switch-specific compatibility still depends on whether you are playing the original Switch port or the Definitive Edition. Use the current cross-platform reference and treat any code marked with a dagger as version-dependent.
Definitive Edition compatibility: what changed?
The Definitive Edition retains many familiar PC and controller cheats, but current compatibility lists identify several classic effects as unavailable or unreliable. In particular, do not assume that the following work in every Definitive Edition build:
- Invisible cars.
- The original infinite-health or almost-invulnerable effect.
- Never hungry.
- Cars floating when hit.
- Destroy all cars.
- Some rural or country traffic themes.
- Recruit civilians with rocket launchers.
These omissions are why a universal table is misleading. The Definitive Edition compatibility guide marks individual codes rather than treating the remaster as identical to the PS2 release. A code can also work on one platform and fail on another after an update.
Cheat risks: the safe workflow
- Make a clean save. Save before entering the first cheat.
- Use a separate slot. Never overwrite your completion or trophy-run file.
- Experiment outside missions. Avoid scripted objectives, cutscenes, and mission starts.
- Be especially careful with world-state cheats. Riot, chaos, wanted-level locking, traffic changes, and altered vehicle physics can affect mission scripting.
- Quit without saving if anything behaves strangely. Reload the clean save rather than trying to repair the cheated state.
Rockstar’s guidance is stronger than the common warning that cheats merely disable achievements: cheats can produce graphical anomalies, scripting errors, crashes, and corrupted saved games. Rockstar recommends restoring a cheat-free save if problems appear. There is no completely safe cheat-save workflow; a separate sandbox file is risk reduction, not a guarantee.
Trophies and achievements
Original PS2 play has no modern trophy system. On supported PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and other modern releases, activating a cheat can disable trophy or achievement progress for the cheated run or save. Do not use cheats while pursuing 100% completion, trophies, or achievements, and do not assume that entering the same code again restores eligibility. Return to the clean save instead.

Codes most likely to cause trouble
- Pedestrian riot: NPCs attack and the altered world can interfere with missions.
- Pedestrian chaos: behavior changes can make a late-game mission impossible and may persist on the affected save.
- Lock wanted level: can prevent normal wanted-level behavior when a mission expects it.
- Traffic and vehicle-physics cheats: can make scripted driving sequences unpredictable.
- Any cheat during a mission: even a harmless-looking health or weather change can interact badly with mission scripts.
Troubleshooting

Cheats are not the same as secrets
In this guide, a cheat is an entered code that changes gameplay. An unlockable is earned through legitimate progress. A secret or easter egg is a hidden location, object, or reference. A glitch is unintended behavior. Keeping those categories separate matters if you want a clean 100% file.
Collectibles and their legitimate rewards
100 Gang Tags — Los Santos
Spray over all 100 gang tags in Los Santos. This category is required for 100%. Completing it makes the following weapons spawn at CJ’s Ganton safe house: Tec-9, AK-47, Molotov cocktails, and sawed-off shotgun.
50 Snapshots — San Fierro

50 Horseshoes — Las Venturas
Collect all 50 physical horseshoes in Las Venturas. The reward includes maximum luck and weapons at the Four Dragons Casino, including an M4, MP5, shotgun, and satchel charges.

50 Oysters — underwater across San Andreas
Find all 50 oysters underwater throughout the state. They count toward 100% and grant maximum lung capacity plus relationship benefits, including the ability to date girlfriends regardless of sex appeal and to revive deceased girlfriends.
San Andreas does not use the traditional GTA III/Vice City hidden-package system for its main collectible set. The correct names are gang tags, snapshots, horseshoes, and oysters. The freight-train requirement is described differently by reference guides: one uses the in-game Level 2 wording, while broader completion checklists count ten successful deliveries. They refer to the same progression milestone rather than two separate rewards.

Hidden challenges
Three challenge groups contribute to 100% completion:
- BMX Challenge: begins at the Los Santos skate park. Build cycling skill first; several checkpoints are high above the park, so controlled jumps and a full cycling stat make the route much easier.
- Chiliad Challenges: three downhill mountain-bike races begin on Mount Chiliad. Approach the summit with a strong cycling skill and prioritize a clean line over risky shortcuts.
- NRG-500 Challenge: begins around Easter Basin in San Fierro. The objective is to collect rings around the area; use the bike’s turning and braking carefully instead of trying to land every jump at maximum speed.

What is actually required for 100%?
A current completion checklist counts 187 required objectives. Its grouped breakdown includes:

The 187 figure is a tracker’s grouped objective count; the collectible categories themselves contain 250 individual pickups. Use the detailed 100% checklist to track each item rather than treating 187 as the number of objects in the world.
100% completion rewards
- $1,000,000.
- Infinite ammunition. Weapons still require magazine reloads.
- Twice as much health for vehicles driven by CJ.
- A Hydra spawning at Sweet’s house in Grove Street.
- A Rhino spawning under the Ganton Bridge near Ryder’s house.
These are legitimate completion rewards, so they are safer for a clean file than using equivalent cheats.
Things that are not required
100% does not mean literally completing every activity. The following are not required for the in-game 100% statistic:
- All 70 unique stunt jumps.
- Burglary missions.
- Dating girlfriends.
- Gold medals in every school.
- 100% gang-territory control.
- Gambling.
- Pool, basketball, and arcade games.
- Maxing every character or vehicle stat.
- Hitman rank with every weapon.
- The Beat the Cock triathlons.
- Driving every vehicle or using every weapon.
Mobile caveat: some driving-school and bike-school tests are absent from the mobile version. Those unavailable tests are not required for mobile 100% completion, so mobile players should not waste time searching for activities their edition does not contain.

Curated easter eggs and secret locations
These are environmental secrets and references, not cheat codes. Exact objects can differ between the original game and the Definitive Edition, so treat screenshots and visual details as version-specific.

Some popular explanations should remain qualified. The so-called ghost car is more plausibly a driverless vehicle that spawned on a hill and rolled downhill. Catalina’s unmarked graves are an interpretation based on her dialogue, not an explicitly confirmed story fact. Possible Rodney King parallels and other pop-culture connections, including claims about Spike’s Crypt, should be described as interpretations unless supported by developer commentary. Glitches and exploits
Glitches are not official cheats and should not be used on a completion save. They can be inconsistent, edition-specific, or patched in later releases. Examples documented by long-running glitch archives include:
- Early exploration outside Los Santos.
- Map-boundary and bridge exploits.
- Parachute-and-bike behavior.
- Vehicle-morphing glitches.
- Walking through geometry, including bridge or shop geometry.
- Mission-specific skips.
Use a disposable save if you are testing these behaviors. The San Andreas glitch archive records examples such as the walk-through bridge, pizza-store geometry, bike/car morphing, and parachute-bike behavior, but it does not make them safe or universal.

- Keep one save slot entirely cheat-free for trophies, achievements, and completion.
- Save a second slot before opening the cheat sandbox.
- Use cheats only for free-roaming experiments, vehicle testing, screenshots, or novelty runs.
- Avoid riot, chaos, wanted-lock, traffic, and physics cheats near missions.
- Never save after a mission breaks, pedestrians behave abnormally, or the game displays graphical errors.
- Quit and reload the clean file if you want to resume legitimate progress.

Can I enter GTA: San Andreas cheats from the pause menu?
No. On classic PC and console releases, enter cheats during active gameplay. PC players type directly on the keyboard; console players enter button sequences. Definitive Edition mobile is the exception: use Mini-map → Options → Accessibility → Enter Cheat Code.
Do San Andreas cheats disable trophies and achievements?
On modern trophy- and achievement-supported releases, cheat use can disable progress for the cheated run or save. Keep a clean save and do not use cheats during a 100% or trophy attempt. The original PS2 release has no modern trophy system.
Does GTA: San Andreas 100% require every activity?

Why is there no Enter Cheat Code option on my phone?
You may be using the classic Android/iOS port rather than Definitive Edition mobile or the Netflix release. The Accessibility cheat-entry menu is documented for Definitive Edition mobile; classic mobile builds may require a supported physical or virtual keyboard.
