What changed in GTA V Enhanced on PC?
Rockstar announced the PC release on February 20, 2025, with a launch date of March 4, 2025. Its announcement described improved graphics options, faster loading and PC ray-tracing features, including ray-traced ambient occlusion and global illumination. These are announced capabilities, not a guarantee of a particular frame rate or image-quality improvement on every PC. Rockstar’s announcement has the release details.

GTA Online content
The PC release also brought GTA Online features and content Rockstar had described for the latest console generation. Highlights include Hao’s Special Works performance upgrades and related vehicle content, as well as wildlife encounters. GTA+ access is available as an optional service; the announcement does not make membership a requirement for Enhanced. Its current price and benefits can change, so check Rockstar’s current GTA+ terms before subscribing.
Is the PC upgrade free?
Yes. Rockstar said the upgrade was free for players who already owned GTA V on PC. Existing owners do not need to buy the game again to receive that upgrade. This does not establish the current purchase price or availability for people who do not own it.

Should you use Enhanced or stay with Legacy?
Enhanced is the edition with the announced graphics options and the listed GTA Online additions. Whether it is the better fit depends on your PC, the features you want, and what you intend to do with your Online progress. The cited announcement does not provide a complete current system-requirements comparison or benchmark results, so it cannot establish which edition runs better on a particular computer.
- Choose Enhanced if you want its announced PC graphics options and the added Online features, and your PC supports the edition.
- Consider your Online profile before migrating: migration is a separate process, and progress made afterward will not sync between editions.
- Check Rockstar’s current support guidance if you are unsure whether your profile qualifies or how migration affects your characters.
How to migrate a GTA Online profile from Legacy to Enhanced
Migration is optional and separate from launching Enhanced. Rockstar describes it as a PC-to-PC transfer: transfers between PC and console, in either direction, are unsupported. Some profiles may be ineligible, including profiles affected by suspensions or bans, or those with illegitimate or insufficient progress. Rockstar Support’s migration instructions explain the process and eligibility.

- Start GTA V Enhanced and open the Enhanced Landing Page or the Pause Menu.
- Choose the option to migrate your GTA Online profile and follow the in-game prompts. If you have already started Enhanced, use the Pause Menu.
- Review the character and profile information carefully before confirming. Rockstar warns that selecting a new character can overwrite an existing character slot.
- Allow time for the migration to complete; Rockstar notes that the process may take time.
Your Legacy profile and its existing progress remain after migration, but new Online progression does not sync between Legacy and Enhanced. Do not treat migration as a continuing link between editions. If account-specific eligibility or character slots are a concern, check the current Rockstar Support page before proceeding.

Yes, Rockstar’s title update notes document PC Enhanced changes through April 2026. The notes’ April 7, 2026 entry reports general stability and security fixes. That confirms maintenance at that point; it does not establish the latest version as of October 8, 2026. Rockstar’s Title Update 1.72 notes provide the dated chronology.
